Just another 7n Birthday Odyssey out of NJ (03/30/25~04/06/25)
Generalchadwick replied to InmyElement's topic in Live Blogs
Just joined in to follow along. Our first Diamond cruise will be on this ship as well for a Transatlantic next year. Looking forward to it. Hoping access won't be limited with the probably high number of top tier people you get on crossings. Although only time I care about access is in the morning for coffee. -
I have an Oasis Lagoon cabana reserved for an up coming cruise. We are a party of 7 adults and 2 kids that are both 7 yrs old. I know cabanas are listed at 8 people. Are they going to get us for being over 1? Can't justify getting a second cabana in this situation. Anyone have any experience with this? I understand that what happens with each person can be different depending on the person working the cabanas.

Transatlantic virgin question
Generalchadwick replied to Generalchadwick's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Thanks, very quick. Bummed to see no themed nights beyond formal and caribbean. -
So my wife would call me crazy asking questions about a cruise that is almost 1.5 years away, but I know I'm amongst fellow addicts. This will be our first transatlantic and even better it will be our first at Diamond. (Excitedly shakes hands). My DW and I love to dress up on theme nights this picture was during the "dress to impress" night on SotS. Is there a way to find out all the themes on a transatlantic. With regular trips I just look up compasses from that itinerary. How do I find out with Transatlantic? We will be on Odyssey

ICON!!!!!!! Western Caribbean 8/31/24-9/7/24

This hits too close to home for me. Will be on HotS at the end of the month and this 100% me. The 1 hour time change from the east coast isn't going to help either. -
How much was your cab? Are you at Hobby or IAH? And thanks for playing detective for me.

Would love to hear about your kids finding out about being in a suite. Especially the one that was doing all the research. -
Can you find out if he does the port side CLS and if so on the down low find out what his favorite candy is. Would love to bring him some when we are there.

Would also love to hear more details about getting aboard the ship. Rough timetable, how was it getting through suite check in ect. Warning I rarely catch these things live. Especially one where I'm going to be on the exact ship in the exact category of room in a month. Too perfect of an opportunity. You have ignited my excitement to a new level. I'm sorry if I get annoying with the questions.

May I request a picture of the morning coffee set up in the SL. Particular the syrups and if there are hot chocolate packets. I usually enjoy making a latte on that machine and adding a hot chocolate packet to make it a mocha

Getting on HoTS at the end of next month. Excited to join this thread live. Awesome to think you are getting up right now and preparing to go board the ship. One question I have when the days come up is how many people you see dressing up for the different theme nights. My wife and I love dressing up but have noticed on past cruises less and less people dressing up. I understand the case of who cares what others are doing, you do you. But just curious.

When will we hear more about Star?
Generalchadwick replied to ApexoftheSeas's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I hope they change the kids couch/bed in the surf side family suites I've heard a lot of reviews about how small that bed is. I wonder if they could figure out some sort of bunk bed situation in there. Kind of like the couch and bunk you find in the Family suites. -
Was hoping someone has gone recently could say as I doubt it will change between now and then. Also don't want to wait too long incase we want to order something.

Going on Harmony in September and want to know ahead of time if there are any theme night other than formal and Caribbean. I.E. 70s or 80s... We always find this out too late to plan and as a couple that enjoys dressing up we are always disappointed.

We are currently looking to book on the WOS in a Central Park window view room on deck 9 with 2 adults and 2 kids. On the map key is has a * on some rooms and the key says "stateroom occupancy up to 4 guest" There aren't any available for us that have that * but yet it allows me to pick ones that are plain and don't have any marks on them. Do these still have the beds/capacity for us? Thanks

Let me preface this by saying I have not been on Icon this is just observations. I'll be on Star September 2025. First off generally the class looks family friendly what Im talking about is the independence side of it. What I mean by not independent family friendly is for example on sea days on let's say Oasis Class ship, DW and I can post up in chairs at the beach pool and we feel confident to let our DDs (6 and 11) go play in the kids pool area right next door and do the slides while we can relax. Where as the splash area for my 6 yo is all the way down in the boardwalk isolated from other water stuff my 11 yo would want to do and doesn't have the same relaxing atmosphere as the beach pool does. This isn't at all a deal breaker for me just an observation. And I get that there are people that want those items separated to this degree. I will try to remember to come back and comment on this after we sail.

We have a Surfside Family Suite booked on SOTS next September. I hope RC is learning from the Reviews on the kids pull out and changes it to a bigger couch or maybe figure out a way to do a ceiling pull down bunk. This issue seems to be one of the biggest negatives of the room. Not bad enough to make me change my booking. Thank goodness my girls are small. Other than that I still feel like the room is an incredible deal for the benefits.

Sandy Toes in Nassau anyone done it?
Generalchadwick replied to Generalchadwick's topic in Shore Excursions
I wanted to come back and answer this just incase anyone else was looking for information on this or was concerned like I was. First off the excursion was awesome. I would 100% recommend especially if you have childern they will love it. Also even though we were there during Spring Break and had what appeared to be a full boat out to the island, it didn't feel crowded on the island at all. Pigs were great and were treated well. As for my original post. We did get back right around 3:45pm. There were plenty of Taxis waiting. I just raised my hand and said Cruise port and immediate was ushered to a cab. No traffic back to port we were getting out of the cab just before 4:00pm. We had enough time to let Grammy buy some rum cake and get back on the ship before 4:20p so all my worry and tossing and turning the night before was for nothing. -
Sorry to be that guy asking one of these types of questions. I truly am an experienced cruiser so it pains me to ask such a newb question. Doing this excursion next week and have a 8:00a to 5:00p time allotted in Nassau with this tour saying it gets you back to the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal at 3:45p. Is that enough time has anyone have experience with them? Also just curious of your thoughts on the excursion overall. Thanks!
