  1. Hello. We are getting ready to go on our first 7 day cruise. Odyssey in January. We haven't purchased a drink package yet, because DARN you really do get nickel and dimed to death! We have been going back and forth about which to choose. I wanted to ask for the classic soda package, can you get water out of the free style machines? And does this only include soda at the machines, or does it also entitle you to a soda from a bar or restaurant? In addition what are the "free beverages" that are already included? I heard iced tea and fruit punch, but I'm not certain. Also as far as carrying wine on, I know we get 2 bottles per state room. Can they be in the checked bag? Because we are flying in just before and obviously can't have them in carry on for the plane, will I need to get them out of my packed bags and put them in carry on? Please let me know, thank you in advance everyone
  2. So, I’m agonizing over the decision to keep our soda packages, coffee card and package of water or maybe go for the refreshment package for my son and I. I’m a single Mom with not much and I’m afraid to “take the plunge “ and spend the extra $100. Please, I need constructive practical advice to help me choose. I say constructive because I’ve been made to look like an idiot on other forums. Be kind.
  3. So excited about our June 2019 cruise on Allure! Being a newbie, I'm asking for any advice or tips I should know. I'm traveling with my 12 year old son.The itinerary is 7 day Eastern Caribbean, stopping at St. Kitts,BVI, St. Thomas, USVI and Nassau, Bahamas. I am a research junkie, but nothing beats advice from a seasoned cruise community! So many questions....

  5. This will be my third cruise, first with RC. I'm traveling with my extended family. My 5yo son and I are sharing a room. Can someone explain to me how the drink packages work? Can my son and I share one? Is room service included in the price? I'm just really confused by how this drink package works and the more I try to understand the more confused I get. I thought food and drinks are included EXCEPT for alcohol and "specialty" restaurants and cafes. I'd rather spend my money at port and on excursions than food and drink on board. Where do I find information on "kids club" hours and cost and information on fitness club hours, cost, classes. The website has a lot of information but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Also, what happened to the RC app? Is there one to replace it? ~Thanks!!
  6. Good Morning all, I have seen several posts that contradict each other on gratuities and the Drink packages.\ Some state that the gratuities are included, some state not. The terms and conditions stated on my Beverage offer is: (I actually read this stuff)(And yes, I tried to get the answer before asking) Online Beverages reservations for your sailing will be available up until 22-Mar-2017 11:59 PM EDT. As of 0617 Central time on the 31st of January, 2017, what is the policy? Do I pay 18% on top of each drink or not? Thanks, Russ
  7. Earlier this year, I posted a Drink Package Decision Tree based on a post by DisneyBartenderScott. The original thread can be seen here: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php/topic/1469-royal-caribbean-drink-package-decision-tree/?hl=%2Bdecision+%2Btree In trying to update the decision tree with the various sales going on and the streamlining of the drink package, I found that doing so was nearly impossible. So instead, I came up with a 10-item quiz to help you decide if you should consider purchasing the drink package. If you score above a 5, you should contemplate purchasing the drink package. If you score a 7 or higher, the drink package seems to be a slam dunk in my opinion. Also, feel free to suggest revisions and/or new items. For example, I would suspect Matt would suggest something about distributing the costs. Update: A self-scoring version of the test can be taken here: https://testmoz.com/922297 Deluxe Drink Package Decision Test Answer TRUE or FALSE for the following items: 1. I like to have more than just a glass or two of wine with dinner each night. 2. I like to drink specialty coffees and/or bottled water each day. 3. I will be dining in multiple specialty restaurants during my cruise. 4. I drink four or more alcoholic drinks per day. 5. I am not a Diamond, Diamond Plus, Pinnacle member of the Crown and Anchor Society. 6. I have a lot of sea days during my cruise. 7. I plan to arrive as early as possible on embarkation day. 8. My itinerary includes Coco Cay or Labadee. 9. I enjoy starting my day with a morning cocktail (e.g., mimosa or Blood Mary). 10. I can take advantage of a discount by prepurchasing the drink package before my cruise. Scoring Instructions: Add up the number of TRUE answers. If you answered TRUE for 5 or more, consider buying the drink package. If you answered TRUE to 7 or more items, the drink package is likely your best option. Important considerations: Item #1: If you answered FALSE but enjoy a glass of wine or two with dinner, consider bringing on two bottles of wine with you. Royal Caribbean allows two bottles of wine to be brought on per cabin and does not charge a corkage fee. Item #4: If you answered FALSE but still like specialty coffees, frozen drinks without alcohol, etc., consider the Refreshment package. Item #7: If you are boarding late, then purchasing the package after Day 1 to save a little money.
