mhettrich44 Posted October 20, 2023 Report Share Posted October 20, 2023 Hi all. Leaving this Sunday October 22 from Barcelona for a Western Mediterranean cruise on Royal. Was curious what I should expect from the sea this time of year? Is it generally calm, or should we expect some rougher weather? instaGator Posted October 20, 2023 Report Share Posted October 20, 2023 In general the waves and swells in the Mediterranean are relatively mild due to the narrow opening at the Strait of Gibraltar. Here is a forecast map that provides a general estimate of predicted seas: https://www.surf-forecast.com/weather_maps/North-Atlantic?type=htsgw&&over=none&&hr=6 As you can see by advancing the forecast period, a few days next week are higher than typical.
