I have a cruise at April on Jewel , I did not cancel it , I have took advantage on the panic and successfully upgraded my cabin to a JS from a balcony , cost was 0 ...
No one died on princess  ship  although many new people are infected. Good news is that mostly this virus is not fatal and most of the people recover after mild symptoms , who ever got the symptoms was taken to an hospital for treatment (and they have very good hospitals in Japan). The bad news is the number of new cases every day (We are around 350 people now) but that can be due to the fact its not 100% quarantine, for sure not for the crew.

We're going on the quantum on the 30th April and hoping to get some descent upgrades by then with all the cancellations etc. I've been watch whats available  and on Friday there was only 1 joiner suit available but Saturday there were 5 and strangely it was cheaper to pick your own than to take RC random choice {It was still to expensive for my blood but hears hoping}.

But do the people reporting the numbers lie?  I also don't think people outside of China have much to worry about right now.  But I don't think we're getting the real numbers out of China.  If the death rate is below the flu's death rate, then why are they dragging infected people out of their houses in Wuhan?  There's no reason to do that with the flu, you'd just let them recover at home.  Therefore, it seems logical to assume the Chinese government sees this as way worse than the flu.

Don't believe all the media hype either a lot of the videos that have appeared have been proved to be false also, the WHO & CDC have been in china since early Feb and have not challenged the numbers of infected or deaths reported.

The numbers of new infections has drop considerably lately.

  3. universal remote and goggle are you salvation, even if the TV has been locked {most big hotel chains do this in the UK} - there is a unlock code for most TV on the market. I've never failed to unlock one. {The only problem you will have is getting online to find the right code - so best to do when in port unless you buy the wifi package.

Google cast {relatively cheap} is a better way than a cable to connect your device as you can have you device on you lap to control the play back.

  4. I'm a UK national and always use a zero foreign  transaction fee card the "Halifax Verity"card is my go to card when abroad it also allows for no charge cash from cash machines but interest is charged for cash from the day you withdraw it.

Therefore I have 2 cards one for foreign cash withdrawals and one for charging.

I pay off the cash withdrawal within 24 hrs via online banking to avoid interest charges.

Also never take the exchange rate offered by cash machines or customer services but let card company use theirs its always a better rate.

Agree. Try calling again.  For each room, you should be able to move it as long as same category.  We did this both times with a guarantee room. Giot assigned a forward room and moved each to more central (different cruises).

So you should be able to move each...and if there happens to be 2 next to each other, or even closer in proximity of same category room, they should be able move the rooms.  But of course, this depends on availability.

It appears that UK customers have to use the UK call centre and the agents seem to be more policy minded, I've even emailed them but still no joy.

It has to do with the differences in law. I'm sure Royal would rather have just one policy. Maybe then their customer service reps could keep it all straight! ? But they have to accommodate the various quirks in all the countries.

Yea, there must be a consumer regulation that forces RC to accept repricing in the US but the not in the UK. I cant blame them trying to make as much money as possible but its still annoying.

Once you are assigned a room, you can call and move your room to any other available room in the exact same category.  But this is a gamble as you don't know when you will get your assignment and what rooms are available.  And if you want connecting, even less likely one or two are available after your assignments.

If getting two rooms together is important, then I would book them straight out.

I tried that and they refused to move them, "If you wanted them together you should of paid the premium" and I only asked to move one so they were at least on the same deck.

1st time with RC with this and the no repricing policy for UK customers I'm starting to wish we booked with another line.
