  1. No need to be worried. I just got the  email telling us they are pushing back the boarding time. They did this on the May 1st sailing too.

You’ll probably get it soon. I tried to copy/paste it but it didn’t work. They want everyone to arrive 1 hour after their scheduled check in time. If you have unvaccinated children (edited to remove chicken lol) with you they want you there by 2.

Can anyone give some insight on some options for hotels in for the Bayonne port?  Bonus if they are Hilton brands.  I am looking at the Double Tree in Jersey City as it seems to offer a great view of the NYC skyline, but wondering about location.  There is always the option of staying near the airport.  We plan to get in for a full day before the cruise to go over and see the 9/11 memorial and maybe a few other things around depending on time, so ease of getting to NY is also a bonus.

    Thanks!!!

It’s a clean and busy area. There is Newport Center Mall across the street. Shoprite supermarket a few minutes down the street along with Bed Bath and Beyond. Target is a few blocks away. Basically there are plenty of places to shop and and eat if you choose not to take the PATH train into NYC. If you want to take the train you can go through the mall. There is also a movie theater in the food court but it has bad reviews so I haven’t tried it. It’s a super easy 20 minute ride to the cruise port.

I have not stayed at the Doubletree but if the reviews are good for the hotel I would. The neighborhood is definitely acceptable.

  3. I don’t know if you’ve already left on your cruise. Last year I went to Ocean Park beach. I was told by several people that it was the nicest beach on the cruise port side of San Juan.

Last year the restaurant next door was closed so there was nowhere to rent chairs, eat, or use the bathroom but it looks like the restaurant has reopened under the name Numero Uno. There were maybe 2 vendors walking around selling cheap empanadas that they probably made in their house. One person in my party tried one since the other people there looked like locals and they all bought some. She said it was good but I’m not adventurous enough for that lol.

The sand was pretty clean. I think I only saw 2 bottle caps; no other garbage. There were maybe 30 other people there all spread out. It was super laid back and beautiful. The water was a bit rough though. We played close to the shore for hours getting knocked around by what I’m were actually small waves lol.

Since I’m not a big fan of sight seeing and I’ve already done a San Juan tour I would go back to that beach if I wanted a cheap day with nothing else to do. Next time I’d grab some food and drinks from CVS or Walgreens across from the port. I would also take something to sit on in case there wasn’t anyone renting out loungers. Take a ton of sunscreen too.

It was no more than 20 minutes from port and we had to talk a driver down to around $17 because that’s what Uber said and he really wanted the ride but initially quoted us more like $30.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
