  1. I love it. You get to totally disconnect. I find that "shut off" from everything onboard a nice break for the senses. Plus sleeping in total dark, like a cave, Best sleep ever.
  2. I have booked a GTY inside and been upgraded to a promenade view. It's nice perk (a little noisy in the evening). I wouldn't go out of my way to pay extra for it. A regular inside is much more peaceful.
  3. Ok, I know it's not a big deal. But still wondering about these stores. Streets. Length of walk. Safety. Which location is better. Etc. Anyone have any opinions?
  4. Ok, so this happens to me every trip. Getting close to check in date and App has 19th, Website 20th. (Drives me nuts). So I end up sitting at the ready between 11pm and 1am (Play it safe for time zones and slow IT issues) both nights to cover my tail. I know others have talked about this. Does anyone find the closer day/date is more likely the actual date or the later? And I know 45 days. But then you get into count day of etc etc. This bug anyone else? LOL.
  5. Happy St Patrick's Day! Anyone know if you use your own shoes/sneakers or do they provide? On Wonder everyone just used there own sneakers for the Zipline. But they didn't use jumpsuits for that, so I see it's a little different.
  6. This information on Cloud 17 and Hideaway is very helpful. I booked a bed at Hideaway for 2 of my sea days and have been concerned about the volume of the music. Also was planning on Cloud 17 for other days. Still a little concerned about the proximity to the smoking section, but I'm good with chairs in shade or sun. One question. Did you smell the smoke while in the pool at Cloud 17? Again, very helpful trip report. Thanks!
  7. I don't mind asking at guest services onboard. I find they tend to have more practical knowledge than anyone over the phone.
  8. I keep mine on the desk opposite the bed.
  9. Like @Ampurp85 I always bring a travel fan with USB plug with me. Who has experience requesting a desk fan from housekeeping? Do they always have them? Are they clean? Just thinking about maybe cutting back on an item to pack. ....... Maybe?........
  10. @CrimsonCruiser @WAYNO Thank you both for the answers/help. Only need return portion from port to airport and was dreading another potentially long Royal phone call. LOL. But if it is available to book onboard for the return to airport, I'll just book it then.
  11. SAS doesn't do pickups from Miami hotels. Thanks anyway.
  12. Anyone else have recent experience with Royal Caribbean transportation from Port to Airport?
  13. Anyone else use Royals transportation from Port to Airport recently?
  14. Says on "transportation page" you have to call. One thing says to do it no later than 2 weeks out. Another says at 2 weeks. LOL. So I'm thinking call at 3 weeks to be safe.
  15. Ok, so decided to push the boat out and hire a car and driver to get from Miami airport to Hampton inn Brickell. (We have too much luggage for public transport). Supposedly Hampton inn Brickell works with a 3rd party vendor (Still trying to confirm) to get you from hotel to port for a small fee. So that can save on an Uber XL (again lots of luggage. LOL). So.... looking at Royal Caribbean transportation from port back to airport at end of trip. (OIA/PC so much easier and cheaper). Royal says to call 2 weeks before to purchase/arrange transport from port to airport. So questions. Is this how it's done? Is a few weeks out enough notice? Does it have to be a phone call? (Don't see any online options.) What is the cost? Do they use large buses? (This would be great since amount of luggage doesn't become an issue unlike Uber size etc) Do they ask about flight times? (Delta moved us to a 230pm flight, so in no rush that morning. LOL). Thanks
  16. So glad someone brought this up. I think MSC did themselves some major bad press with there treatment of Ben and David.
  17. Have on clean clothes to be respectful (and sanitary) of yourself and others. But shorts, no shorts. Life is too hard and too short to worry about what others may have on etc. It's your vacation. Enjoy.
  18. Seems to be the trend everywhere but Icon. Promised my roll call I would check daily at 45 days but started today at 55 days to play it safe. LOL. Nothing yet.
  19. No, you absolutely would not make it. From airport to hotel to city would be an insane race. And the tunnels between NJ and NY at that time on a Saturday evening would be backed up forever. Not worth the risk and aggravation. 40 years living there, trust me.
  20. Actually the scan I was having yesterday morning while having this Haiti debate ended in me being told I have a lump on my left lung. So I guess I'm not totally OK? Still processing. Still keeping my focus on my May 4th Icon trip. And enjoy (most) of my time here. It fills my mind and time. Wow! More than I'm sure you were asking for. LOL. Kinda so full I think I just verbally tossed my cookies folks. Sorry.
  21. I take issue with this because unless I missed a posting? Nobody advocated for cruise ships to stop going altogether. Some expressed concern, while I personally gave (My) views on what (I) can and cannot live with at the end of the day.
  22. Go for it. Any night including formal. There is no rule that says you can't and many do.
  23. I don't get off the ship in Jamaica either. Out of safety. And that's a personal choice. I sail for the ship, not the port. So some of us do think twice about getting off in Jamaica. I can direct you to YouTube videos of travel vlogers like Ben and David who no longer get off in Jamaica. "None of us think twice" might have been to broad a statement. The fact that someone meaning well like yourself has to point out that enjoying life while others suffer is no sin, is in fact the problem here today in this conversation. My empathy is not a judgement on what others choose to do. My opinion on getting off the ship in Haiti/Labadee is not a suggestion or recommendation on what other should or shouldn't do. It's my personal feelings and choices. It will never not cease to amaze me how saying you don't get off in Labadee for whatever reason, brings out a backlash from other posters. On this and other forums. "It's not a sin to ....." How sad you felt the need to point out both sides after reading. All because some took my personal feelings as a judgement on there actions? Live life. Enjoy life. Go anywhere and everywhere. Nothing said today was anything other than my personal take on how I need to roll, to be ok with myself at the end of the day.
