  1. Can anyone confirm hairdryers in the staterooms on Harmony of the seas?
  2. Thanks. Does anyone actually recall what the cost of a liter of bottle water is in the stateroom? I know there is a card with pricing but I never really pay attention to the cost.
  3. My wife and mother are already annoying me about bringing a liter of water per person onboard next week. I really don't want to be bothered. Can anyone please provide pricing per liter of water so I can put this to rest and just buy the water onboard? I remember it being in the $4-6 range per liter which make it a BARGAIN!
  4. WAAAYTOOO- I have some information to share from a recent conversation with the CR hotline that you may be able to confirm. I'm glad we have this forum to piece together the mystery that is "Club Royale". The woman I spoke to elaborated on the certificates a bit. She mentioned the casino host can give out certificate with value between $100/min and $1000/max based on play. There are special circumstances where a host can request a certificate of an absolute maximum of $1500. I found this out by mentioning my last certificate was $1200. There is a second form of "comp" that for some reason they consider of higher value then a straight cash value certificate and this is the "free cruise" certificate that represents the next level of comp. I personally do not find this nearly as valuable and according to the woman I talked with they can only be redeemed for select cruises. That's a no go for me as I like to pick & choose my cruises. I also found out that once you are a CR member to never book through the onboard "next cruise" program as it will complicate things with your CR benefits. I often wonder why Royal Carribean does not just post the program rules and levels online? Why is it such a mystery? PS: I plan on getting that $1500 certificate + a free cruise + comped dinner and champagne on our Harmony cruise in 2 weeks! I will report back.
  5. Please refresh my memory all you club royale casino players club members out there... Does the host still use the individual drink cards that are handed out or do they put a sticker on your card? It's been awhile. Getting ready for Harmony in a couple weeks.
  6. If you have Hilton Status then the Marina is a way better option. Request an upgrade to a high floor facing south towards the cruise port and you can see the Harmony arrive in port. This hotel has some of the best views of the ocean, ICW and Port. I don't agree w/ it needing a facelift. My parents stay there every weekend when they visit us in F Laud and find it to be a better hotel then the Embassy.
  7. @Sabrina- the renaissance is "decent". One positive is that it's located in the parking lot of a couple good restaurants (Boat Yard and Bravo Italian) and right across the street from the port. What are you looking for exactly? There are a ton of hotels located within a couple miles of the Port so you have a lot of choices. If money is no object I suggest you look at the major chains on FTL Beach (Ritz, Hilton, Conrad, W, Atlantic). If you are budget conscious there are so many choices. I highly recommend Embassy Suites on 17th street as this is the "go to" hotel for most people headed out on cruises. Give me an idea of what you want and I will let you know what's best IMHO.
  8. Harbor Beach Marriot is closer to the many restaurants located along the A1A beachfront. You can take a short walk North on A1A and find an abundance of choices or just eat at the hotel (pool & atmosphere amazing by the way at this hotel).
  9. Embassy Suites on 17th street is your best bet for consistency mid tier hotel. The hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants as well as a Publix & total wine (and a Starbucks). There is a shuttle service to the port in the AM. Everyone stays here trust me my AM coffee trips take forever on Sat & Sun for the Harmony & Allure crowd.
  10. If your staying on the 17th Street corridor you can walk to Kelly's landing and/or SouthPort Raw Bar. Both excellent choices IMHO. I am a local.
  11. Your going to have a tough time getting away from the whole family thing going on a cruise vacation. There are certainly other options w/ different lines but they are geared towards an older crowd. IMHO it does not get better than the Oasis Class w/ RCI (kids or no kids). There is so much to do at all hours of the day and night, a great selection of dining options and nice warm Carribean itineraries. You just can't go wrong. Not knowing what category of stateroom you normally get w/ your family I would suggest booking something different with your wife (loft suite) to make things different & special. Trust me I'm in the same "boat" and my wife and I enjoy the Oasis Class with & without the kids!
  12. When is the best time to go to the Greek isles? Specifically departing Venice. I've never been to Italy or Greece and I would like to take the family when it's nice & warm. Anyone with any experience with this cruise?
  13. Not sure about that one, Pam. The "AV" is throwing me off.
  14. I got to the jetty at 3:45 and the ships starting departing. Harmony passed by at 4:45pm. It was awesome. Can't wait for our March sailing!
  15. I am thinking about blocking out a couple weeks vacation next year and taking my wife and 2 young children (by then they will be 5 and 2) on a RC cruise through the Hawaiian Islands. We would most likely fly in a couple days early and stay at the Hilton Waikiki Resort since I am loyal to Hilton and the place looks amazing! Anybody have experience with the Hawaiian cruise offerings from RC? Decent ships? Older or younger crowd? Good stops showcasing major tourist attractions? I know we want to go to Hawaii in 2017 but I'm trying to sell my wife on opting for cruising instead of parking it in Waikiki for a week or more.
  16. Pam- if your staying at the Residence Inn on Anglers Ave then I have a couple suggestions: 1. Islamarada Fish Company inside the outdoor world is within walking distance and they have a full menu (decent food). 2. If your feeling adventurous and you enjoy crab then I highly suggest taking an Uber (5 min maybe) to the rustic inn. They have the best garlic crabs EVER! You won't be disappointed.
  17. Pam I too have lived in Fort Lauderdale for 40 years. If you have anymore Fort Lauderdale specific questions I'm sure myself or monorailmedic can answer for you.
  18. Fort Lauderdale is a safe bet to be warm in April as there are only a hand full of days the entire year it dips below 70F
  19. Toss everything above out the window if you gamble in the casino.....
  20. Thinking of watching her leave from the rock jetty. Anyone who has sailed her recently recall when she pushed off the dock?
  21. Anyone have any good Rolex purchase experiences (discount, great service exc) in St Thomas, St Martin or Nassau?
  22. ^^^^ That's what I figured. Oh well. Thanks for the info!
  23. We are sailing Harmony in March & I wanted to know if there are any places indoors to smoke a cigar? Boleros? Dedicated cigar bar?
  24. I am 100% with you on this. I've been to Jamaica on cruise ships no less than 20 times and I am sad to say that I'm done with it. I have had similar experiences of theft and very pushy salespeople (bordering on aggressive). Now that I have 2 young children I prefer to either take voyages avoiding the island or remain on the ship and enjoy a quiet day by the pool. It really is a shame because Jamaica is such a beautiful island but it has been corrupted by tourism $$.
