  1. Here's another view. I'm sure I'll be annoyed by that davit every time I see it
  2. With deck plans and exterior shots I figured out where 6652 is located. Looks like there is a large davit directly in front of the balcony. I'm now leaning towards giving up the studio room and getting the OV room
  3. Thanks, @JLMoran The OV room costs $200 more than the Studio Balcony, but I might still go ahead with it for the extra points. I'm sure there will be a lot of other areas on the ship that will provide good views of Alaska. I edited my original post to clear up the confusion on the price difference.
  4. I always travel solo. By my estimate, I will just need three to four 7-Night cruises to get to Diamond. That's why I'm considering the additional points. My Stateroom, 6652, is being reported by some sites as having an obstructed view. I called RCL about this and they told me that the obstruction doesn't get past the height of the balcony. I hope someone on this forum knows exactly how the room looks like. That'll make the decision making easier.
  5. I've made a reservation for a 7-night Alaskan cruise on the Ovation of the Seas for August 30, 2019. Right now I'm booked for a Studio Balcony Stateroom. The Ocean View room costs $200 more than the Studio Balcony. Which would be better, the balcony or the 7 additional points I get for paying the supplement? This will be my first Alaskan cruise.
  6. How many times have you refreshed your browser already? ha ha
  7. T - 00:05:00 Who else is waiting for the RCL site to go back online?
  8. Thanks, @firebuck . It worked.
  9. The one I was trying to upload as my Profile Pic was only 41 KB
  10. I've been trying to upload this picture as my Profile Pic. An error message always shows up. I wonder why?
  11. Thanks for the info. Yes, it was Moe. Ricky Matthews must have been on break when I sailed. He did not make an appearance at all. I thought all the while that Moe was the CD. He pretty much did everything that Bobby Brown did on the Harmony when I was on it.
  12. The Cruise Director on the Majesty last November (2017) was a guy with a very long foreign name. IIRC, he was of Polynesian descent. Does anyone here know/remember him? I'm trying to recall who he was. I also forgot the short version of his name.
  13. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes... Are there any guidelines for Live Blogs in this Forum?
  14. I believe He did "direct my paths" that day, my bad driving habits notwithstanding.
  15. I clear my browser's history and cache every time I check. LOL
  16. Does checking for prices at least three times a day count as an obsession? Is there a "Cruisers Anonymous"? Please sign me up... "Hi, I'm PG. I'm a Cruisaholic"
  17. I admit that it added some sense of thrill to the cruise experience. I did not want to miss the church service and I kept on telling myself that if I missed the boat I was willing to bear the consequences. Here are some more details: I parked my van by the church's side exit facing outwards so I can drive off as soon as the final "Amen" was said. Funny thing is that on my way out, somebody asked me to join them for prayer. I had an energy bar for lunch in the van. Disney announces the names of people coming on board so being one of the last ones to board, I can see all those people with puzzled looks at this guy in church attire. They must have been thinking, "Formal Night comes early on this cruise". LOL
  18. Hi All! How do you watch prices for cruises? Some companies like Amazon have apps that notify me of price changes for products I'm interested in. How about cruise prices... is there a app for that?
  19. When I sailed on the Disney Magic, I was probably one of the last to board. I came from a church service in Jacksonville that ended at 12:30PM. I made it to Canaveral just a little bit before the boarding ended. But the departure time was at 5:00PM. RCL ships leave at 4PM so with the average drive time from Jacksonville, I’ll arrive at Canaveral about 45 minutes before sail off. I don’t think they’ll let me board. What do you think?
  20. What is the latest (actual) time that one is allowed to board on a ship that's leaving at 4PM? Do they strictly impose the 90 minute rule?
  21. I will be on this itinerary in November. I'll be traveling solo so I should have some time to chat with you on this thread about the ports and the onboard experience as well. I'm still researching on the ports myself.
