  2. I wnt to do the Izumi but the wife wants red meat Peter
  3. So if there was only one specialty restaurant available, which one should it be? Peter
  4. G'day I am thinking of taking a repositioning cruise from Hong Kong back to Australia and am curious to know if these are full featured normal cruises, will there be anything different about these cruises? Peter
  5. your'e doing well if your specialty dining has already been cooked I found the Radiance MDR to be good, we had three or four staples on the diet and three or four different offerings each night, we could have eaten something different every night of our 14 night NZ cruise Peter
  6. G'day, just wondering about the my time dining, we booked it for the Radiance but ended up dining with friends at a set time on their table every night. if we had done the my time dining we would have needed to dine upstairs only, is this the same on Voyager and do they have a problem with only two of us wanting a table for two, do we need to book a time or can we turn up each night when we are ready to eat? Peter
  7. I did it again, we have booked a pacific islands cruise on board the voyager 301 days away, it is 286 days now but still too long Peter
  8. G'day can somebody please tell me if royal caribbean have swapped to wrist bands instead of sea pass cards and if so which ships? Thank you Peter
  9. G'day Just curious if anybody has been on the radiance and the voyager, I was on the radiance in Feb 2015 and so were 2200 others but we found that we had plenty of room to move without running into people, will the same be so on the voyager? Peter
  10. We would normally wake up around 7 go down to the main dining room or the windjammer and have breakfast around 8 30, then we would have a look at what was happening in the Centrum then maybe go for a game of mini golf then have some lunch at the windjammer before heading back to the room for a while then we would wander around the deck maybe have a game of shuffle board then we would have an afternoon drink with some friends at the colony club or schooner bar before heading for a show at 7 15 after the show we would have dinner in the main dining room until about 10pm then either head for the schooner bar or the quill and compass pub for a drink or two before either heading back to the room or off to a disco, bed was usually between 1130 and 1 30 Peter
  11. prior to cruising my wife and I were debating the drinks packages, were they worth it? I do not drink a lot at home but can tend to drink a few with company, my wife drinks more than I do but even she is not the heaviest drinker, so we decided to get the premium package rather than have to worry about hefty cruise card bills. We both drank enough to justify the package, so we go our money's worth. we both agree now, however that if we didn't have a package we would not have drank anywhere near as much. We have agreed that on our next cruise we will just buy the soft drink package if any and buy a couple of beers or whatever with meals Peter
  12. That's my thought, we were told by the travel agent that tips are part of the cost, so obviously we had to make sure to save that money, it is a bit rough, after exhausting all avenues to get enough money to enjoy the cruise, to then have it made blatantly obvious that we are expected to leave extra gratuities. Peter
  13. I still am a little miffed about the whole tipping scenario. We are forced to pay tips with our prepaid tips prior to even boarding the ship, if we pre purchase a drinks package we also pre pay more tips, if we buy a drink at the bar we also pay a tip. So why are we still 'encouraged' to pay more, example envelopes handed out on last night, head waiters telling us how gratuities tell them how good they are even a friend had the stateroom attendant relating to them as to his poor sick family under pressure to attend bad schools etc. We should be given the simplest option...either have tips added to appropriately pay the staff, and have no mention ever made of it or give the customer the sole right and discretion to distribute tips as we see fit. I feel that we pay enough money to expect the level of service that we received, if some people need more service then the rest then they should be the ones paying additional tips. Peter
  14. we were able to get unopened cans of soft drink, the freshly squeezed juice was extra in the main dining room. Peter
  15. we made good use of the package, usually a bottle of water each and ate least 6 or seven cocktails per day, and the odd soft drink. Peter
  16. Favourite restaurant was the main dining room, I really liked Picton, such a picturesque place and Auckland is nice. I found that the food in the Windjammer was never really hot enough. My wife found that the towels were not big enough. The staff were brilliant, we were never left standing around and they were very quick witted and amusing. We probably had a bit of bad luck, as the world cup cricket was on in NZ and the excursions were a little rushed due to the ports being unprepared for cricket and cruising. But overall it was wonderful Peter
  17. I enjoyed 95% of the nightly shows, and enjoyed beating the wife at minigolf. My wife and her friend did the napkin folding course. And I enjoyed the singer that took requests in the schooner bar, Tony B was his name Peter
  18. G'day, Just finished the 14 day New Zealand trip from Australia and enjoyed my self completely as did my wife. I had so many questions before I cruised I asked them on here and received many different answers. Had I followed some I would have caused quite the ruckus. I have to assume that different countries allow many different things. If any body is travelling out of Australian waters to NZ and needs some answers i will endeavor to answer as honestly as possible based on my recent experience. Peter
  19. chargers were fine for cameras, phones etc but no extension cords and definately no powerboards, power boards in australia are the type that plug into a wall socket and then have four to six outlets, i friend had theirs confiscated until the end of the cruise Peter
  20. the only thing we were allowed to take on or off the ship in Australia and New Zealand was water, when leaving the ship in NZ only unopened water. no food opened or unopened allowed on or off Peter
  21. we had US power points and European (not to be confused with British power points...which are different from the European) on the Radiance Peter
  22. We found that you could lay money on the roulette table either US$ or AUS$, there is an atm onboard that dispenses only US$ you can go to the Casino cashiers and present your cruise card and 'charge' US$ to your account and they give you US$ to spend on machines tables etc Peter
  23. and they are not available until shops open when we left the port Peter
  24. we booked our luggage in at 11 am then went for a wander and a coffee at the Quay then went and boarded the ship, there was a huge sign as you go through Customs stating that due to Australian immigration regulations once you are on board you are not allowed back off the ship. Peter
