  1. They say once you start sailing in suites you can't go back. Well...they weren't kidding! We attempted going back last year...all the way back. We sailed three consecutive cruises in February 2023 on Navigator of the Seas in an interior cabin. I don't know what we were thinking! We survived, but determined we are officially suite snobs now! Now when I start looking at cruises and suggest a cruise, my hubby is the first to ask if it's a suite. If the answer is no, it's a no-go! I've created a monster...but I'm okay with that. LOL We've been busy with wedding planning this past year with our daughter, so we've taken a break from cruising. Since the newlyweds were on a cruise for their honeymoon (naturally), they shared pics of their adventures and I got jealous. Now we're going on a cruise! Details on our adventure: Who's Going Just the empty nesters! Flight & Hotels Flying in two days before on a super duper early flight non-stop from home to Orlando. Staying one night in Orlando to meet up with our middle daughter who lives in Florida. Taking the Brightline train from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale the day before the cruise Staying one night in Ft Lauderdale at the Hilton Ft Lauderdale Marina (hopefully) with a view of our ship!! Cruise Celebrity Beyond July 7 - 13, 2024 Cabin Booked Retreat Guarantee and were assigned a Sky Suite on deck 9 Itinerary Day 1: Leaving Ft Lauderdale at 4pm Day 2: Perfect Day at Cococay Booked the Hideaway Beach (Adults Only) Day Pass Day 3: At sea Day 4: Grand Cayman (haven't been here since our very first cruise 25 years ago!!) Day 5: At Sea Day 6: Bimini Bahamas (never been before) Day 7: Back in Ft Lauderdale I'm 4 minutes from checking in for this cruise! I hope you'll join us for our adventure! I'll be taking a ton of pics of the ship and the Retreat and comparing to Star Class on Royal! If you have any specific questions, let us know and we'll do our best to answer them along the journey.
  2. Really excited. T-6 days until we sail on Celebrity Beyond for an 11 day partial transition cruise to the ABC islands and Panama canal over both Christmas and New years! We were on Anthem of the Seas for Thanksgiving so we have spent all of the recent holidays on board cruise ships! :). It was a much needed break! On Anthem, we sailed to Cococay and enjoyed the Music Hall on The Quantum class ships! We also are big fans of 270 and the 270 restaurant for breakfast vs. fighting the crowd in the Windjammer. Next Thursday we are flying to FLL and staying at Hyatt house.. . We will explore some local breweries in Lauderdale the day before the cruise. Friday, we board the ship. I changed some dining reservations due to a flash sale in the planner so I will need to move my reservation time to an earlier time after we board as we like to eat early. I have several specialty dining reservations this cruise. We were really big fans of Eden on Celebrity Apex 2 years ago so we are excited to be going back. We also have the steakhouse booked, and Daniel Bouloud's new restaurant, La voyage which I have booked on Christmas eve. My last trip to the ABC islands was the 2019 royal caribbean blog New year's eve group cruise right before the pandemic! Stay tuned to follow the journey with us!
  3. I leave tomorrow morning on a B2B Celebrity Caribbean Cruise. The booking is in a Solo Balcony cabin with premium everything and shore excursions in every port. It was an unbelievable deal that had premium everything and $1,500 OBC. I am a 63-year-old single man that has about 30 cruises under my belt. I cruised the first 10 with my first wife. I cruised the next 12 with my son as a Single Parent. The next 6 were as a Solo Cruiser and the last 6 have been a mixture of Solo and with my 26-year-old son. I have always loved cruising and loved planning them and going on them. I am past my planned retirement date and have a new plan on retiring November 2024. My work keeps making me offers where it is hard to retire. After I retire, I am planning on doing a lot of travel and cruising. For now, I work 60 hours a week and Coach Water Polo in my free time. Now you are wondering about my title... For the last few months, I knew it was coming and I leave tomorrow, and I really don't care. I am not excited and do not know what to expect. It is not that I do not want to go but I am not looking forward to the cruise like I have on all my others in the past. I go to the airport in 9 hours and have not packed yet. I did print my documents and cleaned out my backpack but have not packed anything back in it. I am setting her thinking I need to pack and get ready to leave but it is hard to get moving. I am writing this blog in hopes it will: Help me get excited. or Give me something to do. or Both If you would like to follow and see how it goes, I will keep you posted.
