  1. According to Wells Fargo analyst Tim Conder, the Oasis order fits into the context of Royal Caribbean's stated long-term 4% annual growth goal and 'further strengthens RCL's innovative leadership positioning in the industry.'

Conder thinks that over the next 12 to 18 months, the company could announce the deployment of an Oasis-class ship to Asia, at least for part of the year.

A lot is riding on how Quantum does in Asia.  RC is betting the Chinese cruise market will be quick to adopt.  We shall see if that is really the case when Quantum arrives.

  2. Matt, does the Bonine make you sleepy? I have the Sea Bandz (sp) because I rather not take "medicine" and I don't want to feel sleepy either. But last time I really have to use the Bandz ...well actually I was on a few meds since I got really sick and was taking to the Medic. "Not fun"!!... This time around, I am bringing everythignI can think off.

Yes, it will make you drowsy after a few hours.  Not fall down in the middle of the hallway sleepy, but "I really need a nap" drowsy.  But I'd rather be sleepy than nauseous

  3. If you're a frequent Royal Caribbean cruiser, then there is no doubt that a dish you loved is probably no longer on the menu. For me, it was the Blue Cheese Tortellini. Served in the MDR, I had this on Liberty in 2008 and Freedom in 2010. Rich and full of flavor, cheese tortellini topped with a cream sauce and crumbled, melted blue cheese.

  5. The drink package is something that in my opinion requires a lot of drinking to really break even.  If the prospect of drinking 6-8 drinks per day sounds okay to you, then do it.  Otherwise, you are probably better off saving your money and buying your drinks a la carte.

Don't forget port days, where when you are off the ship most of the day you lose time to drink back onboard.

  6. So how does an upgrade works? ....it doesn't make sence. If you booked with a promotion (kids sail free) you can't upgrade unless you opt out of the promo??

I'd have to refer to the terms of the deal to know with absolute certainty.  Remember, if you're before final payment, you can always cancel and then immediately re-book too.  Granted, doing so would forfeit your original booking incentives but if the deal is better now, that may be worth it.

  7. You can adjust your price up until final payment.  To do so, call RC or your travel agent and have them re-price it for you.

If it's after final payment, you cannot adjust the price UNLESS the price of the next category up from you drops below what you paid, in which case your price will match that rate.  Once again, you will need to contact RC or your TA to make the adjustment.

  8. Matt I know you live in the New York area so this might be hard for you but last August I saw the prices for Oasis and Allure dramatically drop for September so I quickly booked a cruise on Allure. The rates were really good. I got a balcony room for 699 per person plus taxes and fees but I am also a diamond member so I got to use my balcony discount for $200.00 off. My point is in Late July/early August you should see if the pricing for Allure in September will be cheap again because I have a feeling you can get a really great deal again around that time and flights might not be too bad if you book 30-40 days in advance.

September and October are always inexpensive times to cruise because it's hurricane season.  $699 per person on Oasis class is a steal!  Hope I can manage to take advantage of a deal like that this year
