I called, and asked for the resolutions department. The person on the phone wanted to know why. After explaining what happened, she sent me a new invoice showing nothing is due. Assured me everything is okay on their end. I said none of my purchases from 11/8 have charged my credit card. Again, she assured me everything shows it’s been paid, and is okay. Told me to contact the credit card company.

    Thanks for another update

Glad no hear all is good with cruise itself...

Very interesting, what's going on with 11.8

Royal keep saying all is good and paid

And of course credit card can't really do anything about it, since charges were approved and not canceled for any reason by the credit card company.

Rule of thumb from experience - don't cancel and rebook ANY Cruise Planner purchases after final payment. New Cruise Planner purchases after that event are fine, but we've seen too many times that changes after payment in full have had this exact same issue (not just Black Friday).

Thanks, my problem, and I'm sure many others are sort of different if you've seen another thread.

Booked a bunch of NEW stuff as soon as they came out, on the 8th.

Credit card was charged, charges pending, received confirmation emails, separate cruises, in like 5 min or less.

Then around 3-4 day mark, pending charges disappeared from the card.

Order history and everything, still showed, booked and paid for cruise planner purchases. But still no charges on my card that went through.

Purchases another item, about 3 days later after initial. All went without any problems, was processed and on the card in 3 days.

Now me, and many other don't know what to do. Royal says all good. Card, chase in my case saying it's the merchant that must collect the transaction and so far didn't, that's why it disappeared, that was authorized and pending on the card...

I went ahead and contacted Chase about these charges. They said that they were originally approved on the 9th but then Royal cancelled the transactions. My 2 missing charges on the card are still active and valid in the cruise planner. So then I called Royal and got through right away. He checked my planner and said my transactions were fine but I pushed a little, telling him that I do NOT have these charges on my card and I don't want anything cancelled later. He went (somewhere), came back, and said the credit charges should appear by the end of the day. I guess we'll see 🤷‍♀️

Wondering same thing, did the charges appeared back on the card, like Royal rep told you they will?

I got this email for a cruise that’s been paid in full. Searching the internet, looks like this is a long standing issue that’s unresolved, with some people having cruises cancelled due to an “IT glitch”.

11/8 I cancelled and rebooked 8 items on the cruise planner when the Black Friday sales started. None of those have been charged to my CC, despite showing reserved in the cruise planner.

3 days ago I cancelled and rebooked Hideaway Beach. The refund I was supposed to receive instead went to my cruise balance, which I paid just to be safe and not have the entire cruise cancelled.

Looks like this is getting complicated, now I need to call about the balance due that was paid in full already, getting a refund for Hideaway Beach that was added to cruise fare, plus find out why my 11/8 cruise planner purchases didn’t charge my CC.

    Sounds like a big mess...

Waiting to hear what they tell you and do about 11.08 purchases...

Looks like there's various responses from Royal Caribbean, but so far haven't heard anyone, that those missing charges actually been resolved.

Seems like Chase bank is the common denominator.

I made about $1200 worth of cruise planner purchases on Nov, 9.  All the transactions appear on my American Express statement as posted on the 9th.  Also cancelled about $500 worth of purchases the same day, all refunds show as posted on Nov 10th.

Not sure, if it's related to chase, since chase holds a lot of cards, my is Amazon.

I'm thinking it's more related if it was purchased on the 8th. Received my confirmation email shortly after. However in order history on website, it says that order made on the 9th. And had order from 2 separate cruises.

I've placed another order on 11th, same credit card, and 3 days later it was processed normally.

A similar issue occurred a few years ago and the explanation sounds familiar. Apparently, the process is: (1) Royal submits charges to CC, (2) CC confirms either approved or declined, and finally (3) Royal electronically "collects" the funds from the CC.

Chase claims I'm stuck in step 3 right now... Royal has not reached out to collect after Chase verified/approved the amount(s).

Yes, exactly. That's about what happens.

So you thinking should wait and see? Or I should call Royal and ask?

Without calling my Chase card, I know 100% that credit card have nothing to do with it. Since it approved 2 transactions when Royal charged the card seconds after purchase made.

  7. 2 minutes ago, jbrinkm said:

So I wonder if some of this is wording - my rep said "cancelled" the transaction but @JohnK6404's rep said not yet "collected". I'm hoping John's rep is right and that the charges just reappear soon.

    Maybe it's just wording,

I'm aware that the charge must be collected, or whatever it's called.

Amazon does it all the time, sometimes card gets authorized, but it only goes through after you receive the shipment

And royal does it when you on a cruise. My card gets authorizations almost every day, but they slowly disappear one by one and only one total charge for the cruise goes through to the card afterwards.

OK, here's my update... As mentioned previously, on the evening of 11/8 I cancelled one previously purchased CP item, rebooked it at the lower sale price, and purchased 5 other items. The credit from the cancellation hit my Chase VISA within a couple of days with 11/9 as the transaction date. None of the 6 purchases from that evening have posted or appeared as pending on my Chase VISA.

I called Royal Caribbean via the Crown & Anchor number (800-526-9723) and got through immediately. The rep confirmed all 6 items were in "Approved" status in their system (vs. "Pending") and I should have absolutely nothing to worry about... They of course suggested I call Chase to find out why these charges have not posted to my account.

I called Chase and they explained all 6 transactions are showing as "Approved" in their system (not declined), but have not posted because Royal has not "Collected" the funds electronically to date. Only after the funds are collected by Royal, and the transaction is fully completed, will the charges post to the credit card.

I called back RC... the CS rep had no idea what I was referring to and just explained that everything is proper/approved in their system and I have nothing to worry about...

So, Chase explained the posting "issue", but Royal CS apparently could not offer anything further.

I'll just wait a few more days and call back if these funds are not collected by Royal. 😬

But in your case, the charges never appeared on credit card as pending?

    Correct?

Mine was pending, and then after about 3-4 days disappeared.

Now, that's completely different story now. Maybe I should call as well. Also Chase.

I would say sort of similar, maybe between $1900 and $2500 in interiors. Because I was originally booked on the inaugural and my GTY was $4900 for two people.

Honestly, those are insane prices to pay for interior cabin that may end up somewhere on Deck 3...

1 minute ago, OCSC Mike said:

But that test load was for off-season, not the inaugural. The Star inaugural could easily be something like $3000pp or more for an interior, lol.

When was the test load for? Dates?

    Remember the prices? Approx.

  11. 8 minutes ago, Lovetocruise2002 said:

Someone refresh my memory...What was the starting prices on Icon's inaugural? I cannot remember.

How does it compare to that test load for Star?

That was long ago, after that Royal drastically increased prices all over the fleet. Just purchased icon for fall 24, because new itineraries for fall 25 is almost 50% more of what I've just paid.

I repeat, just paid. Not when it was released...

I cancelled something and bought it back for 50% off.  Both transactions happened within minutes of each other.   The refund posted within two days.  The repurchase part of the deal seems to have disappeared.  It is hard to complain about something like that.  In the past, I needed  to wait for a month for a refund to happen.  I guess I can wait that long for the purchase transaction to happen.  As long as they don't say I never purchased it.

Yes, seems like at this moment refunds are working like they should, like in the stores. 3 business days...

Of course, not saying comp main, just worrying that transactions are complete. Since after credit card transaction is processed, there's long reference # attached to it. Since transaction isn't processed, there's no reference #.

All we have to go on to is initial order #.

And who knows, Royal may later just cancel them all and say that credit card denied them all.

All will end up with this purchases, and of course without 50% or less discounts.

  13. 14 minutes ago, Dad2Cue said:

My pending charges on my credit card disappeared overnight.  My purchases in cruise planner are unchanged.  Ethically ... I probably should say something but eventually I will forget about it as long as my purchases remain.

I think I will wait a week or two and see what happens.

Yes, you have exactly same problem now. I can't decide what to do if anything either....

I have sailed quite a few times with Celebrity.  Had itinerary desired and price was really good with All included and OBC.

This sailing doing i booked at Next Cruise while on Explorer of Seas and then transfer to travel agent where it fell into group space so more OBC and then price dropped along the way .

For airfare booked package thru Delta Vacations to do air and hotel and was able to use Delta Miles and it was much cheaper than doing separately or AirtoSea.

Even now with Delta Sky Miles changing, many airlines are status matching so that's a plus to explore and see what's out there.

All can say you need a good travel agent and have a set budget that works for you and not what agent says.  Deals can be found maybe not as good or many like pre Covid but you just need to set tone for new reality of pricing.  You just have to be open minded these days.  For me if it means open doors for other options that can offer sailings and quality of elegant experience i desire then i venture over and try it.

Celebrity all included was that with travel agency? Can't find any good ones that doing that

As long as cruise planner still shows my items in my purchase history ... I'm not too worried.  Maybe I should be worried ... However, if the temporary authorizations disappear but my purchase history stays the same ... I will be glad.  I don't know how to feel about it yet.

I got an email confirming my purchase.

Yes, same here, not too worried, but somewhat...

Purchase history showing all booked and cruise planner. Reservation email and credit card charge was almost right after purchase.

Just very strange with credit card, authorization holds after purchase, 99.99% of times become credit card charges and not disappeare!

That's my experience with online purchases. Done it probably hundreds of times or thousands...

That second part in December is rumoured to just be Star of the Seas.

If you are waiting for the rest of Royal's ships (ex. SY, OY, AL, FR, LB, etc.) you might be waiting until February.

And guessing Star, prices would be out of this world completely...

Would still probably wait, plus Celebrity, Carribean deployment should be released that same week.

It's been a damper day in sorrow seeing these rates even for the oldest ship in the fleet and then to add all the changes and cutbacks to add to the mix.

Dry dock syndrome might be in the cards with Royal.  Might need to venture horizon over to Princess or river cruises.  Waiting on Celebrity to release Europe because Royal itineraries for Europe were lack luster with no Iceland or Ireland.  Seems they were just basic cut and dry and no long sailing options.

Very disappointed and then with airfare rates so crazy

Currently in Barcelona having sangria to cry my sorrows over Royal itineraries releases.

Sad to say doing BTB 10 night Celebrity All included with OBC sailing this weekend and that rate wouldn't even cover Royal for a Caribbean sailing for 2025 for a measley 7 night

Yes, I know what you saying. I'm waiting for second part of Royal's release of Carribean and also Celebrity. Both should be week of December 4th.

Where did you get good deal with Celebrity? Travel agency?

I too am missing transactions (2) from the first day and may not have noticed. Thank you everyone for the heads up on this so we can get on top of it and hopefully not have the experience that @SpeedNoodles had!

I didn't participate in the BF sale 2 years ago (but great memory @Vlad!) but this is a different problem than I had last year. Last year, I had a gazillion "pending" charges that never went through. This time, nothing is pending, they are just either there or not there. I do already have the confirmation emails on both of my missing charges already (plus the order showing in the planner). I might go ahead and call if they don't show up in the next day or so.

    Huh. Mine is also Chase.

I've heard about last, year, but for me it was OK.

If you read my initial post. My charges were pending. Then disappeared. Because pending charges, depending on your card/bank, either get fully processed or they get released back to your available balance. Usually in like 3-4 days. But some saying this is sort of normal, and should come back to the card as a charge shortly. According to what I see on my account it's all booked. Can't even reserve anything on that time slot, Royal's system saying and showing that I already have another booked excursion.

  19. 9 minutes ago, Geezer Of The Seas said:

We have a Visa issued by Chase. What you're describing happens to us with some degree of frequency with any type of purchase. Posts to the credit card today, gone tomorrow, returns a day or two later. My wife watches financial activity like a hawk since we've been victims of a lot of funny business over the last 6 years to the point both of us pretty much have eternal free credit monitoring from a variety of companies. If Cruise Planner is showing your purchases ordered/paid, check the card activity daily. They will likely reappear.  Alternatively, call the card issuer's customer service. If you don't have a transaction #, provide them with date of purchase, amount, and merchant name. That should be sufficient for them to track it down. As long as the excursions didn't vanish from Cruise Planner, you're still good on Royal's end and it's likely a card issuer faux pax. Chase has never explained why this happens beyond "it sometimes happens".

Actually my card is Amazon, but it's issued by Chase.

Bought on the 8th, was pending for like 3-4 days. Then disappeared. Now it's 7th day, still nothing

But thanks for your reply. Hopefully all is good.
