If you decide to do this, just remember you have to lug off all of your luggage yourself, so if there are more than 2 of you (Family of 4) that can be a lot of luggage. Once you are in the building you can get a porter to help carry your luggage but not before.
We are exactly that (family of 4) with kids a bit too young to help with the lugging so this may not be an option, guess I will just have to find the most obnoxious ribbons I can find to tie all over my suitcases lol

We are first time cruisers too and I'm glad I read this thread.....I guess we should do the self disembarking!

If you want to do "touristy" things, there is always Ron Jon's if you head south on A1A. If you have most of the day to spend, you could visit Kennedy Space Center, there are nice exhibits and a bus ride that takes you all over the center. There area couple of nice seafood restaurants at the port (Rusty's, Grills, etc). Lots of people like visiting the Cape Canaveral Pier.
I assume you will be taking the Oasis out - I'm jealous!! I live close by there, from Merritt Island we can see the Oasis sticking up on Port Canaveral skyline......
We are actually on Harmony....by Ron Jon's do you mean the resort that is coming up on Google or is there something else?

What makes KSC so amazing is the building devoted to the Space Shuttle Atlantis --- The entire lead up to it as you see the history of the shuttle program is something, you will NEVER forget. As you enter the building, you walk under two solid rocket boosters (pictured) ---- plus the section devoted to those lost on the Challenger and Columbia will bring a tear to your eye
WOW that is REALLY cool!!!

I should probably add we have 2 kids 10 & 7

We will be staying in Cape Canaveral the day before we sail on 2/17 and I had initially thought we would just hang by the pool all day but now I'm thinking I should probably have a backup plan in case the weather is not permitting. Any suggestions?

No, the clamshells on adrenaline beach are great too. I stayed in one a few years ago and enjoyed it: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2016/05/18/spotlight-labadee-beach-loungers
Thank you!! I am just concerned with everyone saying how rocky Adrenaline beach is.

I have 2 of the clam shell loungers booked for us and our 2 kids (9 & 7) but am just now figuring out they are on Adrenaline beach however I have heard Columbus Cove is the place to be, should I cancel them?
Ugh...Online system down....again?????

I was having trouble for a week finishing my check in, I called and was on hold for LITERALLY 32 minutes but alas they fixed it for me.
