  1. My thoughts exactly, and I didn't see any chartreuse cocktails. But yesterday I remembered a cruise last year on Harmony: in the Central Park Trellis bar, I saw banana liqueur behind the counter just as I was about to order. I changed my mind and asked for a banana daiquiri (preferably on the rocks) .... and the bartender said she couldn't make it! I asked "a daquiri on the rocks with some of that liqueur?" (no need for blender or actual bananas) and she said that didn't sound like a real drink! She blended up some concoction with CHOCOLATE and who knows what else (it was awful). By now a line formed, so I just ordered something "normal". I never did ask her what the banana liqueur was actually for; I assumed some of the punches (I didn't see it listed anywhere). anyway........just an odd bar memory about ingredients!
  2. My look-see at the posted bar menus says no, but...can anyone confirm if Chartreuse (liqueur - green or yellow) is available in any RC bars? Specifically Quantum, but any really.
  3. We are only used to embarking in Florida ports, so I'm trying to get prepared for Seattle. We are looking up videos and pics, but would appreciate any current info on these specific questions. We have our ride to the port, and once dropped off we will follow the crowd. At some point, is there a designated line outside (prior to the first documentation check) for suites or Keys? Is there a designated line inside for suites/keys? I'm just trying to compare to our experiences in different Florida ports that had one or both of those; I figure if I move my group of six efficiently, we will cause less stress for OTHER travelers as well as for us! Has baggage drop-off gotten any better? Are the RC porters clearly marked? Again, just trying to go in knowledgeable so as not to hold up the line or get in anyone's way!
  4. Were you able to check ALL your luggage through the Key? Or just smaller carry-on size? I thought I read about a weight/size limit for Key luggage holds.
  5. I was just suspicious, because in four years of cruising I have only ever seen the exact price we already paid, with the option to "reserve again". Never lower, never higher. So it seemed like the CP was only reporting what I already purchased and I just started feeling like I wasn't checking the right place for "current" prices.
  6. oh no! Honestly didn't! I wasn't aware there were other plans besides the unlimited, and really stopped reading up on them when I discovered that you couldn't book ahead (we are planners, and travel with others, so we "need" that). So I was really asking about a 5-night and 3-night plan (I will look them up!). I was legit asking as a relative newbie how to read the cruise planner options. I really would read that "overview" and hit "reserve now" and think/expect the "what's included" terms to be real. Twangster, I read your advice and posts here and learn from you!
  7. We've not yet purchased a dining package because of the limitations on reserving the times (ahead of time). So we have no experience with this. Can you explain "a 5 night dining package"? If one clicks "reserve now" under that description: "What's Included Unlimited visits to speciality dining restaurants every night of your sailing and lunch on sea days." why couldn't one expect to receive that? I'm just trying to figure out how to read the CP offers. If I saw that in the app and clicked to reserve it....I'd pretty much expect to get what they wrote. I'm not trying to be argumentative with you, but because of your experience just trying to learn how to be a wiser reader of the offers.
  8. So I keep reading the advice to book the drink package you want, and re-book if the price decreases. And, I get notifications on the app of drink package sales (as well as the heads' up sometimes given here). BUT. We have done a handful of cruises since 2019 and whenever I look for these sales, the planner has only ever given me the same price I already paid, with the option to "reserve again". Never once have I seen a lower price. What am I doing wrong?
  9. Oh dear; this happened last month and we were given until Apr 20 to make a decision. Wonder why the delay on the CP end now?
  10. I posted a similar question in Roll Call, but just noticed a new oddness. Our trip's itinerary was changed and we elected to keep the cruise. I noticed excursions weren't opening up. But I now see when I drilled down into the different days' offerings....they don't show the new itinerary. They don't show any itinerary except one "at sea" day (with an excursion or two from the former itinerary!). Anybody know what's going on? I'm only concerned because with some other upcoming cruises, the dining and excursions are filling up (now that ships are at capacity). I guess I'll babysit the app, but I was curious if anyone has any info. Generally, when cruises change itineraries, how long does it take to update the app? I'm worried about losing any specialty dining we had booked for the "old" cruise. Specifically, the cruise is Nov 2 of this year, on Independence. I'd say that maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I've seen some excursions for a January cruise, and they seem to be out and booked for a late Sept/early Oct one. Seems like first week of November, at least the itinerary should be correct in the planner.
  11. The Independence cruise for Nov 2 - 6 changed itineraries (we were notified a month ago). Does anyone know why excursions are not showing up in the cruise planner? We have a cruise in Jan '24, and many excursions are showing up for that one. This IOTS Nov cruise is going to the old standbys CocoCay and Nassau, so the excursions should almost be boilerplate (esp the CocoCay day).
  12. discounted drink tickets! Seems like a halfway point that guarantees RC prepaid money, without "making" people drink a set minimum per day to validate the entire drink package.
  13. oooh yes! would also like to hear this. Planning splurges for my kids.... (my adult kids)
  14. Thank you! This will happen at the port as we disembark? Will I need to do anything at Vancouver airport upon entering/boarding? Or not until we land back in the US, at our "home" airport?
  15. I believe I read that Diamond members can "share" their drink vouchers with their travel companions (that is, a non-drinking Diamond member can give their drink voucher to their drinking spouse). What about Prime members? If I'm Prime but don't drink, may I order a cocktail and give that to my travel partner?
  16. bumping this up! We have the same question. Wondering what the procedure is as a US citizen disembarking as well as boarding the plane in Vancouver. First-timers!
  17. We always wear long pants (whether dark jeans or slacks/trousers) and a collared or polo shirt/blouse. On his last trip, our traveling companion wanted to wear a suit for two formal nights. By the time he packed the suit, shirts, and extra shoes (size 15s) his usual luggage was now overweight and/or he had to use two suitcases. Clearly, his luggage for seven days is already toeing the line for weight limits (two changes/day, even if he re-wears shorts/pants he wants fresh shirts....it's HOT!). But adding formal wear does become burdensome on a flight. We save the suits and dresses for formal occasions closer to home....but we still go above t-shirt/shorts. I had asked about formal dressing on here, because we wanted to make sure we were appropriate for things like the Chef's Table. We got, and followed, the same general consensus above. We've been to two of those dinners and....trust me, we were extremely appropriate (no suits needed, based on attendance both times). But everyone still looked great! VACATION great.
  18. can it be retroactively applied to a cruise already booked? If yes: if a suite is prebooked, can you apply the free prime cruise and "just" pay an upgrade fee? (I think I saw this addressed in another thread, but the search function here is confoundingly specific and I can't seem to enter the right search terms)
  19. I was thinking the same! There are definitely a ton on their cruise info website. I was wondering if it was a fair mix of "cosplay" attendees as well as "conference/lecture" attendees with Q&A's, stories, etc from the actors/writers. I'd imagine nonstop trivia contests! Looking forward to hearing from those who've experienced it!
  20. From what I've read, you have to follow "your" group's plans/announcements, generally by following their social media (whatever group you may be a fan of). RC doesn't announce/advertise for them. If I'm wrong, I'd appreciate an update though.
  21. We signed up for their cruise newsletter (https://startrekthecruise.com/mailing-list/) ) so that it stays on our radar; just trying to get the timing right.
  22. Has anyone been on one of the Star Trek charter cruises and would like to share what they are like? I'm curious about the kinds of events (I've not seen Compasses from any). What kinds of activities? Do people dress up nightly? Also, are traditional RC benefits/points/dining options etc honored (and accumulated)? Is the casino open? So curious!
  23. I asked for solo cruising advice on here for a friend of mine. He was encouraged to make sure to choose dining that seats him with others. He now has FOUR upcoming cruises with the friends he made at the dining table! They hit it off and hung out for the games and events during the cruise, kept in touch, and now look forward to cruising together from March to next January!
