Extra petite
Hi, I have heard that sometimes there are discounts on the speciality restaurants once onboard the ship. Is this true for every cruise? Do they have system e.g. Discounts are offered on chops on the first night, giovanni discounts are always on night 3, or is it random? DocLC
A 20% discount is offered for the specialty restaurants if you dine there on the first night. I've never heard of a 3rd night discount. If you book 3 or more specialty restaurants, though, you will receive 20% or more off of each of them; the discount increases with the number of restaurant reservations booked. There is also usually a day one discount, where if you dine at a specialty restaurant on the first night there is usually a 20% off discount. Extra petite
Do you get the discount if you book online in advance? The price is the same no matter what day I select. Does it only apply if book on first day once onboard?
Jerel
If a restaurant is slow don't they give discounts to try and get people in? I thought I heard of them offering deals to people heading into the windjammer.

DocLC
The restaurants were extremely slow on the Brilliance, never more than 1/3rd full and I didn't see any discounts nor were any offered when I asked beyond those typically offered (e.g., 20% off when you book 3). Michael Vitale
Jerel, I'm no expert, but I'd say you're right. There was someone from Giovanni's offering 20% off for dinner. This was at the pool right after the belly flop contest. Ironic eh ?? LOL DocLC and Matt
DocLC
I have heard of additional discounts being offered, even kids dine for free, to fill the restaurants, which is why I asked on the Brilliance as we were considering dining at Giovani's for lunch. But on our 12 night sailing, there were no additional discounts being offered even though I had heard of discounts being offered on previous sailings. I wouldn't tell anyone to plan on discounts beyond day 1. DocLC
DocLC
I wouldn't tell anyone to plan on discounts beyond day 1. Completely agree, Matt, just like I wouldn't tell someone to expect all you can eat sushi in Izumi even though it has happened.

Dude, I'm not sure if I am more disappointed that I haven't had the pleasure of all you can eat sushi or the fact I didn't know it existed until recently.
