    POSITIVES:

    1.  On both cruises our cabins were quite larger.   We had a window suite on one and an inside virtual window on the second.   Plenty of space for the WC and lots of storage

    2.  Bathroom also was large with a great shower space.  The built in seat was way too small for anyone with balance issues.   We were able to get a small shower chair but that too was not ideal.  We asked again and they found us a shower Bench

3  handicap excursions were available at 3 ports and the price was comparable to able-body excursions

4  Dining room seating was very tight the first night but we requested to be reseated and though we were in a high-traffic area there was plenty of space for the Wheelchair

    OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

1  Very Few designated WC seating spaces in the Royal Theater and even less in “270” venue   I counted 4 spaces and we had over 100 passengers with mobility issues (per Guest Services)   They need to add more spaces AND designate companion seating

2  Access to the dance floor in “270” was very difficult as we had to go across the main stage and could not exit during a performance   The Lift down to the floor was broken on our second  cruise  YES - we love to dance!

3  table heights in the different eating/drinking venues could offer some slightly taller table tops for electric WCs but my wife’s manual WC was fine

4  Lack of room schematics   It would have been nice to see our cabin layout and dimensions before booking  We booked on a hope and prayer trusting it would work

I have CP and am in a wheelchair mostly full time now and since co-vid my mother and I have found that there are very few  handicap excursions to the point she started looking at outside providers.  We sail from Fla

  2. I started a thread about a possible middle ground to this here

     https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/42532-charging-for-the-pizza-possible-middle-ground/

Charge at certain times or even and this JUST came to me for certain pizzas, but have it free between X and Y time they do that both with room service and on certain ships with Johnny Rockets as well.  Heck even in the MDR they have a few items that are extra.

The survey asking if we will pay mone for Sorentos made me think why to stop there. Here some more creative ideas for RCL:

Weight the plates in the WJ and pay by the pound.

Want Emuster ? Pay extra otherwise you are back to the regular crowded muster.

All cabin doors to be removed , want privacy ? It's extra, diamonds will get free transparent shower  curtains,  D+ will get free transparent door and pineapples will get a real door but without a latch.

Quest challenge lidt can be purchased the day before , same for Love and Marriage.

Tender boat tickets will cost money,  people will be able to swim to port for free.

For dinner time you can choose between 5 to 5:15 PM , want another slot ? It's extra.

Extra charge the comedy show if you don't want to be the star of the show.

Jacuzzi will be coin operated,  the good news, you can use your key to charge it to you room.

The flowrider will still be free you just need to pay if you want it filed with water.

At the end of the cruise at the exit you will need to be weight , every extra pound you gain during the cruise will be charged.

Charge 4500$ for a 7 hour use of the over the water cabanas , oh wait ...

Are these real ideas ( honest questions as some of them it is hard to tell the e-muster and tender boats mostly.

  4. What if they treated it like room service or Johnny Rockets on the Oasis class where they only charged before or after a certain time?  Since it is one of the few or only options opened late what if they said between 10AM and 9PM ( for example)it is free, BUT if you want it at 11 at night you have to pay for it or even the other way where it is only free during "off hours" say from 9PM  until closing ( since most people even though it is one of the only late night options would be getting it during the day).  This way they could still charge, while at the same time still having free pizza during certain times (either during peek times or during not so peek times where if you want something late night you have to pay for it, but it would be free for meals.     This may be a good "middle ground" and it is not as if they do not already do this with certain other food options so it would not be completely new.

They may could either instead or in addition charge for certain pizzas if you wanted say cheese pizza or another "basic pizza" it would be free, but if you wanted say a speciality pizza  you would have to pay or what about you get your first one or two slices for free  after that you pay would also serve as a way to cut down on waste.  Way that could work is either only two free slices at a time or two free slices within a certain period of time say two free slices per six hour period.

I know this is super crazy to even ask but our family will be cruising Dec 31 to Jan 7 2022 on wonder of the sea and was wondering if anyone is willing to add two adult to their room since it is now sold out. She is a nurse and she just found out she is off that week and now the ship is fully booked, they told me the only way she could probably get on is if someone has rooms that are not fully occupied to add them. She will not stay in the room she would just stay with one of our rooms but we are all fully occupied and can’t add her.

    thanks!

Wait is this one sold out I heard that it was the Dec 11th one (in which case our cruise would not be affected.

I don't share your enthusiasm.  Small ships don't do well in the mass market cruising segment and they aren't consistent with Royal's current direction.

Unless there is a change in management thinking, small ships won't exist in the future Royal Caribbean International fleet.  The only question is how long will the current small ships remain?

They just have to remember that if they do that they will lose certain cruisers too either because they like the smaller ships and/or because there are certain ports that cannot handle those large ships, so you have people that will take their business elsewhere if you do not offer small ships.

It should be as its location on the Oasis class ships doesn't require the stairs like on Mariner.  The one on Oasis of the Seas is definitely wheelchair accessible.

Last I heard the escape room isn't fully built out yet, but they're doing some of the puzzles in there and offering that as a free activity instead. I'm on the December 18 sailing and hope to try it out then.

    thank you.

  8. If the puzzle break room on Wonder is wheelchair accessible?  For all intents and purposes I am a full time wheelchair user on the ship.  I walk around in my home, but can no longer walk outside my home without major assistance I have a moderate case of CP and my ability to walk independently has declined such over the years in public major assistance or a wheelchair is my only option . I am going on the New Year's Eve cruise on Wonder and signed up for the puzzle break room only for my mom to remind me that  I needed to ensure it was  accessible as the one on MTS is not I was very disappointed about this and so to avoid that again we decided it best to check.  I looked online and cannot find an answer.  It is my mom, sister, her,  fiancee and myself going

  9. I am in a wheelchair in public the vast majority of the time in public due to poor mobility as a result of a moderate case of cerebral palsy.  My mom and I have noticed that in recent years ( we started cruising in 16) that there are not really any accessible excursions offered through RC ( especially for those of us who cannot make steps to get up on transportation and need assistance to take even a very few steps on uneven surfaces.  Has anyone had any experience with this?  We are going on a cruise on New Year's Eve and mom says this will likely be our last one which I am really sad about part of it is the cost, but the bigger part is probably the lack of accessible excursions.  We would not be going on this one except that mom was not going to waste our FCC.  Anyone else have this problem or know how to get a fire under their butt to do something.
