  1. You got that right.  I went ahead and booked one with a next cruise certificate and when I looked at the paperwork later, I noticed a deposit due amount of  $700 due a week from now.  I thought the whole idea of next cruise was to use less risk with a $200 deposit.  Anyways, I called and first person said since its a 12 nite cruise, it needs more deposit.  Second person said don't worry about it, it just showed up because the booking may have gone thru a different number.  Very confusing.  I got a good deal I don't want to lose but also don't want to plop down another $700 if that is the case.  Guess I will call back again and try for a better answer.

The weather here has been bonkers this year. We're currently sweltering in temperatures of over 30°C which is way warmer than it should be for the time of year. So, as @Biaggio says, there's no way to know what the weather will be like a year from now. Late October/early November are often lovely, with lots of sunshine but not overly hot, so ideal for sightseeing. That said, there's plenty to do indoors in Lisbon if the weather does decide to be unfriendly so it would be a pity to write off what looks like a potentially fabulous trip purely based on that basis.

Agreed.  I always wanted to go see southern Portugal but my understanding is alot of it may shutdown around that time of year.  But I'm not sure.

It’s possible, we are scheduled to do it October 26, 2024 Port Canaveral to Lisbon, then November 10th Barcelona back to Port Canaveral. A rare opportunity so we jumped on it. A few days between cruises allows us to do laundry and do some sightseeing over there.

I am still looking at this.  I wasn't thrilled by the weather in portugal this time of year.

  4. Thanks .  That helps.  I was just confused if i used a refundable deposit in advance if it would end up costing more in the end result vs. getting a nonrefundable deposit.  So in my estimation then, it seems it is a safer and equal bet to get a refundable deposit.  I think.

Yes, the tier certificate to be applied before final payment is due.

When I click on the refundable deposit it shows it to cost $387 but then shows a deposit of $500.  So I am gathering the total costs of the cruise goes up with the refundable deposit, even though the deposit seems to stay the same.  So wouldn't it make sense to do the refundable just in case the certificate isn't accepted?

I guess i am still confused.  If it's a refundable deposit , the cost of the cruise goes up.  Once the 2024 tier certificate is applied would the ultimate cost of the cruise be the same as a non refundable deposit?

  6. I was told by RCCL on the phone that any discount given for an advance reservation would be cancelled but the BOGO should be honored.  It just wasn't made clear to me if doing an advance reservation is generally acceptable for BOGO.  It seemed like it was the first time she was given this question and situation.

  7. Before I saw this topic on this site, I had called RCCL.  I was trying to get a reservation for the second night for the D+ BOGO but it was unavailable online.  The agent had to ask for help a couple of times but ultimately gave me the reservation for just myself (one person) and told me to go to guest services once onboard to confirm my D+ BOGO.  So not sure if this will get cancelled out once onboard or if this could have been an accident they will honor.

  8. Just so ya'll know, I had a different experience a week ago.  I had a cruise previously reserved with Next Cruise.  I was able to apply my annual free cruise to this reservation and it all worked out.  It took me three calls to get the right agent.  Based on what I read here, I don't know which is right or wrong now.  But I would like to know for future trips as I usually book with next cruise and then apply my annual to that booking later.
