Thank you!! We will definitely check out Rome in Limo, too!

So helpful! Thank you so much for such a detailed reply! What you said helped confirm our thinking in not doing the RC excursion, but exploring other options. No real mobility issues, but I am going with my mom who is will be almost 70, and she also dislikes the heat (we are going next July!) so the idea of an air conditioned bus was appealing We have looked briefly into Get Your Guide, and will also check out the ones you recommended, too! Thank you!

Hello! It will be our first time in Rome, which is where our cruise is ending. Has anyone done the RC Excursion called "Top Sights of Rome with Airport Drop Off (FCO) or City Center Drop Off". If so, did you enjoy? We are planning on spending a couple of days in Rome post cruise, and wanting to see the main sites. RC lists the excursion visits: Trevi Fountain Venice Square Roman Forum Outside of Roman Colosseum Arch of Constantine Vatican City, St. Peter's Square Or, have you done another excursion with another company you recommend to see the main things? We also looked into a golf cart tour, but that would not include Vatican City. I guess we are also wondering if we will be disappointed in not going inside the Colosseum or places in Vatican City (Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica) or if it would be worth going back afterwards to tour the insides, after already visiting on this tour. Whew - I included a handful of questions there! Thanks for your time in answering any part of them.

Try Bounce! https://usebounce.com/ I also read about people asking hotels to hold their luggage, but sometimes a day pass is needed.

Thank you! When you arrived in Taormina, how much time did you spend there?

We are doing the same cruise as you, just reverse order with starting in Athens and ending in Rome! It is also our first time in Italy and Greece. We have booked a couple excursions, mainly just the "on your own" ones through RC. How many days are you planning to spend in Athens and Rome? -
We did this! Thank you so much! Super easy.

Hello! On our upcoming cruise, we are headed to Messina, Sicily, but would like to spend some time in Taormina. We are currently booked on the RC excursion "Taormina On Your Own" which is a 5 hour excursion, but will give us about 3 hours in Taormina as it takes about 45 minutes one way from Messina. My question is - is 3 hours enough in Taormina? Would it be better to find our own way to get there instead of with RC? We (specifically my mom) like the security of getting back to the ship when using a RC excursion, but wondering if a different option is best this time. Thank you for any advice you have! We've done research on the places, but would love to hear your favorite stops and shops in either Messina or Taormina if you'd like to share, too!

Hello! We are going on our first Mediterranean cruise and Naples is one of our stops. Having never been to Italy before (or even Europe!), we would love to hear what you did when Naples was your cruise port. Capri, Sorrento, Positano? We are thinking we are not going to Pompeii this time. Thank you for any advice you have big or small!

We sail on JOS in February, sailing in and out of San Juan, and had originally booked "Old San Juan on Your Own" at the end of our cruise which included holding our luggage with airport drop off before our departing flight. Unfortunately, they canceled the excursion, but we do not fly out until late afternoon and would still love to explore Old San Juan, but are unsure what to do with our luggage. Has anyone done this before? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your post! We were wondering the same thing. We are on JOS in Feb. Also wondering if excursions are needed, or if there is enough to do at the port or just outside of it?

Hello! What are your favorite things to do/see in Trinidad, Tobago, and Dominica? They are all new-to-us ports! TIA!

Accra Beach or Paynes Bay Beach - have you been to either? If so, did you like it? Also open to hearing about other beaches in Barbados that you enjoyed! Thanks!

Barbados, St. Kitts & St. Lucia - excursion questions
pnk replied to pnk's topic in Shore Excursions
I noticed it said that the excursion was 3 hrs... which does seem long! Thank you!! -
My mom and I are also going on the Voyager OTS with the same itinerary next month! We've also done a similar itinerary in the past, here is what we did last time - St. Lucia - we did a tour to the Soufriere springs. It was a great excursion, BUT it was very long. St. Kitts - we did a bus tour stopping at a few places, one of them being the Romney Manor. It was a nice tour. I have heard great things about the Railway tour! We are thinking about doing a day trip to Nevis this time Barbados - we went to Harrison Caves - we really liked it! St. Maarten - we did a bus tour with various stops, one of them being at a small market on the French side. It was cute, but small, and similar to any kiosk shops you might see near a port. We didn't get to do any other shopping on that tour.

My mom and I are finally going on our rescheduled March 2020 cruise next month! After the pandemic and family medical emergencies causing us to cancel the first three times, we're saying 4th time is the charm. We will be on Voyager OTS and would love your opinions on excursions for these islands: Barbados - we have been once before and went to Harrison Caves. It rained the whole day (so a good day to be in the caves!) but didn't get to explore Bridgetown. We are wondering if there is enough to see/do in Bridgetown (just planning on walking or taking a taxi from the port)? If not, we would probably book a beach day excursion. St. Kitts - I have seen many people post about the railway tour and how much they loved it! We have been to St. Kitts previously, and did a tour of the island (not the railway) so we decided to take a water taxi to Nevis and do a tour over there this time. But, for how much we have seen people post about the railway tour, we are second guessing our decision. Since we've already done a bus tour, would you still recommend the railway tour (and picking that over a day trip to Nevis)? St. Lucia - has anyone been to the open air market, maybe a mile or so outside of the port? Just looking to get more information about it. We were going to head to Marigot Bay for the day, but my mom really wanted to check out the market... so just trying to prioritize our time. Thank you so much for sharing your opinions/experiences! We appreciate it!

Thank you everyone! The other flight didn't get us back until after midnight, and with driving a distance home from the airport, figuring out new pet arrangements, and working the next morning, it didn't seem ideal... BUT our gut didn't feel right taking the 9am flight, and you guys confirmed it! We ended up skipping the 9am - thank you all for your input! If the mixup didn't happen, we wouldn't be in this predicament, but it will all work out one way or another. In the end, we are thankful to still be able to enjoy the long awaited cruise!
-
We are cruising out of San Juan in November. After a mixup, we need to reschedule our flights, and there are two options that really aren't ideal. We prefer the flight that leaves 9am, but is that cutting it too close? Has anyone taken an 9am flight after getting off the ship and been able to make it on time? Thank you for all of your help!

Hello! We are heading on FOS at the end of March. We fly into San Juan Saturday evening, and we set sail on Sunday. We are hoping to explore San Juan before embarkation (because we won’t have a lot of time on Saturday), but we aren’t sure the best way to do it. Would it be best to arrive to the pier early on Sunday, check in with our bags, and then grab a taxi back to Old San Juan? Is there a better way to plan this? Now looking after disembarkation - on a previous sailing, we signed up for the excursion where we could explore San Juan before our flight with airport drop off, but because of our flight time this trip (2:30pm) we aren’t able to do the same excursions. Any suggestions for what to do between disembarkation from the ship and an afternoon flight?

I would love to hear about your opinions from the "San Juan On Your Own" vs. the "Old and New San Juan City Tour" both with airport drop off. Thank you!!

Hello! My mom and I are going on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean in a few weeks and we are looking for some recommendations on fun excursions for Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. We want to stay with RCCL excursions, we don’t drink, and we want to find something other than just visiting beaches. What are your favorite excursions you have done at any of these islands? Here are some excursions that may be of interest to us: Antigua - “Stingray Swim and Snorkel” This is at Stingray City. St. Lucia - “Volcanic Mud Experience” This is at the Pitons, visiting the mud baths and the natural heated pools. Barbados - “Harrison’s Cave and Island Tour” Have any of you done these excursions? Do you have different recommendations for these ports? Or would you skip an excursion at any of these ports, because the port is enjoyable just walking around? (We have been to ports in the past where we just enjoy the port by walking around, but others, such as the time we visited Falmouth, Jamaica, we found an excursion was necessary as there was not much to do at the port!) Thanks in advance for all of your suggestions!
