  1. Has anyone ever experienced weather-related delays in New Orleans? I'm asking because I read about the recent issues in Miami and know that Galveston sometimes has fog. I'm asking beause we are crusing out of New Orleans in November and I booked a 1PM flight out of there on disembarkation day. Thanks!
  2. Just booked this one. We've never been on Brilliance but we were on Radiance in Alaska. It will be interesting to see the differences. I do remember on Radiance the Windjammer was a bit small so I hope that is not an issue on Brilliance. We also have never cruised out of NOLA so we're looking forward to sailing down the Mississippi for sailaway.
  3. That is nice! I'm taking Odyssey on March 16 and I got Hideaway beach for $28.99 pp (plus 10% tax)
  4. Wow, our cruise is not until 10/19/24 (a Sat-Sat cruise). We were planning on flying in the Thursday before and stay 2 nights. I just checked availability there and, already, nothing is availabile.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion. Our cruise is not until 10/19/24 - 10/26-24 (a Sat-Sat itnerary). We plan on flying in the Thursday before and stay 2 nights before embarkation; I just checked availability and, already, nothing is available there.
  6. Happy Friday Everyone. We just booked a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise out of New Orleans and we've never cruised out of there before. We plan on flying in a couple days before embarkation and want to get your suggestions on where to stay so we can taste of the French Quarter and Garden District (and not too far from the cruise port). We were not planning on renting a car (don't think we need to). TIA!
  7. Hi Everyone, I was just wondering what your favorite search engine is for looking for cruises. I've been using cruise.com but wanted to know what you all use. Basically, I'd like to search based on date range, cruise line, ship, embarkation port, destination, # of nights and then get an idea of the pricing. TIA!
  8. It does but Starlink does not work as well the further north you go. So we took Radiance on an Alaskan cruise earlier this summer and it wasn't so great.
  9. Same with us. We, also, were to be on the RCB Group Cruise on Rhapsody (Panama Canal) and switched to OY (3/16). Hope to see you there. One thing to be aware of, is the date we are to be at PDCC, there will be another ship there (Liberty OTS).
  10. Hi Everyone, We've been on Vision class, Radiance class, Voyager class, Freedom class and Oasis class ships but have never been on a Quantum class ship. We are taking our first Quantum class ship (Odyssey) next spring and want to know what the differences are (e.g. layout, etc) and what other things to expect. FWIW, we are "Diamond" C&A if that makes a difference. TIA!
  11. Here's my guess of what happened: The itinerary is slightly changing but some knuckelhead entered PM instead of AM triggering the emails. What I don't understand is why I got 12 emails!
  12. I also posted a very similar question in the roll call for Mariner OTS Sept 29 - Oct 7... We are booked on Mariner OTS Sept 29 through Oct 7 (only a week away!). Anyway, we had booked an excursion in Nassau ("Blue Lagoon Island Adult Only Beach Day"). Our original itinerary has us in Nassau on Day 7 (Thur Oct 5) from 11a to 5p. However, overnight, I received an email that the excursion start time is now 11:30 PM! Is this the Royal Caribbean Crack IT staff at it again? Update: I received 12 emails stating the same thing at about 4:56 AM EDT!
  13. Now, this is very confusing. We had booked an excursion in Nassau ("Blue Lagoon Island Adult Only Beach Day"). Our original itinerary has us in Nassau on Day 7 (Thur Oct 5) from 11a to 5p. However, overnight, I received an email that the excursion start time is now 11:30 PM! Is this the Royal Caribbean Crack IT staff at it again?
  14. I got the current entertainment schedule from Royal Caribbean Productions for our cruise: September 30, 2023 Jeff Taveggia (first Sea Day) October 1, 2023 Michelle Murlin (second sea day) October 3, 2023 Jasen Magic (leaving Bermuda) October 5, 2023 Travis Cloer (leaving Nassau)
  15. I posted this in my upcoming Mariner rollcall but it really applies to any cruise ending (in a US port) at the beginning of October. Anyone know if the US Government shuts down at the end of September, will this affect disembarkations at the beginning of October? (I'd be nervous if I had an early flight).
  16. I was thinking about this. If the US Government shuts down the end of September (and continues into the first week of October), will it affect our ability to disembark at Port Canaveral on October 7?
  17. Totally agree. If they charge for this adults-only beach, what's to stop them from charging to enter the Solarium?
  18. According to the article @Matt wrote, Wonder OTS will be at Hideaway Beach March 17 and the price is 43.99. It turns out that Odyssey will also be there that day (I'm on that sailing; same week that the RCB Panama Group cruise would have been) and its price shows in the planner as 52.99. Anyone have thoughts on why the price differences? (and I wonder if the prices will drop Black Friday week)
  19. I couldn't agree more. Since our kids are grown it's just the wife and me but I've always advocated getting passports. When I meet people who do not travel much (or even have never been out of the country), I urge them to get passports and explain that when they are not in a hurry, it's the time to get them (besides, they're good for 10 years). P.S. Great TED talk!
  20. Thanks so much. What a great resource (I missed it when you first posted it)! I've bookmarked it and added it to my "Keepers" folder.
  21. I agree but the issue is RC didn't "cancel" those cruises. They just changed the itinerary (and they did not charge change fees). In our case, we opted to switch the sailing to Odyssey the same week because Panama is very expensive to fly to for just sailing to the southern caribbean.
  22. We were supposed to be on that one. It would have been our first RCB group cruise plus we've never been to the Panama Canal. Oh well! We switched to Odyssey the same week.
  23. I think we were on the same cruise this past June (Radiance Vancouver to Seward). We booked a 3 night land tour with Alaska Tour & Travel afterwards and it was great. They picked us up right at the cruise terminal in Seward. Since our flight home from Anchorage was at night, we just booked a day tour from Viator that day. One thing that made our trip great was the weather (which you can't count on). We only had a little rain the last day in Anchorage before we flew home.
  24. Great! Even though we just became "Diamond", this will be our first cruise on a Quantum Class ship! Though we are "loyal to Royal", we try to cruise when there won't be many kids on the ship. Though Odyssey is certainly a kid-friendly ship, we're hoping there aren't too many college kids (it will be spring-break season) due to the costs (when I was in college, I didn't have much money) and it's a full month before Easter so the public schools should not be out that week. I'm not saying there won't be any kids, just that their numbers should be a bit down.
  25. My wife and I are both "Diamond" and trying to figure out if it's worth it to prepay for Voom Internet for our 2 upcoming 8-night cruises. Both cruises are out of Florida and they each stop at Perfect Day. I know that one of the perks of Diamond is 1 free day of Voom so I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense to prepay for it ahead of time or get in on the ship (to take advantage of the free day for Diamond C&A members). Thoughts?
