  1. I have decided that for our family of four on our 7 night cruise I want to do the 3 night dining package. Apparently it forces you to begin using it day 1 or 2 because when you try to add it on the cruise planner it makes you select one of those 2 days with a specific time before you can pay for it. As far as times, how can I commit to a time now when I have no idea what times the shows are (first cruise)?? I don’t want to miss a show because I booked a conflicting dinner time. Any suggestions? For day 1 its giving me the following 4 options…. 5:30 6:00 8:30 9:00 For day 2 its giving me the following 2 options… 8:30 9:00
  2. I was able to get them to switch it up just in case we decide to get the wife the ultimate drink package but honestly I don’t think it makes sense at $78+ per night. On a 7 night cruise I doubt she will consume enough to justify that cost. I think its better to just pay by the drink. Plus she’ll have 4 bottles in the room she can drink from as well.
  3. This stresses me out a little because I usually don’t carry much cash on my person. Never really have the need to. That is why the automatic tip idea appeals to me. However I do see the point in wanting to additionally compensate someone for really going out of there way to accommodate me. After reading all these responses in this post apparently many of you carry a mini cash register with you when you cruise lol That being said, for a first time cruiser that does not know how many individual people I may want to extra tip, what do you suggest as far as how much tipping cash to bring and in what denominations?
  4. This is great advice but how should it be taken? As needed when you start to feel motion sickness? Or be popping them all day long to prevent? Obviously not possible while sleeping.
  5. Is it 2 per stateroom or 2 per adult? If its 2 per stateroom and I have connecting staterooms but me and the wife are on one reservation and my 2 daughters (14 and 11) are on the other reservation, will we have a problem bringing in 4 bottles of wine?
  6. I thought about going that route but I saw that it only gave 2 times. 5:30 and 8pm. I would maybe have gone with 8pm but I don’t know yet if that interferes with show times which is why I chose My Time Dining. I guess I have to wait for check-in to open up in order to see showtimes?
  7. What time do you go for breakfast and dinner at the WJ?
  8. You have a point. The first rep I spoke to was probably misinformed.
  9. I wish I would have read this before now. I’m not getting notifications on this post and took me a while to even find it. I thought maybe moderator had not gotten to approving it. I actually made this change yesterday (2 connecting staterooms) and when the RCI rep asked me how I wanted to split us up I said I don’t care. She ended up putting me and my wife in one room and the girls in the other. My wife is the only one that drinks (wine) and it definitely would have been better to split us up so I am not forced into getting the drink pkg. Thanks for pointing that out. Do think its too late to ask for that change? They always make it seem like after last payment you can’t make any more changes. My first payment was my last payment since I am booking within 3 months of the sail date.
  10. Had an RCI rep tell me that I can call in and remove travel protection prior to sail date if I wanted to. So I called my credit card company and after finding out that I have pretty good trip cancellation coverage thru them I tried calling RCI again to remove the travel protection and the RCI rep that I connected with this time tells me that I cannot do that because final payment was already made. She supposably checked with “resolution team” after I told her to please make sure. Mind you that “final payment” was my only payment because I booked 3 months before sail date so the entire fair was due at booking. Do you think I should try to escalate? Is there an email I can send to someone?
  11. Oasis of the Seas Ocean view balcony connecting rooms Deck 6 next to forward elevator Deck 7 next to forward elevator Deck 9 next to rear elevator Which one do you think is better and why?
  12. First cruise ever. 7 night western carribean on Oasys of the Seas. November 20-27 Family of 4 (wife, myself, and our 14yr old and 11yr old girls). I am currently debating between UDP and 3 night dining plan ($220pp vs $102pp right now). My fear is that being the week of Thanksgiving perhaps the ship may be at full capacity and free spots like MDR and Windjammer will be a mad house to find a table and be in long lines to eat. With the UDP being able to do potentially do specialty restaurants every night and lunch on seadays sounds like it can maybe save me from the madness if I plan right. Mind you, I still want to have the opportunity to try MDR and Windjammer. Please share your thoughts. Also which restaurants can I not wear flip flops at? I still have to pre purchase internet for all 4 of us as well as drink packages which I may just do soda pkgs since my wife is the only one that drinks (wine) and I’ll have a beer or 2 now and then.
  13. First cruise our family of 4 is going on (my daughters are 14 and 11). Its a 7 night cruise. Right now we are booked for a regular oceanview stateroom with balcony close to the FORWARD elevators on deck 6. After learning a little bit more about the ships layouts I wanted to move to same room but close to AFT elevators instead. When I went to do search I noticed that room 7330 is available. Its the most aft room on deck 7 and looks to be about 100 sqft larger than the regular staterooms with a much larger balcony. The regular staterooms look so tight in pictures and I feel like we will be on top of each other and suite cases in the way, etc. If I switch to this ultra spacious stateroom room (not even sure if thats possible) the price difference is about $1600. Is it worth it? Am I going to regret being at the very back of the ship away from the elevators? Please share thoughts.
