  1. Hi Matt nice to meet you - been listening to your podcasts all day!! In the gym, driving, etc - fantastic!

I'm so confused about this drink package though - heard you podcast about the drinks package and you listed through the things that are not included in the package like canned drinks, bottled water, high end drinks etc. but RC state that what I've bought covers everything that is on board. We're not big drinkers, but when we do we like NICE drinks. So can I get this straight - if I order a double Remy Maarten brandy is that going to be included??

Or it says that all bottled water? Is that wrong or right?

I've paid best part of £800 for all four of us to drink so surely that would cover everything on board!!

    Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion. Very little is NOT included in the drinks package. The ultimate package does included bottled water. You may find this page helpful in seeing what is and what is not included: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/royal-caribbean-beverage-packages

Thank you for listening to the podcast!

  2. Unfortunately I will be at work (probably trying to tune in.  Shhhh!).  Looking forward to hearing it though.  It is an oddly effective therapy to carry you through between cruises.  My last was in 2006 so look out when we finally hit the deck on our next one.  Have a great live podcast Matt!!

Thank you for listening and I'm glad I can be of help between cruises!

  3. You may bring 2 bottles of wine per stateroom that you carry on with you.  The rule is you cannot bring water but honestly if you also carry on the water, most likely you will not have any problems based on everything I've read and seen.

There is no limit for any of the unlimited drink packages in terms of how many drinks per day/week/cruise.

  4. We've booked the ultimate drinks packages and understand that this gets you any drink you like (is that right??) but do you swipe your card every time you get a drink? How does it work with the kids - is there someone there to know if they are getting a premium drink as a opposed to a "free" drink?

Or have we got it totally off track?

Any info about how swiping drinks and food would be great

    -----

Another thing is is there a separate ironing service to the laundry service? Without an iron how can we make sure we don't all walk around with creased clothes?! If there is one any idea how much?

    Thanks!

    Welcome!

With the ultimate drink package, you can order pretty much any drink on the menu onboard your ship.  There are a few exceptions but otherwise all included.

You will go to order a drink and tell the waiter/bartender you have the ultimate drink package.  They will swipe your SeaPass card and it will confirm what you told them and you owe nothing more.

They will swipe your card for every single drink.  You may only order one drink per person on the drink package at a time.

I'm not sure what you mean about kids because kids are too young for the alcohol packages  :P

Yes there is a service to just iron your clothes.  It's called having your clothes only pressed.  I forget how much exactly it is but just a few dollars per item.  Fairly nominal charge and better than wrinkly clothes!

  5. Hi everyone,

I'd like to ask about wine&dine package. Has anyone bought it before?

If I buy this package (min package is 5 bottles), what happens if I cannot finish one bottle in one dinner? Do they service the remaining bottle the other night? If yes, 5 bottle package can be a good fit for a 12 day cruise.

Or is there a different system they use for this package?

The same question applies for the wines that are bought from the wine cellar (on-line) to be brought to dinning.

    Thanks for advance!

Unused wine is stored for you and brought to you the next night. In fact, you can drink in main dining room one night and next night have your unused wine brought to a specialty restaurant.

You just tell your waiter you have the wine package and they can find your wine based on your stateroom number.

  6. If the sea day is after a port day, we try to sleep in a little.  That being said, I don't want to miss breakfast so we usually use our daughter as our alarm clock....when she wakes up, so do we

We use sea days to do things on the ship like massages, ice skating, see a show, etc.  But in the afternoon we try for putting my daughter in Adventure Ocean so my wife and I can enjoy some time by the pool relaxing.

About what time we go to bed, we are terrible about staying up late.  We always think we will stay up late but we run around so much in the day that we're wiped by 10pm  :D

  7. Hello!  I'm Kyle from D.C. <well, Northern Virginia actually but it's easier to say D.C.>.  I'm 28 and I work full time in the aerospace and defense industry.  I actually just took my first cruise earlier this year: Oasis (Eastern itinerary) in April.  It was everything I expected and more.  I did so much research not only on Oasis but on cruising in general that I knew more than my friends who had been on several cruises in the past.  Part of that was thanks to this site and the podcast, so thanks Matt!

Next up for me is Freedom (Western) on August 31st.  For two friends coming along it will be their first cruise, so this year has been all about first-time cruising!  I became addicted on Oasis and now it is my turn to pay it forward and get my friends hooked as well.

I look forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome Kyle!  I've enjoyed your photos that you have sent in for Friday Photos!

  9. Love the podcasts.  Working to catch up on all.  What time is the regular airing of the podcasts?  Keep up the very excellent work.  It is such a great service to all of us cruise enthusiasts!  Thank you!

I release new episodes usually on Wednesdays at 10am.

We also have a LIVE episode recording coming up on July 30 at 8pm eastern that you should come be a part of!

  10. Some of the best balconies are "hump balconies", which are balconies that are on the part of the ship that jets out if you look down on its deck plan.

The reason they are preferred is because these balconies are substantially larger than other balconies but there is no additional cost.

I had one of these balconies on Jewel of the Seas and it was amazing how large it was.

  11. When I went to deck 9 to get towels for Coco Cay, they asked if I was going to use them on the ship.  When I told them that I needed them for the beach, they directed me to deck 3 to check them out.  They had someone checking the towels back in on deck 1 when we returned.  I am not sure how they would know if you are going to take them off the ship.  There was no difference in the towels.

Ah, ok that makes more sense to me.

I'm okay with this policy just because you grab towels when you leave the ship and when you return, you deposit the dirty towels on your way back in.
