  1. Sadly no, there isn't an easier way. You can get an idea, of course, by looking at the base fare (IE in my case the base fare went up $400 so there's no way it will magically work out to be less if I go through the whole process) but if it's close the only way to check is to go through the whole process. We all kinda hate that part but I'm pretty sure that, while Royal does honor price drops, they never planned for people to make use of them.
  2. As long as you are before final payment, you or your Travel Agent can do a mock booking on Royal's site (basically act like you're booking and go all the up to but not beyond the checkout page). If the final price is less than what you last paid call Royal or your TA and basically have them rebook at the current rate. You want to make sure though that doing so will not impact any deals you had at booking such as OBC so I would highly recommend using a TA.
  3. If you booked yourself you would have had the option to add it in at booking. Some TAs might add it in by default. I do believe you could even remove it now if you wanted and then confirm that again on board.
  4. On one hand...shame on her. Stealing is bad. On the other...I get it tho! Gotta scratch that cruise itch (and because this is the internet and it needs to be stated, I AM joking)
  5. Regarding hammoks..I don't know why I flatter myself into thinking I'm light enough for it to happen but I just imagine getting rocked and blown right over the side No Oscar Oscar Oscar for me!
  6. So....not a price drop per se but close enough I HAD to revive this! So...last night we booked a JS on Harmony for 8/5. It was relatively last minute/spontaneous as we had only discussed it for half a day before pulling the trigger. This morning I log in to start my normal price drop check and see that the room is now almost $400 more! Talk about by the skin of our teeth!
  7. I'm hoping we get lucky and still get them - our past two cruises where we weren't supposed to get them without asking they were in the room every night. I find I like the paper version for to look through in the evenings or morning with breakfast and the app version for while we're out and about on the ship looking for something to do between other things to do lol. Never tried the PDF version as i feel like it would be hard to read on my phone screen but I could be wrong....and if that's what we're moving to then *shrug*.
  8. This is a small bummer but overall not awful. JS seem to be wider than standard balcony rooms so there won't be the sideways shuffle to get into the room unless someone is sitting at the vanity. And since we're only 2, I don't think we'll run into that too often. Thanks all for the help!
  9. This is the most recent cruise compass on the site:https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compasses/odyssey-of-the-seas/sat-01282023-0000 The link is on the header of the main page now rather than in the forums
  10. I did also try "right way bed" with and without quotes but still got nothing. Seems to be working for me now though..of course.
  11. In looking at room tours on youtube and pictures on line...it doesn't seem like this applies to Jr Suites....They all seem to be oriented the same from what I could see. any knowledge on that?
  12. So I tried to search for this because I know the thread exists but...I guess the search is broken because "bed" comes back with 0 results. Anyway..my question: someone once posted about how to get a room with the bed on the "right side" of the room in balcony or jr suite cabins. Basically the configuration where the bed is by the window instead of by the door. As I now find myself looking at rooms that could have this configuration I was hoping to find that thread because someone (I think @WAAAYTOOO?) posted a hack that I wanted to try.
  13. A potential other option: if you and your hubby are okay snuggling on a full size mattress, the king can be split into two twins which the boys could use.
  14. *le sigh* I don't think I'd mind it as the main benefit we'd have to the morning cleaning to take away the breakfast plates and fresh ice but I do hope we can request AM or PM. PM comes with the towel animal, cruise compass, fresh bath linens, and mom prefers the ice at night anyway. It does maybe kind of suck that they're getting more rooms though. I know on paper it should be the same amount of work but I feel like in practice it's more since 2 cleanings in 12 rooms only meant 12 families vs 24 families with varying schedules, questions, needs etc.
  15. ooh! a live vlog I'm not too late for! an on Sweet Odyssey, our first mega ship
  16. I'd be so invested though cuz every ship would be new! ports and repositioning maybe even?!
  17. Unfortunately, once on land, you have to deal with the 3rd party Royal uses for their photo delivery. I don't remember who it is but I think historically they aren't the greatest.
  18. I got a mild case of what my doctor hypothesized was E.Coli (it never got bad enough to justify an emergency room visit so I was never tested for anything). My mom and I both got burgers from the place, same time, cooked same doneness. Only difference was I had lettuce and she didn't. Our assumption was the lettuce was probably improperly kept, maybe too close to the beef. It wasn't a fun 24 hours...I never hated water as much as I did that day
  19. I don't have any advice for you but I am EXCITED to follow along! I hope you remember us in 2024 and give us some check-ins. I'd love to hear what a first time cruiser thinks of LIVING on board!
  20. I don't think there is a limit on how many souvenir bottles you can bring on board - just what you can reasonably carry. Though there may be a n immigration thing if the value is over a certain amount but I will hazard a guess that you're not going to spend thousands on a single bottle. When you get back on at each port, you'll turn the bottles over to a little table and they'll package it up with your room number on it to be delivered to your stateroom around dinner time on the last night.
  21. Unless you or someone in your travel party is a VERY light sleeper, I don't think you'll have any issues. We've been on at least 3 sailings in Grand Suites directly below the below deck (since GS are usually only midship and on Freedom and smaller seem to be only on the top stateroom deck) and we've never heard the chairs being moved around or people in the pools or on the pool deck. And I sleep in AND take midday breaks in the room.
  22. Have any other cruisers seen or heard of the once-a-day room attending?
  23. I wish I could say something good about Enchantment, but honestly that whole adventure was kind of a bust for us. It was our second cruise and I didn't know the ships could be that different (we did Freedom first) so it wasn't until after booking that I saw it was a much smaller ship. We also flew in for a 4-day cruise which is a general no-no. And to top it off we had all Bahamas stops including everyone's hated Nassau and pre-perfect day CocoCay I don't think the ship itself was bad but the only thing I remember doing on board was going to a Star Wars trivia and feeling super alone and also kinda hating that Schooner is basically built in a hallway so people just trying to get around were squeezing by all the time. As for Grandeur: well, at the time of posting it kind of was in terms of getting a GS at around 2k with ports we're not bored sick of. But since looking at various areas of reviews, we've decided to be a bit more flexible because we both were disappointed with what we were seeing with Grandeur. Considering a guaranteed suite (something we'd never done before) really opens up our options a lot.
  24. I am so sad..I came over to the blogs and read this one because a last-minute-for-us change in vacationing plans means we may be looking at a Grandeur cruise this year instead of our planned land trip. As we had done Enchantment before, I was hoping a live blog would remind me of the good of a smaller ship...but instead between sewage smell, lack of entertainment (especially as mom and I are both quite introverted) and poor free food options I'm scared to pull that trigger. We would have more port days than you did and maybe that would make the experience better but idk....I'm nervous
