  1. None of my bookings have had middle name on them and haven’t had issue with that when boarding. In fact, my bookings also usually don’t end up having my suffix (II) so when scanning my passport at the terminal for final check in the folio gets “updated” to have it. Each time I’ve checked in and boarded just fine. I also use my passport checking in on the app when it opens and never encounter any problems.
  2. I think everyone can add value to these forums since they are coming from different perspectives and backgrounds. And there are a lot of "newbies" who come here to learn too, so if you do decide to post things from that perspective I'm sure that will help others down the road too. I'm not nearly as seasoned as some on here, but still try to add value where I can from my experiences or knowledge.
  3. Anytime @Sunnymer! This forum has lots of knowledgeable and friendly people to help, and often can add some unique insight into things one may not have thought of before. It’s a great place to look for information, whether searching for or posting a question if what you’re looking for can’t be found right away. And while I may not see myself making a live thread, I’ve followed along on a few to gain some tips or just enjoy the adventure with the updates.
  4. Also @Sunnymer, if you want to just quote a part of the post you can highlight it and after there should be a small box underneath that says "Quote Selection" and you can click that - but it's harder to do if using the boards on a phone/tablet versus an actual computer. But you can always take out the text in the quote box if you just click/tap the generic quote button too.
  5. Thanks, just heard from my TA that cruise was repriced (mostly) without issue. Wasn’t a huge price drop, but another cruise had a decent one so easy enough to have the TA do both at the same time. I was advised though that the updated docs are running slow today but she’ll send the updated invoices once she gets them. Only potential trouble was that my cruise was showing a deposit due (was a NextCruise open booking, but I’m booked in an ocean view so NextCruise deposit should suffice). TA called in the reprice to check on that and was told money was owed still, but she told me she’d try again since the extra deposit wasn’t “due” for two days. TA tried again this afternoon and rep confirmed NextCruise deposit paid was sufficient (confirming YMMV situation depending on which agent you get), and was told only those categories of JS or above have an increased deposit due - so sounds like even the reps are trying to learn the new policies. But end result is I’m saving a couple hundred dollars on the upcoming cruises, which I’m sure I’ll just spend in another way for the trips . Thanks for the quick responses this morning!
  6. Can a GTY cabin be repriced if GTY pricing has dropped? I know what may seem like a simple question might not end up being so simple... But current situation is booked a GTY cabin last week for a 2024 sailing and noticed that the price has come down on this category of GTY cabin. Cabin assignment has not been made yet and still showing GTY. I'm pretty sure I've seen that once cabin is assigned I'm subject to that cabin category for any potential repricing, which means a repricing becomes much less likely with the significant savings for booking a GTY.
  7. Maybe the last segment of the World Cruise then with those dates.
  8. If given the choice I’d prefer evening too - I tend to be not so much of a morning person, but often that changes on a cruise and I surprise myself how early I can get up . I was surprised to have it serviced by the time I finished breakfast most mornings, especially if I was quick with breakfast and there weren’t any attendants in the hall yet when going to breakfast! My attendant also told me on the last cruise that on a couple days most of his morning rooms still had the “do not disturb” magnet up on the door for a large part of the morning, so since he saw I was out and my room available he took care of it then.
  9. (While not explicitly stated) I interpreted it as possible TA to Miami for the overall trip, stopping in NY as a port stop, then going down to Bermuda and Bahamas and ending in Miami. Though I definitely could have read into that wrong…
  10. Good to know about no immigration hang ups for a similar itinerary. Mine is going US > Labadee > PR > USVI > rest of Caribbean islands > US. I know Labadee can be a bit different for how regulations are applied (as in some requirements for Haiti aren’t/haven’t been needed for Labadee, even though it’s physically located on Haiti), but wanted to be prepared just in case for stopping in PR as the next stop. CBP could always decide to do things differently for dates that are months down the line, but always good to hear about past experience as a guide for strong possibilities for how it will be handled.
  11. It definitely is a classic cruise experience, and what I truly enjoyed on my last sailing. In fact I enjoyed it so much I booked another on Vision and one on Grandeur for next year! Just let me be out on the water and enjoy the cruise for what it is. What the ship lacks in bells and whistles, I feel the crew and activities can make up for. Granted the crew atmosphere and morale can always change, but the recent crew had a great energy that you could feel and showed they enjoyed being there too. I also felt I got to know fellow passengers a lot more as there (obviously) were fewer on board and I always seemed to run into people again and again.
  12. I took the train to DC for a flight after returning to Baltimore a few weeks back, and Penn Station was about 15 min away, $15-20 fare for an Uber. I heard the BWI station was possibly a little closer to the port, but both are decent options.
  13. My last cruise was similar, in that I was told my section would have morning service as my attendant had to do evening service for another section as well. But I was also told that if I had any needs like towels, etc. that if I called or made the request they would deliver those as soon as possible. My attendant was very good though, and I often had my room serviced while I was at breakfast before even leaving the ship! About the only difference I noticed was that I got my towel animals in the morning with the service instead of later in the day. So I would assume that the decision for morning or evening service is made by the ship for scheduling, and the passengers aren't given as much of a choice for that.
  14. My recent experiences have been that the staff have asked me how things have been on the trip so far (service, etc.) and if I've had any issues that I haven't brought up, and only after I share my candid thoughts in the moment they remind me about the survey and to make sure I share my thoughts there as well. I did also learn on my last sailing from multiple crew members that (at least on that ship) the ship management posts the results and updates them daily after a sailing, and the crew said they enjoyed seeing the results of their service in writing like that. That may vary by ship, but it was an aspect I never considered. I usually answer the survey, and mention my actual experiences and include names as appropriate. But also do not hesitate to mention any problems that occur early on so they can be addressed instead of just complaining at the end when never giving the crew an opportunity to make an improvement on a situation they may not have knowledge about at the time.
  15. I had heard various times that US always requires customs after returning from ANY foreign port (which is why usually if an itinerary is stopping at US ports they often put them at the beginning), but I don't have personal experience with the situation. I'm trying to research if I'll have to go through customs during an itinerary of mine next year that stops at Labadee as the first port, then goes to Puerto Rico and USVI after and am trying to plan for if I'll have to go through customs when we get to Puerto Rico before I book any excursions to know the timeframe.
  16. I think I've seen in writing (though can't remember where specifically in the T&C at the moment) that the room has to be booked as a solo from the beginning now to get the extra point per night. Something about if the second passenger cancels they can still make an insurance claim, etc. so the passenger is still "booked" for that reason in Royal's system. I just got off of a sailing that I booked solo but only got 1 point per night (I think something got messed up when it was booked, as my OBC for vaious sources - shareholder, Nextcruise, etc. - kept dropping off before the cruise and my TA had to do a lot of work to resolve that), but C&A was able to get me the extra point since they could see it was booked as a solo from the start.
  17. It will be deck 4, and embarking directly into the centrum, not the promenade deck like other home ports. And due to being in US waters for the length of the Chesapeake, casino (and shops) likely won’t open the first night - and close early the last (between 6-8pm depending on when the ship reaches the Chesapeake again).
  18. Good to know about Tampa, as my other 2024 cruise that’s booked will be from Tampa
  19. While I have AT&T, like mentioned by @Ampurp85 the pricing of the "plan" leaves me with very little value for the price. But I do have WiFi calling as part of my plan, and have had great success with calling/texting using the ship WiFi and the regular phone features (and not data messaging and/or internet video/audio chats, though I've used those as well without any issue), and the party on the other end is actually quite surprised I'm talking to them from a ship out at sea. If you are already planning on purchasing internet, check with your carrier if they have WiFi calling (most do now, and free for most as well) and add it if it's free. The WiFi calling helps even if not out far from land, but even back home or in an area with coverage but a bad building layout that kills signal - the WiFi calling has made it seamless for me in those situations as well.
  20. I can only partially speak to Baltimore since my only experience has been debarking from Vision on her repositioning a few weeks ago (but I just booked a trip in January on Vision so I'll have more experience after that). But going through the terminal after debarkation was very smooth, with movement through Customs quite quick, luggage readily available after exiting Customs, and was easy to get picked up by rideshare (though the layout of the parking lot sent my driver to a section of the lot that didn't connect, but not really a fault of the driver/port and more the rideshare mapping). Lots of people on board were from the Baltimore and greater DC/DMV area and praised its convenience and ease to sail from.
  21. Just booked this repositioning for next year after enjoying a similar one on Vision earlier this month. Still a decent time out, but already looking forward to it!
  22. Hello, just booked myself on this sailing. I was on the recent repositioning of Vision to Baltimore, and loved her and her crew so that (combined with the unique itinerary) pushed me to committing to this sailing. @SailawayKing Beverage packages are definitely in the cruise planner now as @BnT042895 mentioned, I haven’t purchased for this cruise yet but on my last one for Vision I was able to snag early for <$50/day. You can always cancel and rebook if the price drops.
  23. Welcome to the cruise @GoldenTimeHero! I'll be solo as well for this one. And this is now officially my next cruise since I just got off of Vision yesterday as we brought her into Baltimore. Only 136 days to go...
  24. They announced today on Vision (at the Top Tier followed by an ship announcement a few hours later) that we would be having a Captain’s Reception tonight “because this is a repositioning cruise” and made it sound like they only do that for transatlantic, transpacific, or repositioning cruises. Not sure why that would make a difference though.
  25. Glad you had a nice time and trip on Vision, and am on board for the repositioning now. She has truly been well taken care of, and though some furnishings show signs of age overall much of the ship’s main features don’t show many signs of wear. (A few I’ve met so far who have sailed Grandeur a few times lately said that one is showing much more age for being fairly close in age.) Internet has been quite reliable so far, only very brief interruptions I’ve noticed are in the far corners of the ship probably near end of range for the router. And at least for me it’s much too soon to form opinions on the MDR good yet, especially since this is my first with the new menus. But I’m going to see how things pan out for MDR in general. (I’m with you on WJ being last on my list for choice - pretty much only do lunch there in port of I don’t eat off ship.) While sold out, it feels like there are a good amount of people missing - I heard a LOT had flight issues with the storms, etc. our 8 top table for dinner only had 3, and the table next to us only had 2, so we combined (and the waiters had to shuffle to realize what happened!)
