  1. My favorite WJ night and I even have an Indian dessert now. We’re actually going to the MDR on the 1st Indian night next month for my wife but I’ll be having WJ before that, especially since we have the UDP for the 2nd leg of our next B2B. As much as I enjoy Indian in the WJ, I’m making full use of our first UDP until I can’t eat anymore. Sounds right, that would be me on all counts, lol. I do like to say I still feel like a big kid at times.
  2. I don’t understand why this a rare menu for North America sailings. We have Chinese takeout (takeaway if I’m speaking UK correctly, lol) all over the place. It’s not authentic Chinese but the RC version sounds pretty similar to what we have. I guess Caribbean night seems more appropriate for the Caribbean? You lost me with the art, tapas look good, and I decided to go on a Chinese food rant. Might be the in between cruise diet getting to me. Sorry to see your blog coming to an end. Hopefully there are some sea day food/drink pics to close it out.
  3. It was too fresh on some nights last cruise. With 50+ people in line they couldn't get them out fast enough. Seemed like they were pulling them out of the ovens a little early, quickly slicing em, and tossing greasy messy slices to the hoard, lol. Longest Sorrento's lines I've ever seen. It was much better at other times... crispier and not nearly as greasy.
  4. Hideaway is a party with a DJ and adults-only but not really upscale unless you count a few seafood items as upscale. The Beach Club is more upscale and your lunch will include items like filet mignon and lobster but it has a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Children are also permitted there. I think you'll need to decide which of your preferences are most important as neither location will satisfy all of them. There should be plenty of YouTube videos and written reviews of each if you Google them.
  5. Technically it's called the "Carnivore." I thought you were the Sorrento's lover!
  6. I mentioned loving gyoza dumplings, I just prefer to order more unique stuff whenever possible unless I'm specifically dining at a specialty restaurant for a certain item... like the burgers at Playmakers (obviously I can get burgers anywhere) or a basic steak at wherever.
  7. You guys are in your own category (in the best way). Before meeting I always described you to my wife as the super nice down to earth Pinn I "chat" with a lot on here. I feel like you could enjoy a cruise on any ship with whatever cabin, food venues, package, etc.
  8. I totally ignored it for several cruises then went back and now it's in the rotation. It's kinda like ELF to me, a quick snack that's not exactly huge or overly filling. I prefer ELF, don't get me wrong, but gotta have some variety. The location is convenient too if you enjoy any of the Playmakers specialty drinks. When my wife wants a nap I usually either go there or ELF. You sure do enjoy genpop food more than some other suite snobs... err... enthusiasts who shall go nameless.
  9. It will feel nearly identical to Voyager class… b/c it’s really just a stretched out version.
  10. Pardon my selfishness but they don’t have to eat (or drink) there then. Joking aside, now that I have a new favorite drink to go with my Moonlights, I might miss the bar more than the food (and you know I love the food). We usually only have one meal per 7N there… but I had multiple drinks per day from the bar on Utopia.
  11. Utopia... it's a fake food truck with grab n go food by the pool, right in front of the entrance to the WJ.
  12. Would love to go back on her once at PC if the price/date fits. I don't need the newer (and more expensive) ships when some of the older Oasis class ships will have most of the venues I like. EDIT: We could go on her for spring break 2027 instead of Star but my wife vetoed that idea and of course then I wouldn't get to sail with @Lovetocruise2002.
  13. Several of those look appealing to me and Star will have different venues than Icon (with a couple repeats) so that's quite a few options.
  14. Food is subjective but going by your signature it doesn't look like you have tried Spare Tire. Other than the one dessert item, I thought it was a giant waste of a new included food venue. I'd much rather have a Polish sausage or brat from Dog House. That said, I would also rank Dog House behind those other venues but I don't mind it. My ongoing wish is that it was turned into a PDCC Snack Shack.
  15. Only via the app, not the website.
  16. I've been looking at menus (as usual) and the firecracker spring rolls are a leading contender for an app. I love gyoza dumplings and I enjoy tempura but the firecracker sounds a little more unique. On the rare occasion I get Japanese food at home, I can get that other stuff. Thanks again for the recommendation. I might be asking for other specialty recommendations at some point since (as you know) we've always just gone to the same 3 places over and over. I'll start a new thread about whichever restaurant(s) if I do.
  17. You didn't say specifically where you're looking but you need to go into order history (website, not app) and click on your UDP. If you see a "modify" link, that's what will bring up the reservation section.
  18. More great food pics! Is it wrong to want to go to Spain just for the food? It may sound like I eat anything (not true, I just eat often while cruising, lol) but I swear I could easily be ordering the exact same stuff you do whether it's in port or on the ship. Drinks too (minus wine). I ate so much seafood and Indian on Utopia last cruise that I had to force myself to go to my usual snack spots like ELF that I would normally stop at everyday. My food-logic-nerd brain says I need to take advantage of the variety b/c I do enjoy so many different things.
  19. Given that it's 8:30am here, I'm cheersing back with a coffee. Keep em coming! 23 days til I sail again. Looking forward to going through the Playmakers menu with my UDP credits (probably as a late night snack).
  20. Or you could just pack le… Nevermind, happy shopping!
  21. Activities for the cruise before this one that we're on populated in the app today so I'd expect them to show up in the next few days for this one.
  22. Sounds very similar to my MIL who also can't sit in the backseat of a car but has zero problem cruising. I believe she uses wristbands and Dramamine but, as you outlined, there are several options and different ones work better for different people. I can also vouch for rarely feeling any motion on Oasis class (and specifically Wonder). I may have felt the ship move once in my 7N on Utopia earlier this month.
  23. That’s one reason I expect to prefer Oasis class to Icon class. I don’t need adult-only (not that I mind it) but I do need a shady lounging spot & Icon seems to be lacking in that area (especially Hideaway). It’s all about what one finds important while cruising. We both obviously value the Solarium… a family with young kids, likely not so much.
  24. I'm a huge fan of Oasis Class; it's almost all we've sailed for the past 10 years. I haven't sailed Icon and don't plan to sail that class for a while but based on watching Icon ship tours, reading reviews, and talking to people who have been on Icon (both family members and in the forums), while some aspects of Icon class look super appealing to me (mostly the new food/drink options and some of the entertainment), my educated guess is that I will enjoy Icon but will still prefer Oasis class. Anyway, my general point is not only should you not consider Oasis class a downgrade, some people most definitely prefer Oasis class. Bigger/newer isn't always better. Enjoy Oasis!
