  1. I have excursions scheduled for St Thomas (snorkeling) and St Lucia (Segway).  Looking for things to do in St Croix, Antigua, and Grenada.

I am looking at ATV adventures.  The Royal Caribbean sponsored excursion on Antigua is unavailable to sign up for until I am shipboard.  I am looking online at one on St Croix.

  2. I did Dolphin Discovery with grandkids a year ago on a Disney cruise.  (Sorry, did I mention grandkids?)  It was a great one time experience and would highly recommend it.  You get to interact with the dolphins under trainer supervision and the dolphins actually push you around the lagoon.  Pretty cool stuff.

A word of caution.  Our five year old was afraid of the dolphins.  Probably look pretty big to a little one.

Also, picture taking is pretty restricted.  They want to sell their own picture packages.  My son-in-law was so far away that he couldn't get any decent photos.  If you want to buy pictures, bring lots of money.

  3. Our southern Caribbean cruise starts on the Jewel of the Seas on February 7.  Yeah!

We signed up for two excursions and am wondering about the other days.  I have had more experienced cruise ship travelers say the better way to go onshore is to find a cabbie who will really show you the island, and at less cost.  Anyone else have feedback for this more adventuresome approach?

  4. I have already made most of my arrangements through Royal Caribbean.  The online process has been pretty easy and I have been calling the 800 numbers when I have questions.  Reading these posts, I may reconsider in the future.  My apparently misguided assumption was that going through a travel agent was have additional "agent" fees.

If I am only three weeks away from the cruse date, is there still any benefit to switching to a travel agent?

  5. Carnival announced today a new internet package that offers unlimited access Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, & Snapchat for a fee of just $5/day or $25/voyage.

I'd love to see Royal Caribbean offer something similar, especially for that kind of a price.  Would you buy it?

For that price, absolutely. I am going to be buying the $199 Internet cruise package for my southern Caribbean cruise next month. Expensive but necessary.

  6. I booked my Southern Caribbean cruise online through RCCL today then called them to answer some questions.  The rep answered our questions, including having to research a couple with other departments.  I don't think a TA would have done any better or any faster.  I did purchase airfare on my own for less money.  Also, my wife and I are going down to San Juan a couple of days early and I made hotel reservations on my own at a considerable savings over the RCCL approved hotels.

    All is good so far!

  7. Many people enjoy the Seaview Cafe, deck 12 aft.  It has limited hours so you have to check your Compass for hours.

When you go to the Windjammer (buffet) don't miss the covered outdoor seating.  It is all the way in the back through the Windjammer.

Deck six has the Schooner Bar, Game Reserve (with self leveling pool tables) and The Safari Club, all nice.

Also take a walk out to the helicopter pad. To get there take the deck four promenade walkway forward and go up the staircase.

I would love to see the compasses when you return if you are up for keeping them and scanning them.

We just purchased this cruise for February.  Thank you for the pics!
