  1. Enjoy your cruise! I'll be boarding the Mariner Feb 4th!
  2. It always seems that people accept a man sitting at (a bar, a restaurant) by himself, but women get judged a bit harsher (especially at bars - at restaurants we're just lonely). At least this has been my observation over the years. I'm still gonna do it, though, lol.
  3. Does that work for a table for one as well? I'll be cruising solo. *** disregard - I found the answer already ***
  4. Thank you, twangster - you are a wealth of information!
  5. Another question about this - the cost is whatever it is per day. Does that include disembarkation day? I recall from previous cruises being off the ship pretty damned early, so it really doesn't make sense if you pay $50 (or whatever) for the last day.
  6. I got it and have used it for all Royal Caribbean purchases. I think it's completely worth it. Plus (not that this is that important, but...) it's pretty. :)
  7. I'm not sure I ever stayed awake long enough to know there was a midnight buffet back then, LOL! I don't think we'll be too surprised (what with all of the great Vlogs available from different folks, I feel pretty prepared), but it sure is nice to have this group available to answer some of those weird questions!
  8. See how behind I am on cruising!! Shameful! Thank you - it helps us make our beverage package decision much easier! I appreciate the quick response.
  9. On previous cruises we've purchased alcohol (bottle of whiskey or what have you) in the duty-free shop and were able to open it in the room for just drinking privately. But we haven't cruised on Royal since 2004. Is this still something they let you do? If so, I assume there's a corkage fee?
  10. Hello! We're from the south suburbs of the Twin Cities (that's Minnesota, dontchyaknow) - We've sailed on Royal Caribbean twice - first one was to Alaska on the Vision in September of 2000, the next one was on the Jewel in Sept 2004 (10 night Canada/New England - I'd take that itinerary in a heartbeat again - round trip from Boston to Quebec - spent 2 days in Quebec and it was fabulous!). We've also sailed once on Princess to Alaska (sometime near 2009) but were not as impressed with the experience as we were with Royal. We're booked on the June 21st sailing to Alaska on the Ovation of the Seas, where we'll be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary as well as my husband's 50th birthday! We can't wait, and we're so glad we found this site - so much great information and very helpful, nice people.
  11. We're so happy that Ovation has a plug in/shelf next to the bed. Hopefully they will make this standard in all new ships and refurbishments.
  12. Cruise planner is currently quoting me $50/per day for a 7 day Ovation of the Seas June 2019.
