I have always used this Budget location but this past June it was a nightmare at drop off- just as you described.  Lines of people to drop off and pick up, only two workers, and no air conditioning.  They also tried to charge me insurance even though I had declined. The only positive was the great shuttle driver.  I am  comparing prices from Enterprise with Budget for next time.  Enterprise is actually closer to the Royal terminal but I have never used them.  I think they have odd times though--Maybe someone here has experience.

I'm having a hard time finding any alternatives to Budget and Avis. Avis is getting similar reviews.  Enterprise has stellar reviews for Port Canaveral, but they don't seen to be open or at least have any availability when we're there.

  2. Let me preface this by saying that I understand times are tough for travel and especially rental cars. Car shortages, labor shortages and more.  I get it.

We sailed out of Port Canaveral this last week and overall it went really, really well.  The one problem spot was rental car.  The drop off before embarkation was okay, but the pickup experience when we got back was bad.

We rented from Budget which is usually really good for us. Love the FastBreak when it's working correctly.  Anyway, got the the Port Canaveral location and it was chaos.  People waiting everywhere, a good size line to speak to someone and, when I got through all that... no cars.  Had to wait for a car to be returned and for my turn at that car to actually get something to drive.  We did get a car and did get where we needed to go.

So my question is... is there another rental company that's doing a better job right now?  Like cars in stock and reasonably quick service.  We have another cruise out of Port Canaveral in January and would like it to go smoother if possible.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. We're on the 9/4 sailing of Adventure from Nassau.  We're arriving two days early staying at the Baha Mar.

Looking at the prices at Baha Mar, we're planning to have the taxi take us by a grocery store to get a few items including some bottled water on our way from the airport to the resort.  Generally, will taxi drivers be okay with a diversion and short wait?  Any ballpark on cost from the Airport to Baha Mar with a quick diversion?

Also, we have what I would call at early flight back (leaves at 11:05). I've heard contradicting information on taxi availability at the port. If anyone has sailed out of Nassau recently... are taxis easy to find when you disembarked?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. We have a November Cruise on Symphony out of Miami. Flying in to Ft Lauderdale a day before. Looking for a one way rental from FLL to the Port of Miami. I prefer Budget because I use their FastBreak. I can't book at one way from FLL to Budget's cruise port location.  However... it appears to be the same address (89 Se 2nd Street) as their downtown location which I choose for drop off.  I'm assuming the same port shuttle is available.

Anyone dropped off at Budget downtown?   Any other thoughts or ideas?

  5. Getting ready for a cruise on the Allure coming up quickly in November.  I thought I'd check suite availability and pricing to see what could be had.  A suite guarantee is available that's not all that much more than our balcony cabin.  I called RC to talk about it and got some additional information, namely that it's a junior suite guarantee.  The thing that caused me to shy away was that the customer service agent told me there are non-balcony, panoramic window junior suites.  I don't want to potentially give up the balcony, so, I haven't done it yet.  Doing some more digging I see where these non-balcony suites do exist on some ships, but I'm not finding them on Allure.  Do you know if there are non-balcony Junior Suites on Allure?
