  1. I don't need to worry about height, just width and weight. ? All of y'all have convinced me to do it. Mar 2022 on Symphony OTS.
  2. Whenever I try any of the waterslides on cruise ships I stop partway down. I have to push myself along until I can get moving again. It's embarrassing and I always lose the waterslide races. The Ultimate Abyss looks like it is so steep that I won't get stuck. Is that true? Steven
  3. Thanks, everyone. I am going to take everyone's advice and keep an eye on the prices and hope they drop low enough to be worthwhile to me. I can always cancel and re-buy if the prices drop.
  4. Currently, my cruise is so far out nothing is on the cruise planner. About when should I start to see thing appearing on the CP?
  5. I have sailed with RC a few times. I have a booking for Symphony OTS for Mar 2022. I have never booked this far out so I am unsure how far in advance of the cruise do things like drink packages become available. What's the answer, seasoned veterans, will I probably be able to book things on this coming Black Friday or will I have to wait until 2021. I know this is a long time in the future but I have to be planning something. I'm going crazy not being able to be in either vacation planning or vacation taking mode. TIA Steven
  6. I'm going March 2022. @Jolly Ogre Report back here what you find about Blackbeard, please.
  7. @DunkelBierJay Oh, my bad. Then it's even better. Now to see if they are closed because of COVID or because of damage.
  8. @Mrs. Thomas I wouldn't get too excited. I think it is a tourist site, not a historical site. But still looks like it could be fun.
  9. Is Blackbeard's Castle still shut down in St. Thomas?
  10. Mariner's escape room is awesome. We solved it with 30 seconds remainiing.
  11. Am I the only person that think it is strange that RC (and other cruise lines) are trying their hardest to get all crew members home if they really are going to start cruising in a month or so? If they are able to do that then the first few cruises will have 100% new crew members on board. No overlap. Steven
  12. Well that just figures. Oh well, it could be worse. The SB cabins are now 2C cabins.
  13. Way back in December (seems like forever, doesn't it?) I booked a cruise on Allure OTS for Feb 2022. I booked an SB category (Spa Spacious Stateroom with Balcony) cabin. This was when Allure OTS was going to cruise out of Galveston. Well, 2020 happened and Allure is no longer going to be sailing out of Galveston in Feb 2022. In fact, it is no longer going to be amped any time soon. I am considering moving to one of the Oasis class ships sailing out of Florida. No matter where I look, the SB category does not seem to be available anymore. This category gives a few extra spa and cabin perks. Has the SB category gone away? Is it no longer available? The very same cabin number on Oasis is now listed as a 2C cabin. I hope to get on Oasis OTS but I my wife would really like the spa perks. I really don't care (except that it makes the wife happy). Any info would be welcome. Steven
  14. Thank you both @Ampurp85 and @twangster. Everything was going great, an amped Allure out of Galveston with no flying required. What could be better. I had it booked. Now, COVID has trashed two of my vacations. Oh well, it could be worse. At least I don't have COVID. Thanks to both of you for your info. Steven
  15. @twangster I have heard this said about the Oasis ships before. How are the Oasis class ships geared towards week long cruises more than the other class of ships? I really want to sail on an Oasis class ship in the Caribbean. I am going to put this off until April of 2021. I know all of the Oasis ships are incredible but I was looking forward to Allure after it's amping. Now that the amping is not going to occur and the fact that I am going to have to fly to sail on one, which is the biggest and baddest of them all? I have sailed on Mariner and Liberty and thoroughly enjoyed both of them, now I want something even better!! TIA Steven
  16. Then they really need to find some more varied ports. I would really like it if they had longer cruises, maybe go all the way to the eastern Caribbean.
  17. I was scheduled to take Allure OTS out of Galveston in Feb 2022. I found out a few days ago that Liberty OTS is going to stay in Galveston and my cruise was transferred to her. I like Liberty, sailed on her once, but I really wanted to take an Oasis class ship. I know that no one has a crystal ball but is RC / Port of Galveston still likely to build the new terminal? I know that they have announced that they will, albeit a year late, but how likely is it to actually occur? I am assuming that once the terminal is ready then RC will move an Oasis class ship here (otherwise, why bother building the new terminal). What is the current thinking of all of you crystal ball gazers? Cruise on Liberty, fly to Florida for an Oasis, or bide my time and do both out of Galveston? TIA Steven
  18. Thanks @Galveston Steve. That sounds promising. I was hoping for a Oasis class ship but Anthem would do in a pinch. I am taking this as a positive sign.
  19. Dang. I was hoping to be able to keep my Feb 2022 cruise. But nooooo.
  20. I understand that it will block other traffic but it will do that when they build the new terminal eventually, right? Or is the new terminal to be in a different location?
  21. Is there any possibility for Galveston to deepen the port, allowing for Allure OTS to reach the dock and use the existing RC terminal? Or is Allure just too large for that?
  22. Having come off a four night cruise on Mariner OTS in November, I was surprised by the two formal nights on Liberty OTS out of Galveston. On Mariner, it was "dress your best" in the MDR. On Liberty, it a full blown formal night. For men, sport coats up to tuxedos were worn by probably 75% of the men. I looked like a bum wearing slacks and a polo shirt. Oh well, live and learn.
  23. Consider going from November to May. That way you avoid the hurricane season. While a hurricane will probably not cause you cruise to be cancelled, it could cause it to be diverted to different ports. If you wait until May (which I am doing) you also have the best chance of having ports that were damaged last hurricane season to be repaired and ready for tourists.
