  1. I wasn’t aware Australia has American style PVSA and cruise ships get a exemption but apparently the exemption is under review. I was wondering why Royal Caribbean only has a couple of domestic cruises for the 25-26 season. https://cruiseweekly.com.au/news/govt-silent-on-cruise-exemption/78903 https://cruisepassenger.com.au/news/cruise-industry-campaign-for-change/
  2. The Four seasons would be the best if you can get a good deal. It has some of the best harbour views in Sydney, It’s steps away from the Rocks, light rail (street car) , Circular Quay train station and ferry terminal plus where you will board Ovation. The rooms are on the small side but you will get that with most hotels. It has a excellent club lounge on one of the top floors.
  3. Quantum and Voyager class won’t go through the Panama Canal and it would be winter in Europe anyway. About the only place they can send them at the moment is California or Australia.Singapore usually gets a ship from China during the northern winter ,so we can rule that out. We don’t really need another cruise terminal in Sydney now ,put that way ! I wonder what has really caused it ,I suppose a combination of things.
  4. It’s a bit of a worry but Royal needs somewhere to send their Alaskan ships during the northern winter. I think we will always get one in Sydney. All those port upgrades that have been done, like Eden and Hobart to take a Oasis class is waste of money.
  5. A rumour Azamara might move in ? Where are those Vision class ? Are they still for sale? Wouldn't be good to see a year round joint venture with RCG https://cruisepassenger.com.au/news/azamara-may-send-ships-to-australia/
  6. On cruise planner ,if you book something like booze or internet ,and cheaper price jumps up then you cancel it ,people are getting problems. I have been getting reports that you can be penalised for cancelling. I have never had a problem but I just want to ask the experts .
  7. I was on Celebrity Edge a few months ago and got some iMessages out without internet. I strangely got a global roaming bill for 20 cents. I didn’t make or receive any calls. Now my Phone company says I was incorrectly charged $66 for global roaming and it will be refunded. Its the only occasion it could have happened but I will take their money.
  8. I doubt we will see an around Australia for awhile because of the big fuel burn and the carbon emissions.
  9. P&O Australia will be no more as of early next year.Carnival will absorb it. P&O Explorer will disappear, probably the scrap yard and one of the carnival ships may go somewhere else in the future. Thats another brand and 2 ships gone from the Australian market but they are old dirty ships. Doing us a favour really. Royal Caribbean are you listening? https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2024/06/carnival-cruise-line-to-absorb-po-australia-in-2025/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2SU_S_uRMobBEfy6Q37-V-GMYZPLt2zHey_EjYy5tnsdm2XSBtIGHTb74_aem_Ab1d_0Wyd2CYcjBAdmxfEP77_tnhX2H2Kq-R-AvwWIWJ-_bWCV4z0jge7Io-RTINfyLF0hTSGEwjLts3sY8AT6xc#google_vignette
  10. Serenade is up for a dry dock from what I understand and has some port bookings in the Caribbean ??? Radiance is a mystery ,the only speculation I can go along with is it could go to Australia for the 25-26 season and return to Alaska. The speculation is Voyager may not do a repositioning through the Suez Canal because of the trouble there. Radiance may repo to Singapore via Japan and pick up Voyager’s itinerary and home port in Brisbane for the season.
  11. I just got a email they are now matching tiers .
  12. A pretty good drone show for the return of Spectrum .
  13. Well ,short distance and while in port they don’t use as much fuel is what I was getting at , Not the length of time. Im still trying to find out if port days add to their emissions. Places where they hook up to shore power could be debatable. Los Angeles would be a good example and they probably hook up to renewable energy while in port
  14. I wonder if Voyager goes to Singapore after the Brisbane 25-26 season. Short cruises keep emissions down ,it’s all they can do at the moment. Hopefully we will be producing ship methanol here soon . There is supposed to be 2 plants coming online ,One in Tasmania and one here in Victoria.
  15. Folks, if you where thinking about booking Anthem or Celebrity Edge out of Sydney during the 25-26 season. Get the credit card out !!! The competition is pretty bleak and they are selling quickly ,even Voyager looks like a premium ship compared to the Carnival and P&O ships. A few friends went on Carnival out of Sydney and they said it was worse than P&O . Filthy old Costa ships run over with kids and drunks.
  16. I would say the main factor is emissions. I was told by our local RC ,our biggest problem here is the long distance to anywhere . Theres a big fuel burn involved and it’s going to be difficult to meet the incoming emissions laws .They told me RC will be moving their ships to places where there’s short hauls and more ports. And I suppose , the money is better somewhere else.
  17. You can have them,I think Cunard has pulled out of Australia also. The only quality competition left for RCG in Australia is Disney and the way Anthem is selling out ,there’s definitely room for another Royal ship in Sydney.
  18. It looks like Princess is pulling another ship out of Australia. With Virgin gone there must be a market for a third Royal ship. https://www.travelgossip.co.uk/product-news/grand-princess-to-homeport-in-san-juan-for-winter-2025-6/
  19. No ,not yet, I’m hoping it might be a glitch and it will fix itself.
  20. It’s a pretty impressive cruise terminal,an Oasis class would certainly be accommodated there.
  21. Yes I have, they ask for a secret question like my school but it’s not valid
  22. I haven’t been able to log in to cruise planner or the app for a week.
  23. They look pretty confident about the cruise market.
