  1. Most RU upgrades are occurring close to sail date. At that point there is little cabin selection available. If you get a balcony RU upgrade and are placed in a 2D balcony they might not allow you to move to an 8D balcony or vice versa. RU is also a tool for them to maximize muster station optimization so moving cabins might be restricted depending on muster capacity.
  2. I'm sure any new port build out will involve investigating LNG capabilities in support of Icon class. If Canaveral was closed for any reason they need alternate ports to divert to. Carnival has NYC as a home port for a few months for it's soon to be released LNG ship. Just two east coast LNG fuel stops is pretty risky in a business model. The more LNG capable ports the better. I'm sure they are exploring it in Everglades and Miami as well.
  3. Eventually all ships will leave the fleet, even the Icon class decades from now. It's never a matter of "if" but when. Radiance class still has several potential years of service for destinations best served with smaller ships. Vision class is still around because at the moment they can operate at profit. Royal is a business and as long as a ship is in the black why would they get rid of it?
  4. Too many variable in cruising. A 14 night sailing is very different than a 3 night sailing over a weekend. A ship based in Southhampton will have different consumption trends than a smaller, older ship in Baltimore. Fixing on one set price would benefit some and penalize others. Sales would plummet on 9 night or longer cruises. Royal has at any given moment over 70,000 guests on board their ships every day of the year. They've been selling drinks for years. They know our drinking habits better than we do. Adjusting prices to suit cruise length, time of year, region and a number of other factors is smart business based on analytics.
  5. To be fair all ships can vibrate at times, especially aft. I was on another ship that had to crank it up to full speed to navigate around a weather system and my cabin on an upper deck in the aft section vibrated quite a bit most of the time we were at top speed. When first starting away from a pier or when azipods are turned for close in maneuvering vibrations are common. Then there was the time on Carnival I was right over the bow thrusters on deck 2. I didn't need a wake up call, I knew when we were arriving in port in my interior cabin.
  6. No idea what it is but they like it so much they wanted more!
  7. They are only experts in law if they stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

  9. As soon as I saw it I recognized it as a mistake. Possibly a summer intern mistook Refreshment package for Deluxe and set this all in motion. I don't really know what consumer laws apply in Florida but I fully expect this clear mistake to be corrected (cancelled and refunded) and have no intention of squealing about it when they do. Sure, of course I wish they wouldn't cancel them but I'll have no problem if they do.
  10. As we all are. Give it a few days and let the dust settle.
  11. The specialty restaurants aren't set up for dine and dash. Most are geared towards a full sit down meal experience that lasts several hours. Many venues do book up, at least the popular times and days, you are best to make reservations for the week upon boarding then adjust as the cruise proceeds. There are some venues included in UDP now like Playmakers or Bamboo Room (if the ship has those venues) that have smaller bites where you can do a quicker bite. Liberty doesn't those venues them yet so your quick bite options will be more limited. UDP comes with a lot of food. The lunches on days when available are big lunches. I found myself adjusting my dinner reservation to later since I was often still full from lunch at 5pm. I started eating a very light breakfast because three full meals in a day was so much food. You can't bring any food off the ship while in port. For venues such as Izumi's the expectation is that you sit down and order food to eat then and there. For cover charge venues if you are under $35 you are good, if over $35 you pay the difference. While your cabin might have a beverage cooler it isn't a fridge suitable for storing left over food. As far as must try experiences, try them all! Food is personal and what I like will be different compared to what you like. Try them all and figure out which you desire to return to then adjust reservations as the cruise proceeds.
  12. No worries! Live in the moment, update the blog when ever you can, even after the 2nd leg once back at home.
  13. There remains a couple different versions of SetSail passes. Your's appears to be the traditional style. Notice how his name is under your name by the Print button? That ships hasn't converted to the new process yet. Single SetSail should suffice unless you plan to arrive at the cruise terminal separately. One time when cruising with my son and we had planned to arrive separately I logged in under his name and was able to print a unique SetSail pass for him. If in doubt just bring a copy of the cruise invoice showing both names. Some people arrive at the terminal with no paperwork. As long as they checked in online that still works.
  14. They likely haven't loaded yet. I have spring 2020 cruises and items are just beginning to populate. Keep checking.
  15. Saturday morning should be a breeze. Baltimore and the greater area suffer from terrible traffic at times but that particular drive isn't known to be bad like other parts. Weekend mornings typically see light traffic in that stretch. Enjoy your cruise!

  17. The virtual concert is a presentation within Two70°. It's basically an orchestra projected onto the Vistarama screen and played over the sound system. This picture doesn't do it justice but make no mistake, it's a projected concert on to a very wide screen.
  18. IT doesn't set pricing. This is on another department. Someone screwed up.
  19. I suspect it has to be booked through the airline branded travel agency. I understand the dilemma, I'm getting super cheap reward flights to Europe and even Australia on Delta. My return from Barcelona and separately from London is 25K miles each for two upcoming transatlantic. I can't fly domestically that cheap.
  20. Timing didn't work out. Flying home from a family igloo visit the day of boarding and the dog threatened divorce giving my cruise calendar for the rest of the year.
  21. So in other words hubster has learned he gets what space is left over and there is little sense with him packing until his residual space is defined and well known.
  22. Even though it's July, this is how you will likely spot a Lulubot on a cruise:
  23. So that was you under my bed!
