Review: Beach Loungers on CocoCay

So we paid extra for the Beach Loungers on CocoCay.. I had read a blog post about free water, fruit plate and free beach mat.. none of that was included (and we were not expecting it).  I thought there was a new tram available but we got the old smelly and noisy tractor ride to the lounger area. Not terrible as it was only 3-4 minutes.  We are happy we got there early because after the first two rows, you are pretty much looking at the back of the other loungers. We were lucky to get one on the 2nd row and had a view of the sea.

It is an nice area, clear blue sea, great view and overall the lounger was nice if you like shade. At midday, the sun creeps in up to your knees. 

The biggest issue with the loungers, and why we will not purchase them again, was the location of the floating bar. By lunch time, there were well over 50 young adults on and around it, either drunk or on their way to being so, and so very noisy. It was just like being at some college spring break location. There was no peace and quite, they spilled out into the water around the bar and continued their mass party.  We got up and left just after 1pm since it was only getting worse. Half the loungers which were in use soon after we arrived were empty by the time we left.

Maybe it was just this particular cruise since it was a holiday weekend.  On the tender back to the ship, many of these 'adults' started chanting USA, USA etc and shouting 'Merica!! (all the way back to the ship) .. many wearing their US Flag beach wear.. One lovely person even screamed 'Memorial day baby!!'  .. it was embarrassing. 

If the loungers came with something, like a beach mat, or water.. then I could see the value for $45, but we decided afterwards that if you are arriving there early (to get one of the front rows), then you could just get one of the normal beach beds under a tree.

Regardless, we had an amazing day at Cococay. Went out on the wave runners and had a blast.

Thanks for sharing the review. Sorry to hear that some of the amenities that were included in the past are no longer part of the offering.

Those amenities were discontinued shortly after that review was posted, unfortunately. Used to be a much better deal - and located further down in the South Beach area where it's a little quieter and further away from the floating bar.
