  1. OK, I'm hung up on "if you didn't finish the first one you really had to ask for the 2nd one". Lots of times I get something to try and don't like it and go to my 2nd choice. How big a deal did they make not finishing 1st one?
  2. Why? Not enough per plate in MDR? Not enough choice? Or MDR just stank? Genuinely curious. Details please. LOL.
  3. What's to understand. It's money. Royal Caribbean is going cheap on food. IMHO
  4. You keep pushing this guy in a conversation turned argument that has nothing to do with you. The other guy even apologized already. Only you keep going.
  5. You can but it is against the rules and basically called stealing. Not a great thing to teach your children. The rest of us pay a daily rate, but sure let me stand in line behind your kids so you can save $8.99. Not really fair is it?
  6. Are you asking if you can give your kids soda from your beverage package? The answer would be no. You can purchase the soda package for them for $8.99 per day.
  7. OK, booking shows on Oasis class ships 45 to 60 etc out. On the app or the website? For some reason I can't remember.
  8. I don't feel they should get more. And it's not my problem they rely on it as part of their salary. They took the job knowing some will tip more then others. Also that removing auto gratuities is an option. I tip what I feel is appropriate, Not the cruise line, not other cruisers. What I want to tip. Just like on land. And no I don't care about the folks washing the sheets in the laundry, etc. That's not my problem on land, not my problem at sea. I don't see a cruise as a humanitarian mission like some here do. Chocolates for the workers, Tips on top of tips, etc. Do any of you give this much thought to the people working in your local Walmart, etc? It's seems to be some kind of privileged guilt. I don't have that. Money for my trip comes from several years of saving. You wait on me, I leave a tip. The way people in this country have been doing for a hundred years. But making up the shortfall of a multi million dollar companies pay scale I don't feel is my problem. And as far as low wage workers goes, I know more of them then any other kind. Hell, I am one. A lot of people "only make" that kind of money. I cannot tip more then suggested amounts. That's my limit. Because I don't have, not don't want to. And I happen to think those that directly serve you should get the tip, like on land. I can't fix the world in a weeks vacation. That's not my responsibility.
  9. Doesn't mean they shouldn't either. Hundreds do this per cruise. I've seen the lines of people waiting to have them removed. Some like cash in hand to those who dealt directly with. Frankly some get more from me this way, some less. Depending on the service. But I'm doing me. You do you.
  10. It's an available option. Some people like to give cash directly to those who served and waited on them. I've done it both ways. It's old school. Then again so am I. But asking why is it allowed, followed directly by should we all do it, is a contradiction. Stir the pot much???
  11. When I oder something, I want it. When I don't order something, I don't want it. I don't believe in treating cruise ship crew special to other service workers. On land in a restaurant if I say no, it's no. Period. Having issues with my order is the fastest way to get zero tips. It really, really is that simple. And that system works on land just fine.
  12. I love Nori press, hair straighteners, curling irons, OK. Steamers no. Like one is more dangerous than the other. What has been anyone's luck getting steamers by lately? Hold the lectures. Curious.
  13. This entire topic has me wanting to say "Get to a meeting". LOL.
  14. Well, now we went from it's coming to it hasn't been announced. Hair splitting maybe? It's been heavily implied. But as I read the last few posts it was about ice. Since they don't have ice machines accessible on every deck, I see that as a problem. And I wonder if having to call and ask will come with a fee attached? (Wouldn't put it past them). As far as cleaning goes. I like twice a day. Also cabins are smaller than hotel rooms. Trash, smells, etc ..tend to linger. It's a nice airing out when door is open and cart is blocking it. Plus we all know germs spread faster on a ship. Probably not the best time to cut back on wiping things down. Also I know we have brought sand back on/in shoes, swimming clothes, etc...and it trails and tracks on carpet, bathroom floor, etc. Roomservice plates left around. Most people will just let them sit and stink the place because they are lazy. Overall, just not a good idea.
  15. Ok, I'll take the other side on this. I don't think anyone should pay a penny for a cabin with no AC. I think your math for 42% or 3/7ths based on the amount of time it was out is reasonable and accurate. I also don't believe going from 30% to 42% based on that math/time would have been a big stretch for them to make. Also, I don't see comparing this to a hotel. If I'm in a hotel and the AC is broken for more then 2 hours, I leave. Try this at see and you drown. And OBC FCC, BS. You paid them cash and should expect refund in the same. The only place I side with others is your lack of attitude at the time. Others were causing a scene because it is a big deal. But you gotta do it then and there. You wait, you loose. I don't and never have understood this Royal Caribbean can do no wrong nonsense. Especially if it's a company you care about, hold them accountable and to a high standard. It's in both parties best interest. Side note: Quoting Ampurp85 was an accident. By the time I realized I had already typed all this. This was not directed at her, but everyone. Asking 42% not 30% based on days/math isn't trying to cash in on a problem. 12% more to get this done and dusted was a lost opportunity on Royals part.
  16. "Mrs Doubtfire". LOL. Yes, Royal Caribbean should provide hand holding services when going through and dealing with customs. All because customs agents were rude and kept them waiting? Nobody was arrested. Nobody was accused of drug smuggling. This is ridiculous.
  17. First, I couldn't care less what benefits the cabin attendant. Second, I see smaller to no tips at all for less work. And most importantly noticeable work like towel animals in evening etc. I think it's the realization that the person has come again, Making people feel special that starts the tipping thought process in many minds. They will get little to nothing from me if I see them once a day. It's the extra something that gets the extra something. I think this is a big mistake.
  18. Depending on how I feel all but bark can come from mine.
  19. If someone needs to push a small dog around in a stroller to feel safe and comfortable (the person, not the dog) then I do see that as emotional support. Maybe not specifically defined by any organization, but just by me. How anyone can not see that as an emotional need is beyond me. Not talking laws, rules, etc. Just as a person looking at the need of the person with the animal. If it's that important and someone is willing to go to that much work, then who am I to care. My only concern is the safety of the animal. But overall it's like shorts in the MDR. Do your thing, I'll do mine. Life goes on.
  20. OK, I love how you said "Only interested in Royal Caribbean excursions" and have gotten everything but. Lol. I picked one of the Royal excursions myself and would love to here peoples thoughts on official Royal St Maarten Beach excursions. Who's done them?
  21. I disagree. I believe these changes will alienate many who cruise multiple times per year and they (Royal) run the risk of losing many loyal customers.
  22. #3 No, you don't get to pick a cabin with a GTY guarantee. You no say in it. It will be selected for you sometime before you board. Anytime between now and day of boarding.
  23. People don't order multiple to "fill up". It's about sampling and it has always been part of the experience. And to the people who say I don't eat potatoes so I ask they be left off plate to save food. The food is cooked in advance. Enough is made to go around. If you pass it is not put in Tupperware and reserved. It still goes. They can't make more to order on the spot if they run out mid service. And safety limits what can be done with it. Plus at least 4 other basic restaurant kitchen factors that come to mind.
