Favourite restaurant while you are ashore
Matt replied to DAVE(Darkcabbie)'s topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
We love exploring restaurants while on shore, especially authentic restaurants. My favorite to this day is a great mexican restaurant in Cozumel called Comidas Caseras Tonita: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2011/09/21/restaurant-review-comidas-caseras-tonita- 19 replies

Fitness and Exercise while on board
Matt replied to DAVE(Darkcabbie)'s topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Definitely have free weights. Can't comment on the other machines but I've seen lots of machines for use, as well as machines for classes. Usually the gym is open something like 6am to 10pm (depends on the ship). You never know. Carnival is known to name their ships the same name as ships in other cruise lines. And of course, "Fantasy of the Seas" is not the same as "Carnival Fantasy" or "Disney Fantasy", technically speaking.

They had a Starbucks on Freedom of the Seas in February and I ordered "my usual" but I recall it being slightly different than I usually have it. Of course, if they ever got Starbucks to be complimentary then I would be the biggest fan ever of outsourced restaurants onboard :D

Might be too late now but you can rent a car from MCO and then drop it off in Port Canaveral. If 2 or more people, can be cheaper than transfers

Best bet is to get to port as early as they will let you. Not sure about Southampton, but here in USA, that's usually between 10:00 - 10:30am

What's your favourite embarkation port and why
Matt replied to DAVE(Darkcabbie)'s topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I agree with anyone that says any port of embarkation that does not require flying! Now that we live in NY, I'm all about Bayonne/Cape Liberty- 11 replies

My honeymoon cruise on Mariner of the Seas involved dodging storms but we hit all of our ports and nothing terrible in terms of the sea being rough.

What's your favourite embarkation port and why

Of the ports I've been to, Port Canaveral has certainly been the easiest/fastest. Port Everglades embarkation was great but disembarkation not so much- 11 replies

Cooking classes like this are on my bucket list of things to do while onboard. I haven't done it yet but maybe on my next cruise

Wow! I guess that didn't stop you from going back

The thing I really enjoy about the MDR is the service. I like the waiters know what I want, do tricks for my daughter, etc. To me, it's a big part of the cruise experience.

There's also the Carnival Fantasy (and I believe Carnival has a whole class of ships named Fantasy)

Since eastern and western Caribbean itineraries are so common for Royal Caribbean, which of the two do you prefer? Or better yet, if you could go on a Royal Caribbean cruise today and had to pick, which would you pick and why?

I ate at Seafood Shack on Oasis back in 2010 and it was empty but I didn't think the food was awful. I actually would prefer Margaritaville, or any chain for that matter, not come to the ships. I prefer the ship restaurants to be unique and something I can't enjoy on land. That's what makes cruising special/unique.

Have a great time! Let us know all about it when you get back

Which famous celebrity have you seen on board
Matt replied to DAVE(Darkcabbie)'s topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I haven't seen any celebs on my sailings <_< -
Do you use a travel agent or book directly through RCL?
Matt replied to Julie's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
My criteria for a good TA are as follows Knowledgeable about Royal Caribbean and the ships. Doesn't need to know more than me, but should be familiar with the lingo, ship classes and popular itineraries Willing to call Royal Caribbean with any and all inquiries I have about new possible discounts I find After booking, actively checks a few times per week (at least) for price changes in what I booked to see if I can save more money Willing to fight with Royal Caribbean if I find another TA/web site offering better booking incentives. -
I've always felt the Winjammer's hours were a bit too limited. They don't need it operating at full capacity all the time necessarily, but having a couple stations open wouldn't be a big deal. Frankly, I suspect the reason it's not left open is because guests will likely make too much of a mess and therefore, they'd need to staff it adequately, which in turn costs more.

Nothing wrong with being negative as long as you're fair. Plus I think others will find it useful to hear the good and bad of anything.

Samba Grill and Ritas are two restaurants I'd really like to try, so glad to hear they were good choices for you
