We did the same thing with our daughter and her friend. Guest services made ‘room entry’ keys for the people not staying in the assigned room. They kept their original seapass cards and had another to unlock the door, if that makes any sense. So they had to carry 2 cards.
That was prepandemic so not sure if its changed.
