  1. I understand I will need reservations at Chops. How far ahead of the cruise date should I make them? Can I make them from the Royal App? Can I arrange something special there for a birthday surprise? thx
  2. Thanks for the good ideas! This brings up another question: Is cash tipping permissible, advisable, frowned upon? Like if I had a special request for the head waiter or maitre'd , would slipping him a tip be ok?
  3. I'm looking for ideas for something special I can do for my wife on her birthday during our seven day cruise on Liberty. Maybe some surprise at dinner in the MDR....or elsewhere on the ship. How do you accomplish something special like this, who do you see, what have you seen or done in the past, etc. All help and ideas welcome!. (Her birthday will be on Day 2 of the cruise)
  4. Looks like it is money well spent. I'm looking at it like the purpose of the cruise to begin with is a getaway from worries and difficulties and just have a fun experience. Not having a passport could wreck that idea. Thanks all!
  5. I'm not single and not going on Grandeur but was wondering what a "hhohup" is...….just curious
  6. Great! I guess the times they open are pretty much the same on other ships. I like the idea of grabbing a cup and going topside at sunrise. I did that on Rhapsody and there was kind of a regular crowd up there. That was good times for sure....
  7. Our first and only cruise was on Rhapsody back in 2003 when it was out of Galveston. That was so long ago our opinion is really not relevant now....but I'm not busy right now so why not? We didn't have anything to compare to other than I spent years on a missile cruiser as a guest of Uncle Sam....and I have to say, Rhapsody was a lot more FUN!!! lol. My wife enjoyed it and we still reminisce to this day. We are booking a cruise now on Liberty and it looks to be a bigger ship than Rhapsody....but size really doesn't matter to us (as far as cruise ships go). Rhapsody had an excellent crew back then and we didn't really have any complaints except the parking was horrible. But that had nothing to do with the ship...… I still brag about making enough at blackjack to pay for my cruise. I need to do that again on Liberty!! Y'all have fun!!
  8. I'm an early riser....and I like my coffee. Is there a way to brew my own coffee in the stateroom? If not, is there somewhere on the ship (Liberty in my case) that I can go get coffee for myself then bring some back to my wife? Room service I know is an option but don't want to disturb sleeping wife.( I guess I'm trying to relate to staying in a hotel)
  9. We are going on a RC Western Caribbean 7 day cruise before long. I have read differing bits of info on whether we should get passports or not....birth certificates and picture IDs being sufficient. Does anyone have any info, experiences, etc. on this?
  10. I was wondering about texting. Is this something you set up with RC..... or your cell phone company?
  11. I'm guilty. But.....I justify it by having convinced myself that that is better than stumbling around clueless. I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). I have been on one cruise in the past but that was in 2003 and truthfully have forgotten many details. So I'm brushing up and re-thinking a lot for an upcoming cruise. I'll be watching response you get for sure. Good luck on your cruise and have fun!
  12. Trying to pick balcony stateroom on Liberty, decks available in the midships section are 6,7 and 8. In the forward section there are just a few on deck 12. The ones available are scattered. We prefer quiet over hubbub and less walking. Do we want close to an elevator or not? The rooms available on 12 look more secluded....is that a good option? Any and all help appreciated!
