I went ahead and did this yesterday for my cruise planner purchases on Odyssey. Left the Wonder cruise alone since it’s paid in full. We’ll see how it plays out. I’m confident it’ll be ok in the end.

So you just cancelled and rebooked?

    How it's looking so far?

Did you received all refund and new purchases emails? With correct info? And the credit card was charged again?

No, didn't purchase anything on the 8th since I saw this thread.  Waited for RC's system to work it's problems out for a few days 😀

    Clearly didn't wait long enough.

So the ones you've purchased, went through to the card without any problems?

That's what I'm also worried about, thinking to cancel the purchases that weren't charged for, and just rebook right now, but afraid or would make the matter worse and confuse everyone even more.

As of now all purchases show as reserved and paid in full. Confirmed through the rep. So they don't really want to escalate it to resolutions, since they don't see a problem at all.

But for me, and thinking of thousands of others, it's a big problem, since our pending charges disappeared and didn't fully went through the credit card.

If I knew it would be such a big /strange problem, I would definitely waited till at least the next day.

I found and read through the whole long thread, exactly 2 yrs ago on black friday. Apparently exactly same problem, and people were charged almost a month later, around December 20-21...

Thank you for sharing this here, and earlier.  Just had the same thing happen to me with a cruise planner issue, although lucky my cruise wasn't cancelled.

    Side notes:

    • I only used my AMEX to pay for the original booking deposit; the remaining charges (cruise + cruise planner) have been on a MasterCard.
    • This was before RC's final payment due of 12/4, and before my cruise was paid in full on 11/15.

I had an existing excursion paid and reserved (from September 2023), but found a sale during the Black Friday deals.  Cancelled the excursion on 11/12, and re-purchased the excursion on 11/12 at the lower price.

On 11/16 and 11/17, I received two separate refunds on the AMEX for the excursion cancelled on 11/12, which was paid for on the MC.

I got an email on 11/18 from RC indicating I had an outstanding balance due.  So I log in wondering what the issue was, since I made final payment on 11/15.  First screen shows the "You don't have a balance due".

    FirstScreen.thumb.png.0e14f24bc4919fb1efee4f75cc8bc6e9.png

But then when I went to "Make a Payment" page, there is a balance owed:

    MakeaPayment.thumb.png.1d0e57dae511d9f796044faf130b0005.png

Low and behold, it's the same amount as the refunded excursion.

Long story short - 3 calls to RC (one on 11/18 and two on 11/19), I finally found a rep that understood what was happening.  He escalated it to the resolutions department for a while, and had to call me back.  He admitted it was an RC issue behind the scenes, that the refund from cruise planner was showing on the cruise balance somehow, and they were 'working' to correct the system issue.

I've got another excursion paid for in Nassau, but want to cancel and do something else, but now I'm worried that it's going to cause this problem all over again.

Thank goodness I keep check on this stuff - who knows what the end result would have been!

    Thanks for all the info,

But you didn't purchased anything on the 8th? That's interesting since all our problems happening for the November 8th purchases. My other purchase a few days later, went though without any problems.

And I'm thinking about another fact, at least for me. I've booked through travel agency, and although cruise still like 6 months away and not paid for, payment go through travel agency, and the same screen on Royal's system, showing paid in full from the beginning.

  4. Tried talking to rep on Twitter, like someone said before. Completely useless. Checked, said all booked. Just like I see in website myself. No additional or further info available she said. Not even a reference # or credit card detailed info. Sounds like they just looking at the same screen as we are...

    Well that was fast.

Did the cruise planner already said the same BS?

Can you guys try to ask more specific questions.

Do they have a reference # for credit card transactions. Each successful transaction from Royal on my credit card, have this very long reference # attached to it.

I thought the same... Should we?

Update from twitter - she said everything looks fine and sent me a copy of all my planner purchases 🤦‍♀️

I tried again to explain why it is a problem, why I'm trying to elevate the concern, that billing/accounting dept needs to know, it is not just me but many of us, etc. We'll see.

Not sure, afraid to cancel, because then it's a different problem, if refund goes through, you basically getting refunded for something you haven't even paid for... It's becoming more complicated.

So sounds like in your case, they won't be doing anything about it? Case closed?

One problem here, I think, is that when we each call and get different reps, no one at RCI knows that there is a systemic problem with the payments right now. Each rep just handles the individual concern and then goes on about their day. Things look fine in the cruise planner, so the rep doesn't think it is a big deal.

I still don't have these two charges on my card. I did tweet at Royal last night and heard back this morning - just sent over my reservation and transaction numbers so we'll see what happens there. Maybe by getting the social media team involved, it can elevate to the level of knowing this is an issue for a bunch of us, not just one person having a problem here, another person having a problem there, etc. It IS really hard to explain to them - no one seems to understand why it is a concern that we haven't had to pay yet for the stuff we purchased. I'm trying to explain the best I can with my tweet but I can see how the complaint doesn't seem like a problem.

    Keep me/us informed

Yes, they might not see a problem, but it is. Since we don't know what if anything would happen once the system catches up.

And if the problem was indeed on the 8th. There's possibly thousands, hundreds of thousands of such purchases that wasn't charged for.

I was thinking of maybe canceling 1 and reorder? But not sure. Maybe it would make this matter worse

So me and you are in the same boat. Mine is on Dec 24th. I think we are both fine. The point is there is nothing we can do at the moment until something actually happens. The good thing is if something were to happen, we can pinpoint the reason why. Enjoy your weekend, let's not stress about this or it will drive us crazy!

    Of course you can do

Call Royal Caribbean, talk to them, ask for supervisor if no luck, and find out why payment wasn't processed

This is what it says, this excursion was brought on the 8th and then returned on the 10th for a lower price.

When I click on payments it shows the CP purchases as part of the balance.

Did you purchased cruise directly from Royal? Because I'm not seeing any of that, I bought through travel agency. And purchases only show up in order history through the web.

I'm kind of confused, your refunds are showing as charges? Or I got it wrong

I don't know exactly what happened no ... I think it is why people owe money after paying in full.  These cruise planner purchases wind up being applied to the cruise fare.

That was long ago, like couple of yrs.

    Somewhat similar, but not.

So don't mix it all up in same bowl.

From what everyone is saying now, including myself. This purchases so far showing and confirmed by Royal Caribbean as PAID IN FULL.

That may change, no guarantee, especially that credit card charges DISAPPEARED, but they were charged, approved and noted as paid in the Royal Caribbean system.

But keep us informed, if you call, of any and all pertinent info.

This might help me and the others.

the purchases I made on the 8th are no longer on my card.  the ones I made on the 9th have cleared and posted to my card 🤷‍♂️

Hi Mark, welcome to this thread.

So it's definitely something to do with the 8th. Hopefully, it won't ruin the cruise or purchases itself if not fixed.

So far, I have no idea what to do. Royal is saying it's booked, credit card saying it was approved, and it's merchant who haven't finalized transactions.

  12. 18 minutes ago, Dad2Cue said:

Click the payment history button and my charges were listed as pending payments.  I doubt they will submit the payments because I don't owe anything.

That's because you probably purchased directly

I've showed you how it looks when you buy through travel agency

  13. 5 minutes ago, Dad2Cue said:

On the app and I log into my cruise under "manage my cruise."

OK, I found it, because I've bought through travel agency / agent, my info there is all paid in full. Even though I still have big balance. And there's no other info on purchases in this section.

If I go into excursions, is shows RESERVED and on website in order history there's more detailed info, says  BOOKED.

I just found my cruise planner purchases in the payment history section for my cruise.  My cruise is listed as paid in full.  The charges are listed as pending.  Eventually I will probably owe something for my cruise.

    Listed as pending?

Where? On Royal Caribbean or credit card?

The only status on Royal Caribbean is booked for any purchases, there's no pending.

    Can you post a screenshot?

I didn’t. I just care about the cruise balance still being paid in full. As long as that’s fine, I could care less if they end up cancelling my Chops lunch reservation.

whens your next cruise that you are worried that this might affect it?

    Cruise is still 6 months

And I bought it through travel agency, so all payments go through them as well. So THEORETICALLY they can't even add anything to the cruise fare.

But regardless, I still need all the excursion that I've purchased.

  16. 17 minutes ago, jbrinkm said:

Nope! (sorry for delay - I was busy away from computer all day...)

Reservations still intact. I think I'll call Royal again on Monday. I don't think the rep I talked to knew what he was doing.

Appreciate if you let us, know then.

I'm really concerned. Free is good.

But cruise and reservations that I've made, a lot of them, are more important.

    Thanks

So I just looked at my credit card statement and saw that the Chop's lunch reservation I made on the cruise planner on the 8th isn't showing up. However on the Royal website it still shows the reservation. I didn't get any emails though that said I have $0.00 balance due. I just called Royal to to make sure there was no funny business and that my cruise was paid in full and they confirmed it was and that there was no balance due. I guess I'll just accept the free Chops!

Just thought about it, I've purchased excursions only, different orders and ships. But looks like it's food as well. Same 11.08

    When is your cruise?

No one is against free excursions or purchases. We just afraid that somehow the system will update just before the cruise and hell happens...

Or will update in like a month, then we'll loose all the discounts on purchases

All I was told is that there was some glitch with the cruise planner.  I don't recall having booked/canceled anything before it happened, so unfortunately I can't speak to that.

I hear you, just not sure what to do in our cases. Maybe a glitch... Maybe not.

Besides credit card charges... Everything else showing booked and paid, no balance for any purchases.

November 8th, specifically that date, when cruise planner Black Friday sales started, people including myself report canceling items and rebooking them at lower prices. Nothing is charged to credit cards. Logging into the website or app shows everything looks good and is reserved. The concern is what SpeedNoodles mentioned, where unpaid purchases are added to a cruise balance, making it overdue and the system automatically cancels the entire cruise due to this glitch.

That leads to weird emails about a balance due, pay now or risk cancellation. The email states $0.00 is due, adding to the confusion. This happened to me on the Wonder cruise that’s paid in full. The most accurate and updated balance due is at the bottom of their website, not the upcoming cruises tab where all your cruises are listed. That’s where I noticed my canceled Hideaway Beach purchase was added to the overall cruise balance making it appear overdue. I paid it to ensure that hopefully the cruise isn’t cancelled.

Calling customer service did not help. Partially due to a language barrier. I asked for the resolutions department and was denied. After explaining my situation, she asked if I want to sleep separate or together? I was told everything is ok, and she said stay on the line for a survey. 7 purchases, totaling over $1,000 for the Odyssey cruise that’s not paid in full have not been charged on my credit card.  It sure if I should keep calling, or just give it more time?

Nicely said, I don't see much or any of language problems.

    Maybe keep calling?

But it's almost impossible, as I see it, to explain to them what seems to be the problem, since they are saying, probably from same screen, that it's booked and paid.

  21. 5 minutes ago, SpeedNoodles said:

Maybe these days.  This was not the case when it happened to me.  I did get the "zero balance" email, which I thought was weird.  And then I got notice that all of my cruise planner purchases were canceled and refunded, and my cruise was just non-existent.  My TA spent most of Mother's Day weekend getting my stateroom and cruise planner purchases back.

This is RARE.  Most cruises go off without a hitch.

When this happened to you, what was the deal with cruise planner purchases?

Not charged to your card completely?

Or charged, pending, then drop off?

    Or something else?

    If you can share /explain

    Thx
