Yes.  You can only use an FCC on an existing reservation. Therefore, the deposit must have already been made.  No, Royal is not getting additional money from you (unless the cruise fare on the “replacement “ cruise is more $$ than the original cruise, which it is, in many cases).  Your original deposit is being refunded to you as it is part of the FCC....so you are getting everything back that you put into your original cruise, one way or another.

There has been a recent change where Royal is permitting extended “holds” to be placed on cruises so that people don’t have to put deposits down, however, I’m not sure if they are changing the fact that the FCC can only be placed against an existing reservation or not.  In other words, you may still have to put down initial money (deposit) to create a booking before an FCC can be applied.  I just don’t know.

It sure if this is correct but I read somewhere that I would have to pay the deposit to hold the cabin for rebooked cruise.  Once I apply the FCC they would refund the deposit I made for the rebooked cruise.

  2. Hello this FCC stuff is very confusing . I understand the taxes fees and port charges are refunded to you . So you only get FCC on your base fare . Example by base fare for me was $ 1039 and my wife’s is also $1039 . So with 125% FCC would be $1299 for each of us .

If if I want to rebook a cruise with RC using the FFC . I can’t use the FCC for the taxes fees and port charges I understand that . It’s the deposit I can’t wrap my head around . From what I have gather I have to pay the deposit not using my FCC is this correct ? Isn’t his RC getting more money from me to cruise with them ? Can anyone explain this to me ?

  3. Hello we are going on Liberty of the Seas and one of our stops is in Cozumel . I would like to rent a Jeep for the day and check out the east side of island . It would be me my wife and two teenaged daughters . I have tried contacting HTL by email four times with on response . Is there a place at the port where we can rent a Jeep ?

If you are flying into Hobby, I don't recommend staying near the airport. It's a rough part of town with a limited number of places for dinner. If you can't get a room on the island, try the Clear Lake/League City/Webster area. It's about halfway between the airport and the island. It's a nice area with lots of options for dinner and even shopping if need be. If you fly into IAH, staying by the airport is fine. With all that being said, Steve is correct that you should be fine in relation to Spring Break. The majority of schools and colleges will be on break either the week of 3/9-3/13 or 3/16-3/20 with the bulk being that first week. There may be some springbreakers on the island when you sail, but the big crowds will have cleared out by then.

Great info thanks so much !

Spring Break will be spread across the three weeks prior to your arrival for Texas schools and colleges, so that should not impact you. I always encourage folks to stay on the island and enjoy the local restaurants and nightlife. However you might save some hotel cost if you stay near the airport if that cost difference is important to you.

Thanks for all the info !
