I noticed this is an inside cabin.. You might not even have a Sofa in your cabin.. Not all inside cabins have a sofa. In that case your son really will have to sleep with your brother lol snoring and all.. I really suggest calling a travel agent and getting the issue fixed. But I totally understand if you don't want to. Just be prepared there might literally only be a chair in your room and no Sofa..

Yeah its a central park window view, I think from the plans it does have sofa but obviously not sleeper one

The problem with getting a travel agent is that when we booked the deal we got was buy one get one half off and 1 free voom per room so going to end up costing more and as dad payed I cant really ask him to do that!

Twin bed is a small bed, think what a kid would sleep in.  Next size up is a Double, which you can find in many hotels as sleeps two.  Up from that is a Queen, which offers more room for the two people, then the King which offers the most space.  In each cabin there are two twin beds, that push together to make almost a King.  If you have the two beds pushed together, your small 9 year old may be able to share the bed with you two.

Thanks, sorry from UK and twin to be sounds as if for 2 ha ha

Might have to do that, so apparently for all rooms I want beds pushed together I need to tell RC in advance?

This is the same link I posted in your other thread, look at the floor plan, if it has a triangle next to the room number it has a sleeper sofa, so 9595, 9597 and 9599 do not have a triangle.

If you look at 9593 it has the triangle as well as the arrow's designating connecting rooms.

The rooms come standard as 2 twin beds with a night stand in between, so they assume that 2 separate people will each sleep on their own bed, if you are a couple, Royal has to be told to join the same 2 beds together to make 1 big bed.

If you son is on the small side, you could tell the room steward to make the sofa up with bedding even though it is not a pull out sleeper, then you could have the 1 large bed to yourself.

Hope this helps, in the long run you could turn all of this over to a travel agent (Which is free) and tell them your needs and maybe they could still find 3 room together with sleeper sofa and maybe connecting rooms. A lot of us on here use MEI travel, they help sponsor this site so it can stay free.

Thankyou very helpful info, I didn't know these things

Unfortunately my parents/brother made the booking so hadn't looked into it myself

He is small 9 year old so will have to just sleep on the sofa part, he definitely wont want to be wanting to share with my brother who snores loudly and constantly ha ha

When they say twin bed is that not big enough for 2 ?

Shouldn't be a problem, just get a key-only SeaPass card made at Guest Services for your son after you get onboard.  He will still need his assigned SeaPass for any charges, but you can set that up at Guest Services or during check-in to use your credit card for the charges.  Your son will also need to go with your brother to the muster drill if you all aren't at the same muster station.

    Thankyou

He wont be making any charges his only 9 and to be honest I dont want to be paying for anything extra.  That said 1 person paid for all 3 rooms and 1 person will settle any charges so it doesn't really matter what room things are charged to.

We are in 3 rooms next to each other so Muster drill should hopefully be the same anyway

There is one problem people are forgetting.. Since you booked rooms for 2 there is no guarantee that your rooms have a pull out couch. So you son might be stuck with your brother because there is no other bed for him..

Oh ok, I thought they all had bed and sleeper sofa, anyway I can find out? We are on HOS room 9595

Even if only me and son would they automatically expect us to share bed?

  6. So we have 3 rooms booked for 6 of us, we booked with 2 people in each room as that worked out cheaper than a room of 2, room of 3 and a room of 1 as they were doing a BOGOHO special.  Me and Hubby want to be in a room with my son and then leave my brother (adult) in his own room, Is this going to be a problem once on board? Do i need to tell anyone when get onboard or just carry on as if 2 in each room?  Will it cause any problems?

On Oasis-class ships we had to pay, so we don't eat it anymore.  In 2017 it was $2.50, not sure what it is now.

Oh bummer! Won't be buying it, spending enough on the cruise will just go and get some other snacks from somewhere!

  8. Looking at booking the water park, how do you know what the best price is?  From the UK and currently shows as £44 each (so roughly $55), is that a good price? or should I wait?

I know people have mentioned half day pass before but cannot see that option, is that something they no longer sell?

If you are on the several ships that require reservations, there is also a line of people who wait for cancellations.  About 10 minutes before show time, the unused seats are released.  It's usually best to have reservations on the more popular shows, but even then you may want to arrive 30 minutes early to get a desired seat.  There are typically a couple of extra shows at the end of the cruise that don't require reservations, such as a short ice show, aqua show, or comedy show.  Most ships actually have nightly shows - late dinner seating goes early and early dinner seating goes late, but it is essentially first-come, first-served, no reservations.

    Thanks

So a reservation is not for an actual seat just a number of people coming.  There will be 6 of us so assume we will need to arrive early to get 6 seats together!

Have had a look through recent cruise compass and viewed the shows and times, wondered if they changed much or the ships tend to stick with the same plans for the same cruise?

Unless there has been a recent change, you only need to make reservations for shows on Quantum and Oasis class ships.

We were just on Allure last month (5/19/19 sailing) and were able to start booking the entertainment/shows 96 days prior to our sail date. It's not a set time that they will open it up, but I hear it's usually 60-90 days out. If you are sailing on a Quantum/Oasis class ship, I would just sign into your Cruise Planner regularly from this point on since you are about 4 months out.

    Have a great time!

    Thankyou

We are on Harmony of the Seas, is that an Oasis class ship?

Family members have booked it but done seem to be doing much planning so I am trying to research as much as possible.  I will have to get the log on details from them and have a look!

Can you post the source?  That is a requirement I've never heard and I'd be surprised if that were the case.

"The Key" requires everyone in a cabin to purchase it, but that is not associated with Perfect Day.

I have read so much stuff lately I cannot remember where, I hope I got it wrong as I really am not bothered about slides so would be happy to not bother!  I will try and find it again!

Knew I forgot to take photos of a station! From what I recall it was fruit, cookies, and brownies.

Personally, I'd rather head over to a Snack Shack for a funnel cake. Can also get the brownies with or without caramel sauce poured over at the Snack Shack as well.

OH MY are you telling me you can get Funnel Cake on the island free?  I know where im going to be all day!!

Read through @Matt‘s stuff on the blog. Honestly, just about any question you have  will be answered there. Heck it will probably also answer the questions you didn’t know you had too!

Sorry im new here how to I find what you are referring to? I have first cruise later this year and would love to read some tips!

  14. First RC cruise and we are visiting Cozumel, Costa Maya and Roatan, we haven't booked any shore excursions and I really would rather not to be honest, not only to save money but we don't want to be running to a schedule.

We really want to go snorkeling so is there anywhere on each of these stops that is within walking distance from the ship where you can go snorkeling on your own?  Somewhere with a decent bit of beach for the ones who just want to relax.  We just want to go for couple of hours and will then get back on the ship.

Also is there somewhere at CocoCay you can snorkel for free?

  15. Hi All,

First RC cruise coming up later this year, we selected early seating and I see a dinner time of 5.30pm listed online under our booking.  My question is what is the latest time I can enter for early dining? I assumed 5.30 was the start of the session although someone mentioned if you don't arrive for that time they will give your table away.  Can anyone clarify, thanks
