James Thomas
I would like to thank anyone in advance for some background as to why Diamonds and up are so upset due to not having access to the Suite Lounge (aka Concierge Lounge). Isn't the Diamond Lounge the same as the Suite Lounge? Thank you.
twangster
Diamond Plus change. No impact to Diamond members. No impact to Diamond Lounges. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2022/12/12/royal-caribbean-removes-concierge-lounge-access-diamond-plus-members First of all D+ have never had access to the Suite Lounge. What's in a name? A lot if you are D+. A Suite Lounge is NOT an a.k.a Concierge Lounge or vice versa. It may seem like they are the same and for any suite guest they are. But not so if you are D+. While D+ had access (on paper) to Concierge Lounges they have never had access to Suite Lounges. Royal began introducing Suite Lounges because a former CEO once effectively stated "Diamond Plus will never be banned from the Concierge Lounge". So when it's time to ban D+ from the lounge how do you do that if a CEO once promised it would ever happen? You close the space called "Concierge Lounge" and open a different space called "Suite Lounge". It wasn't just renaming them, it was a new space in a different part of the ship. Royal went very far out of their way not to make the Suite lounge just an a.k.a Concierge Lounge so that they could ban D+ from them. At some point enough times passes and you can throw the old CEO under the bus. We just reached that point.
