  1. No they are not but are staying in our cabin. However we were allowed to take our grandson on Explorer into the D club in 2017 so I was surprised.
  2. I will make occasional comments when I have something interesting to add. First- check in was a snap. They did ask for and copy the notarized letters from parents giving us permission to be responsible for them. CABIN 9200 is perfect! LOTS of room and the nook for the bunkbeds is a hit with the teens. They decided to split up the time half and half so each one can have the privacy. Slight disappointment in that they (both 16 years old )were not allowed in Diamond club last night. Concierge said maybe tonight if it’s not crowded. Also not allowed on bridge tour but can go on galley tour and theater tour. Finally no priority seating for ice show. Guess we’ll be standing in line hoping to get in. Last time we got tickets but now it’s first come first serve.
  3. I am not understanding the response above. For texting or email or iMessage, you must purchase the wifi-internet from Royal +Voom if you want to stream As far as I know there’s no free Wifi other than to use the Royal app. Harmony does support the wifi app. A couple of ships have messaging through the app but I don’t know which ones.
  4. @twangster We've been priced out of Chops with the price increase. The last time we went on the Jewel in November, the steak was marginal at best. We told the waiter the quality of the meat was not as good as it used to be and our meal was refunded.
  5. SUNSCREEN on a southern Caribbean cruise! The shops were not open when we left for our all day Catamaran excursion so I came home lobster red! I haven't done that since.
  6. In Rome especially, be careful when walking. The cobbled streets are uneven and the traffic is horrendous.Wear very good walking shoes. Drivers do not follow any traffic rules! They stop when and if they want to. Take the colosseum at night tour if you are there overnight. It is not crowded and beautiful. Eat plenty of pasta and pizza. Drink a lot of wine-it's very reasonable and delicious everywhere. Barcelona was super crowded in November. Take the Gaudi and the Picasso tour. It is worth it. We did both in pouring down rain. Skip Monoco. It's a beautiful jewel for the ultra rich but very crowded and the streets are narrow. I wouldn't go back. Most Mediterranean cruises are very port intensive. Take a rest day and just walk around the port, sit at a cafe and drink the local beverage.
  7. @Lovetocruise2002 Your pictures are similar to the set up the Next Cruise rep showed us onboard. But when I booked the cabin later, I got the one @jticarruthers described. Maybe it is the difference in the floor. Thank you both for your input.
  8. @jticarruthers What about storage? Is there ample storage, closet space? The teenagers usually live out of a suitcase but I will want them to put everything away.
  9. @Michael Vitale It's a family room- about 335 sq feet
  10. We are leaving Sunday on Liberty in an "ultra spacious ocean view" cabin. It has 2 twin beds, a sofa bed and some sort of built in separate bunk beds. I can't really tell from the pictures exactly the configuration of the room. We are taking two teenage grandchildren (cousins boy and girl 16 years old) and am trying to picture the space in the room. Has anyone been in a comparable cabin on the Liberty? (9200) We have bid on a Royal up for a suite but doesn't look like we will get it.
  11. Don't drink anything with ice unless the restaurant says the water is filtered. Unfortunately some of the little roadside cute cafes do not use filtered water or ice. I have been on the Fury Catamaran twice and felt comfortable drinking whatever was offered. However, you can't always avoid the Montezuma's Revenge. Once I ate exclusively at the Acapulco Princess Hotel (very upscale at the time) and got sick as a dog after eating tacos. I guess the lettuce was not washed properly or in regular water. It happens! Take probiotics before and during your trip to avoid stomach issues.
  12. Agree with the wind issue. My friend's hearing aid blew out of his ear! Not as romantic as an engagement ring but just about as expensive!
  13. @mom2mybugs Actually no! We took a 12 day last fall and were pleasantly surprised that the menu was different every night. Maybe it depends on the ship.
  14. It’s possible if it was stolen that they just wanted cash and your ID knowing you would cancel cards. My purse was stolen twice and both times that’s what they wanted.
  15. I hate to be Debby Downer, but what is the chance it was pickpocketed? Assuming you checked the last place you remember using it, I am afraid that might have happened. I am sure that's a helpless feeling. I had my purse stolen when I was on a trip. It happens.? BTW it might be a hassle but ask the airport to check security cameras in the checkpoints and shops you visited. They are everywhere.
  16. " Please locate the blue pole banners along the fence lines that read "Port of Galveston/Cruise Parking" to indicate the Port's Official Cruise Parking Lots. This includes levels 2, 3, and 4 of the multi-leveled garage located at 150th known also known as the Transit Terminal." "Pedestrian traffic is not recommended outside of the Port of Galveston fence line unless you have parked in our multi-leveled garage located at 150 25th street (directly across from Terminal One). You would walk to and from the terminal if you park in the garage." We have the Port of Galveston official cruise parking at 150 25th Street.
  17. Regular port parking innthe open lots have shuttles but the parking garage does not. You are told it is across the street and you will need to walk. I am just wondering if I should get rid of luggage or is it doable with rolling bags.
  18. We are on Liberty next Sunday and have reserved space in the parking garage. Is it really “across the street “ as advertised or is there a walk? Should we drop off our luggage before parking?
  19. @CrusingWithMatt So glad to see you are well enough to hike! Looks like a beautiful port!
  20. We were just in Barcelona and Rome in November in November so you would think I would remember; but not so much. It seems the compass tells you what to take off and what you need to get back on the ship.@SuZQ329 If we are not required to take the passport we take a copy and leave the original in the safe. If you are on a Mediterranean cruise that stops in several countries, some ports may require the passport. I carried an RFID cross body bag and my husband (nickname "the mule") carried an RFID fanny pack. Re pickpockets in Barcelona and Rome: I personally know two different persons who were pickpocketed -one in each city. So it is very prevalent there and the streets and tourist areas are very very crowded so it is easy to do.
  21. Thanks to all! We usually haven't found too many benefits for booking on NextCruise but a decreased deposit and maybe some OBC would be nice since the deposits have gotten so incredibly high. Remember when you could book a cruise for $50 pp? It wasn't too long ago! And it was refundable.
  22. If I book onboard, I believe I can get whatever benefits they offer and also have it transferred to my TA. CORRECT?
  23. Cindy is correct (no cokes)AND the gift shops are only open when the ship is sailing and not open all night. So if you need the Pepcid at 1:42 am or 1:42 pm and you are in Cozumel you are out of luck. The “shop” is usually very small , a corner in another shop, and choices are limited. So I now take a Walgreens in my bag! ??
  24. Yes, diamond is a loyalty point level.
