  1. I've been running the same scenario on a few upcoming cruises (one for us and our 2 sons, one for my youngest son and his buddies) In both cases we were looking at a 2 bedroom suite vs 2 adjoining balconies (in the case of my kid and his buddies, might need 3 balconies). From a cost perspective, in all our scenarios that we looked at it's about 4K+ more for the suite. Having said that you might luck out (2018 I came across a 2 bedroom aquatheather for 2800 total, unfortunately we had a wedding to go to), but it might be easier to find those gems in the Caribbean where they have more cruise ships operating. As wordell1 mentions is do the amenities make it worth it. Also having DS1, DS2, DD2 would also be a factor going towards the suite as you might not get 3 rooms close together
  2. I hear ya. We're equal distances between Toronto and Buffalo and we always fly out of Buffalo. Not only for the savings, but I'd rather go through customs in the comfort of my car at the Peace Bridge rather than at Pearson ariport. Only downside is we're more than likely end up with having to take a connecting flight. Having said that I know a lot of people who'll drive to Detroit (about 3.5 hrs) and fly out of there as opposed to TO.
  3. Never used cruise line insurance, does it cover more than the cruise portion of the trip?
  4. Thanks, that's what I was looking for. The person on the phone advised not to black out anything, which concerned me.
  5. Official announcement came out this morning https://www.thestar.com/politics/2022/09/26/feds-to-lift-border-vaccine-mandates-mandatory-use-of-arrivecan.html However, they put a caveat in there that they could reintroduce them
  6. So you can redact your non royal investments. We tried calling the (954) 628-9325 to ask and the guy wasn't too useful. I'm assuming you blacked out both the account number and other investments? I still have 4 weeks, but need to submit soon
  7. I like the website for entering text info as I find it easier than on my phone. Taking the picture and scanning the passport is far easier on the app. Having said that the app allows you in at midnight, the website doesn't (not sure how long after midnight you need to wait if that's all your using).
  8. No, the government hasn't formally announced it. This previous release seems to be a trial balloon through unnamed sources. Sounds like the PM was asked by reporters yesterday and wouldn't confirm. https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/trudeau-refuses-to-confirm-whether-arrivecan-covid-vaccine-mandates-will-be-lifted-after-next-week FWIW I did get call from a polling firm on Thursday and some of the questions were around the arrivecan
  9. I don't recall the lines being crazy long whenever we went, maybe at any given time 20 people. How long you're on it maybe 1-2 minutes. Suite guests might have a time block set aside for them, but in general just get in line. They rotate amoung surfing and boggie boarding at different times, usually outlined in the cruise compass
  10. When we purchased the soda package a few weeks ago for our upcoming cruise, we notice the gratuity was already added. Never noticed it before, the only reason it stood out to me this time as we're on 14 day cruise.
  11. We travel with a party member in a wheelchair. Your arrive time is whatever you pick, but your expedited boarding is probably similar. From smokeybandit's list above, for us for (2) and (3) you end up going to a different line which are much shorter (only a few people), there should be somebody there directing you.
  12. I've always just turned Roaming off, have never put it in airplane mode
  13. We've used CAA/AAA for a while now and have had no issue. Our TA does more than book the trip, he provides valuable advice and info.
  14. I must be pretty going, while every cruise I've been on there have been hiccups if you will, I've never let them bother me. Never been on the Aventure, but will be in a few weeks. One thing I do have to wonder is did the cruise lines reopen to fast (although I don't blame them), maybe should have not brought as many ships online. All cruise lines have a bunch of inexperienced crew members right now, far more than they normally would pre covid. It'll take a while for that to work through the system. I do fully expect bumps in the road for the new little while
  15. I tend to be old school. While I do have stuff loaded to my phone, I always have a printed copy in travel folder and have it in hand when entering the terminal
  16. Love the pumpkin seed dinner rolls, bring me basket and I’m happy
  17. Take this with a grain of salt, but this newspaper is very cozy with the government. From a couple of days ago
  18. Wow, that almost seems like a glitch in the system. Can't see everybody trying at midnight. I just did ours last Sunday at 12:01 and get an 11 am check in. Wonder if maybe this sailing is partially chartered and they were given priority
  19. There was a thread on this a month or so ago pointing to RCL communication, definitely not your imagination. Maybe they changed it back?
  20. Haven't been, but will be in 6 weeks. That's one port that many people seem to say "Don't get off the ship". I hear alot crime.
  21. I was slowly accumulating stock (10 per quarter), when it crashed over the summer I bought enough to get me to 100. My excuse now is the more the we cruise, the more money RCL makes, the more the stock price will go up
  22. Cruised out of there a few times in the summer, but have one on the Adventure late Oct. Been told it's cold the first night, but you can switch to shorts when you hit South Carolina. Not much around the port, but park there as many say. One suggestion is plan for the weather coming back, not just what it's like going down. Last time I went on an November cruise it was fine going down. Last night of the cruise a snowstorm hit the east coast. Some thing like 3 feet of snow in Buffalo (where I flew out of). Didn't have a shovel in the car and all I had was a hoddie. Lucky for me the shuttle driver had a shovel and let me use it. This time will have the shovel and will throw a winter jacket in vehicle
  23. Yep I can hit a golf ball across the Niagara River into Buffalo, but if I want to go over for some wings and beef on weck I have to fill out that form. Funny part is I can fill it out a couple of days before I go over (which kind of defeats the original purpose of it). There is a marathon in Detroit where part of it crosses over into Windsor for like 5 minutes and they expect the runners to fill it out. It'll be here until there is a change up top
