  1. How cool can you make the cabin at night? We usually sleep at 67-70F. And has anyone used the battery powered fans? I sleep with a small fan blowing directly on me at night.
  2. First time cruiser here. Would this type of lanyard work? https://www.amazon.com/KEYLION-Retractable-Carabiner-Waterproof-Resealable/dp/B07CSNVHHZ/ref=sr_1_46?crid=1RU8BH7IAXD7Z&keywords=cruise+retractable+lanyard&qid=1563549537&s=gateway&sprefix=cruise+retractabl%2Caps%2C154&sr=8-46
  3. Dec 5, 2019 Independence of the seas. 1st cruise.
  4. Sp basically, don't sweat it. Gotcha.
  5. I've been watching tons of YouTube videos and found conflicting information about the dlx drink package. Some are saying all of the specialty cocktails are priced above what the package covers, some are just saying the bartender ring it up no charge. Does this vary by ship, bartender, phase of the moon? We are on the Independence, and one of the reasons I bought it is to try several different liquors or cocktails that I have never had. Anyone know how it goes on Indy?
  6. Just Ft Lauderdale to Cozumel and back. Already wishing I had booked 7 days instead of 4.
  7. My first cruise is coming up, so I have no status. Booked The Key at 160 days out.
  8. I don't know about outside the U.S., but we just recently downgraded thru our travel agent and my purchases made on cruise planner stayed exactly the same.
  9. Great answers! I failed to mention the other reason I found The Key intriguing...I have older siblings at home with health problems as well as my fur baby that they will be caring for. Having the ability to contact/be contacted is a major advantage to this program. Now our biggest problem is the waiting time until we cruise. We have a Hawaii vacation in August, but I have spent more time researching the cruise and having difficulty getting my excitement back up for Hawaii. ?
  10. We will be on the Independence of the Seas. This is the kind of reassurance I need. One of the other reasons I wanted The Key was the chance to have a leisurely breakfast and then be escorted off. Our flight leaves at 1pm, so we are hoping to be among the last off ? since we won't have a lounge at the airport.
  11. I have looked a this website, I am looking for ways to use them. But thanks for responding.
  12. First of all, everyone here has done a fantastic job of getting so much info, out but being a newbie with 155 days to my 1st cruise, I am overwhelmed. I would bet my questions are already answered somewhere, but when I search I can't pick the right phrase that will give me what I am really searching instead of every time a word appears. So...I'm just going to ask now. 1. I see a lot of talk about the magnetic hooks. Right now I have just a glimpse of how to use them. Could some of you throw out here all the ways you use them? 2. The compass is overwhelming with the number of choices of activities and entertainment. Some have the from-to times listed, but for games like trivia (I am a trivia junkie) and name that tune and so on-how long do they typically last? 3. I am the half that has always refused to go on a cruise, preferring to fly to an island or coast and stay there (and there are so many horror stories about illness, engine problems, ships running into docks ?). We intentionally picked a 4 day cruise with only 1 stop so we can concentrate on all of the things the ship has to offer. So I am purchasing The Key to try to alleviate extra stress, mostly of embarkation and debarkation, carry on bags delivered to your room, and lunch at Chops that will avoid the madness in Windjammer. Are there any other advantages to The Key that help avoid stress? 4. I am actually on anxiety medicine, but I still have problems with some crowds, especially drunks and rude people. Anyone have tips on some quiet spots or techniques for avoiding these? I was excited about the adults only solarium until I saw some videos of the crowds there. Even though I have lost 65 lbs, I am still very self conscious about pools and hot tubs (which my husband adores!). 5. We aren't really hyped up to go ashore in Cozumel. Is my reasoning right that this would be the best time for pools and exploring things than a sea day with everyone on board? Advance thank you to all who offer information on this thread.
  13. This would be dropping down from Spacious Ocean View (although it looks to me like it should be called spacious helipad view). Since the booking included the price of that room (before taxes and fees) as a free gift from Marriott, I wouldn't think we would get credit for the difference in price but that is fine with us. Thanks for the info, twangster!
  14. Before I found this group and the wealth of information (and also You Tube vloggers) we reserved our first cruise on Independence of the Seas and our travel agent booked us into a room that was at the very back of the ship. After experiencing rooms at the other end of the world at WDW, I did a fake booking to see what else was available and called her back to change. To 9502. ? Now I know how stupid that decision was! I watched some videos of promenade rooms and found some available close to the stairs and elevators. My husband loves to get up before me and go get coffee (we have the deluxe beverage plan) and being able to saunter down one flight of stairs to Café Promenade would start his day off. Do you think they would let us change again? Hoping to get information before calling my TA.
  15. Christmas Market Cruise on the Danube River. I have always wanted to see Vienna, Prague, and Budapest and think cruise is the best way. Christmas Market cruise just for the weather and festivity of the season, not that I want to buy that much. Our first ever cruise is next Dec but just FLL to Cozumel and back, just to see how we like cruising. I have been told many times that once you cruise you're hooked for life.
  16. Food porn! I love it. I promise to add to it after my Dec 5 cruise (1st cruise).
  17. ...in the cruise planner? Should I check out now, and if the price drops can I still change it?
  18. We are on Independence of the Seas in Dec for our first cruise. When we dock in Port Everglades at the end of the cruise, do we have to disembark at the time given? Our flight doesn't leave until 1pm and I wasn't aware of the (lack of) lounges at FLL. Can we just join the last group off? Thanks to all on this site, I have learned a ton of info so far.
  19. Sorry, found the answer on another thread.
  20. Looking at Compass and a few short clips on YouTube, I have a question about Silent Disco? How many songs do they have? I like dancing but my husband isn't very nimble. I told him since it is silent no one will know what he is supposed to be doing, so he can just have fun with I (and humor me!). Any encouragement for him from those who have participated?
