  1. Yep, totally agree. The only time that paying for a cruise in full has been an issue was when (on a different sailing), we bought "Air2Sea" and couldn't do flight seat assignments until the trip was paid for in full. In this case, we were hoping we could do the online check-in when we got to 45 days out.
  2. Yes, the Royal App does not even have a check-in date.
  3. Neh, We have an assigned stateroom (ocean view on deck 4) . I just erased it from the screenshot for security reasons.
  4. First, I'm not sure if I should have added to my existing thread or start (this) new one but my question is now a little different. As you can see from the screenshot below, we are now 45 days from our 11-night Vision OTS Jan 24 2022 sailing. I was under the impression that online check-in would be available by now (it's not). This sailing is supposed to Vision's first sailing (since the restart) and I sure hope it's not cancelled. (We were supposed to the same sailing last year but did "lift & shift" when that one was cancelled). Thoughts?
  5. Our cruise on Vision is her first (Jan 24) during the restart.
  6. Here's what our app looks like (doesn't have the check-in date):
  7. Strange, in our app, we don't see that "Check in" box. So, we were just going to check in using a web browser on a computer.
  8. Hi Everyone, I've read that in most cases, online check-in is available 45 days before your cruise. Our next cruise is on Jan 24 2022 so tomorrow (Dec 10), it will be 45 days out. My question is what time does RC usually make online check-in available? Midnight (EST)? Later in the morning? We'd like to jump on online checkin ASAP so that we get as early a boarding time as possible. Thanks!
  9. Thanks! I've not heard of "Hot Rocks". What is that?
  10. If we are not sushi eaters, what other options are there in Izumi on Vision OTS? Is it large enough for an hibachi grill? Thanks!
  11. I agree! We are going on 11-night Vision OTS cruise Jan 24. We already bought (during Black Friday week) both a 2-dev Voom and a 1-dev Voom knowing we'd cancel one of them. The difference between the two of them is $126.50. However, If we drop the 1-dev and then bought the chatting feature for both of us it would cost 43.78 (2 x 1.99 x 11). Then, the savings would only be $82.72 (again, for 11 nights). I don't think it's worth it. Unless RC stops charging for texting on their app, we'll keep the 2-dev Voom.
  12. Hi Everyone, The majro reason my wife and I like 2-device internet is the ability to text between us. (e.g. one is at the pool and one is the room or one of us in the theatre while one is not, etc..). Does the Royal App allow for this? BTW, we are going on 11-night Vision cruise out of Ft Lauderdale January 24 (only 48 days!). Thanks everyone!
  13. Not too often you see "chutzpah" and "crab cake" in the same sentence! lol
  14. I agree with all the comments about being initially safe on ships since everyone is vaxed and tested. Is there a concern with guests who get off at ports, exposed to the virus and then coming back on the ships?
  15. @CruisingOz - When will you be visiting Panama on the Grandeur? We are on Vision and are scheduled there on Jan 27 2022. I'd love to hear what you thought of that excursion.
  16. We are taking Vision OTS 11-night (Southern Caribbean) departing Ft Lauderdale Jan 24 2022. Day 5 is a stop in Colon, Panama (6a-5p) and we'd love to see the canal. There is one RC excursion (" WONDERS OF ENGINEERING: PANAMA CANAL LOCKS AND CULEBRA CUT CRUISE") that includes a ferry ride through the canal but it currently costs $160 pp! Here's the link to it: Does anyone have a recommendation of a similar excursion that "won't break the bank"? Thanks, ..Dave
  17. We are booked on Vision OTS 11-nights departing Ft Lauderdale 1/24/22 to Southern Caribbean. I just bought the 3-night dining package (currently $89 pp) but don't want to miss the MDR on the dress-up nights (which tend to have nicer menus those nights). So, does anyone have any idea of which nights in the MDR will be the dress-up nights? (notice I didn't say "formal" since that's history). Thanks!
  18. We are booked on an 11-night cruise on Vision OTS departs Jan 24 2022. I'm considering getting the 3-night dining package (currently $89 pp). The only specialty restaurants on Vision are Chops, Giovannis and Izumi. We aren't sushi eaters so we'd probably do Chops twice and Giovannis once. We'd hate to miss a good night in the MDR (i.e. tender loin, lobster etc) so would we be able to find out when the MDR is not so great ahead of time and book Chops or Giovannis that night? Thanks!
  19. We have 3 cruises booked in 2022 (Vision 1/24, Rhapsody 6/27 and Liberty 10/9). The all show up on the home page of the RC App (on my iPhone) but when I tap on any of them I get a message "We're working on the fun...". I know some people can access more information such as the check-in date. Am I doing something wrong?
  20. I'm sure questions like this have been asked, but in any event... We're on Vision OTS, departing 1/24/22 (Ft Lauderdale) on an 11-night Southern Caribbean cruise. Anyone have a guess on when we can check-in? Thanks!
  21. IMO The Key is less appealing than it used to be. We bought it for a cruise when it was first made available because we felt the difference between the Key and 2-device Voom (I only travel with my wife) was not much and the embarkation lunch in Chops and the sit-down breakfast on debarkation day was worth it. I've never used room service and usually don't book morning flights on debarkation day so I just don't see the value any more. The other perks that are included with The Key are also not a big deal to us. So the bottom line is The Key is only worth it if there isn't much price difference between it and 2-device Voom. Otherwise, I'd pass.
  22. We used a TA! (but I'm not happy with them which is why we're switching to MEI for future cruises)
  23. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if this seems reasonable. We were originally booked to go on Liberty OTS out of Galveston 9/26/21 and it was paid-in-full. When RCL canceled that cruise we did a "Lift & Shift" to the same cruise (7 nights with stops in Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel) to 10/9/22. Now, we owe an additional $151.34 (we have a promenade view interior room). When I asked the TA (affiliated with cruise.com), he explained that RCL made an error and instead of refunding us the taxes/fees from the original cruise it was applied to the cruise next year and that the invoice balance was due to increased taxes and fees. Does this make any sense?
  24. This has been discussed at length and Matt has made it clear that he's not a fan of the "Key". That being said, I find the Key worthwhile only if you were intending to purchase 2-device Voom without it. And even at that, you need to look at the difference (remember, you have to purchase it for both adults in the room) between the Key and 2-device Voom. There will always be a difference and that is the cost of the other perks (early boarding, nice first-day lunch, nice last-day breakfast, priority seating for shows,...). That being said, during Covid with empty ships (and enforced boarding times), it may not be available (if it is now, it will be cancelled) and probably not worth it.
