Ashleigh
Curious if anyone has insight into potential issues between Royal Caribbean and San Juan, PR. For about a decade, Voyager or Freedom class ships departed out of San Juan for 7-night cruises with alternating routes. Now, the ship has been downsized to Radiance class sailing one route for March 2024 (nothing posted for April 2024 yet). Not only that, no ships are showing PR as a port of call. This leads me to believe there are issues behind the scenes but it’s disappointing since San Juan is our favorite place to depart for a Caribbean cruise. ZBrady
Can't speak to it being a home port, but RC is still making stops in San Juan. May be less frequent than in the past, but you can see the schedule here - https://www.cruisemapper.com/ports/san-juan-port-39?month=2023-02#schedule
Austin
We have Adventure and Wonder from PC and Freedom from Lauderdale calling on PR in 2024 and 2025. Jewel can stop at smaller ports in the southern Carib like Trinidad and Tobago. I think we will see more with the release of winter itineraries for 24/25. PR was also slow to normalize things post Covid. You could say the same for calling on Antigua… they dredged their port for Oasis sized vessels but none are visiting. Only a few select smaller ships. The Pan American pier is in dire need of massive updates and repairs. The San Juan port authority and governmental agencies have had terrible in-fighting and have been unable to achieve the tasks at hand. The cruise lines are "demanding" a third party port management company to step in, and the cruise lines want a seat at the table. The cruise lines have even stipulated what management company they will work with. Ashleigh
