  1. I don't get the connection, but Carnival is now sponsoring/partnering with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the Jubilee includes a huge star of Texas,i believe at her bow? Maybe Royal will don a Giant Jersey Tomato decal for ships ported in NJ someday ....
  2. As we would say ... GITCC! That's G-I-T-Double C Going in the Comment Card!
  3. That's my friend! Says the chick who thinks 7:45am is an ungodly hour on vacation..... Seriously, if you recall, i did send them post cruise feedback that the 8:30a SC session was a copout. Good to know my feedback was not taken seriously. I mean, why would it?! Anyway, Batman and I are both working Christmas Eve and Day, and so I'll be blowing off work where possible to read your blog, and i can't wait to meet Berty!
  4. my first thought was that Lyndsay and Reyd talked you into buying an RV for the trip home.
  5. Can you go to CK that night, and will they have a special dinner? The Haven restaurant has lobster tails every night and they always have something special for the holidays, like they added carved turkey on Thanksgiving, etc. Curious how CK handles it. Sorry for the hijack; I'm honestly shocked at the way Royal handles this.
  6. This is leaving a sour taste, and it doesn't even affect me. I thought NCL had the lead in nickel & diming, but this is a gross and blatant $$ grab. We've not done a Christmas cruise, but have done Thanksgiving and NYE, and there is nothing like this on NCL. C'mon Royal. Holiday cruises are at an extreme premium to begin with. Upcharging an existing upcharge to eat a celebratory meal on the actual holiday is predatory.
  7. I'm still wrapping my head around the upcharge for a holiday meal. Is this specific to Christmas & NYE? What about Thanksgiving?
  8. On, i don't know how i missed this, but I'm here for the shenanigans, even though there doesn't seem as much as last time! So many bloggers here cruise way too much! I feel like the lot of you cruise 3x the amount we cruise one! Though Mariner gives me PTSD. HATE, hate, hate that ship, though I'm still looking looking forward to your take! xx
  9. We probably need to merge Lyndsay and Batman for a nice, happy vacation medium. I'm getting the feeling he's a go, go, go? If I'm reading that wrong, ignore the short blonde behind the curtain and discontinue reading! Batman's favorite saying is "i don't NEED to..." He never "needs" to do anything. I have to say, " i know you don't 'need' to, but I'd like to. Can you please come with me?" And that's how i won an 11-night Odyssey cruise in his last favorite stateroom (on HIS birthday, no less). That, and Genie Leticia helped after the fact.
  10. Just catching up! Your itinerary sounds ambitious (and exhausting to this chick). How did the spray tan work out? I'm with you ... the smells are horrible and i never did get the hang of ankles, knees, and elbows. I did better when i exfoliated first, but just better, not great. We wound up getting a tanning bed with a timer for our basement... i know, it seemed like a good idea at the time ... my favorite cousin calls it the Shake n Bake. Anyway, i think i will have to include #underpantsgate for Batman's eulogy some day. He will never live that down here. At least the glorious part is that he's comfortably Clueless ! However, Lindsey's 'turn them inside out' method is also .
  11. Glad you are home safe and sound, but that's so sad about the AAA calls and casualties.
  12. My day is just starting (don't act all surprised!), but i 'd @Neesa keeping track of your location and all your play-by-play updates @asquared17! That doesn't sound like a great way to end your vacation. I sorta feel that all that stress may have wiped away the fun of the week! Regardless, I'm glad you're at the airport, waiting comfortably in the United lounge. Don't be so rushed to get home to us. Weather sux here too! P.S. Did we skip over the man overboard? I missed that! Also, FLL/Port Everglades looks to have been much better. SIL disembarked there this morning. She also lives in FLL and her laundry was done by 10am. P.S.S. Have you learned nothing about flying in winter, child? February?! You will never be able to explain that to me vs. Symphony in May/ June where you can easily drive. But also, I'm with you and @OCSC Mike Batman and i are looking at a B2B when Norwegian Aqua makes her way to NYC. And she is only doing Bermuda. So yeah, 5 nights to Bermuda, followed by 7 nights to Bermuda. Makes perfect sense.
  13. Nice, sounds about what Norwegian offered. We also got a 25% FCC, but our experience was a little more harrowing Like i said, my SIL's cruise ends tmw also. They're disembarking in Port Everglades and they are on time. Sounds like your delay is primarily due to the medical evac.
  14. Hey, just adding my experience on severe weather delays. We were on NCL and went through a bomb cyclone. Actually made national news. We didn't wind up disembarking until 5pm or so. It was glorious, but then again, we were drinking. I mean we were driven to the port (i think it's a given we were drinking). Anyway, they opened a special line at guest services for those without an internet package to rebook flights and sort travel arrangements. All purchased packages remained valid, and even though we were back in NYC waters, we were never charged our customary NYC tax on them. All restaurants remained open, through late lunch. What you need to watch out for are all the frantic passengers who are going to be hellbent on making their flights. Prepare for pushing, shoving, and arguments. We were fortunate that we had priority disembarkation, but that only got us so far. I was prepared for this, however, with unopened bottles of water that i hand carried and offered to frazzled parents. I'm with @Neesa. Relax and book yourself a room close to the airport and rebook your flight. I anticipate chaos, and it will be nice not to be part of that. And, yes, the concierge team are your friends here. Hopefully they can be helpful and offer sage advice! Keep us posted!
  15. My SIL is texting me from her cruise. She's on Holland America and they had to cancel their stop at Half Moon Cay due to weather today (of course that's a tender port which doesn't help). She says they're having a very bumpy sea day. And it looks like both my SIL and @asquared17 will be coming into some crummy FL weather tomorrow, boo. However, i would still like to remind our beloved little @asquared17 that May/June out of her homeport of Bayonne is still smoother
  16. Oh i missed the vid! That's the Vueve, right? All hail the Vueve!!! Yum!!!
  17. I you for remembering that! In our defense, our dinner time is just about your bedtime.
  18. Good call to stay on the ship! We don't like Falmouth. Enjoy what looks to be the start of a sunny day!
  19. Anything other than peppers or tomatoes and I'm out Squash or carrots
  20. I've yet to try the truffle pasta ... are those carrots nestled in there?
  21. Haha, by my estimation, should we sail together one day, we'll see each other from about 1pm to 4pn, when we're out and about and you leave to get ready for dinner. I've been waiting for you and J to pop into the pub to see if our buddy Jackson is there. But i forgot whose blog i was following! And nice pawning off the duck hiding! I suckered 3 kids in the Haven into hiding the 7 ducks that i found on my closet floor that didn't make their way to @Neesa . Enjoying your MDR reviews.
