This is not entirely accurate.  If you have a gty category and you are not happy with the cabin assignment, you can ask to be reassigned a different cabin, assuming there are cabins available, if that reassignment is for the same exact cabin category.  If your TA said that it’s not possible and that all gty assignments are “final”, he/she is mistaken. If you aren’t happy with your cabin assignment, insist that your TA check and see if there are any other options within your category.  If everything is truly sold out then you are probably out of luck but just b/c you have been assigned a cabin, it is not automatically final.

    Thanks for this tip!

  2. I'm in a related situation right now. We booked a guaranteed 4v inside stateroom for our Mediterranean sailing in September. According to the deck plans (and my travel agent) we would be on decks 5/6/7 either forward or aft. We received an "upgrade" to a 1V inside which is mid-ship but on deck 2. I would have rather not have had the upgrade to mid ship and been on a higher deck. My travel agent said there's nothing she can do. Once a stateroom is assigned it's final.

  3. Our family would like to do a variety activities including a visit to a beach with parasailing/jet ski rentals, a catamaran snorkel excurion and an island tour with beach stop. Our stops are Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Any advice on which activity I should plan for each port?

  4. You can't do that. ;)  That wasn't one of the dates you proposed when you started this thread.

I haven't done the Med yet, so I'm looking forward to the responses here.  Right now I have a Med and a Japan cruise booked for next summer (2018), and will have to decide sometime next year.

What can I say? It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind! 9nts won me over. I figure we're not there for the beaches so much anyways and an extra sea day to enjoy Symphony is just too sweet to pass up!

  5. Like many of you, I'm anxiously awaiting the new 2018 itineraries while planning a Fall 2018 sailing to hopefully include the ABC islands. Right now it seems my ship choices are Navigator and Adventure. Can anyone advise me on which they'd choose? Any speculation on what ships might cover similar itineraries?

  6. We have this booked, but I'm having second thoughts about it. It would be awesome to see the ruins, but Matt is right, there's a lot of travelling back and forth and it seems like it would consume the whole day.

I'm leaning (and convincing my wife) to do the Xplor Park instead. Only an hour away from the port opposed to the almost 4 hour drive to Yucatan. Not to mention you get ziplines, amphibious vehicle rides, underground caverns to paddle a boat around, plus food. Last time I checked it was 199 PP in the RCL website, but saw one on XPlor's main website for half the price (you just need to find a way to get there) Hope everything works out for you and hope you find something great!

Our family visited Xplor a couple years back and it's something we still talk about. A really adventurous, fun day. I'd definitely visit again.

  7. Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone on these boards for sharing their insight!

Our family of 5 just returned from our first cruise (12 nights on Anthem). We obviously spoiled ourselves and can't wait to get back to sea! We've booked Oasis for our family next January but would like to plan a separate cruise for just the 2 of us in 2019. Is there a ship that might have more couples rather than families? We're both active 35-40 year olds and enjoy nightlife. We loved our RCI ship but would consider trying another line also. Thank you!

  9. Hello everyone! We're excited for our 1st cruise coming up later this month and have already booked a second for 2018! I have a few questions about booking a cruise while onboard to take advantage of the onboard credit.

    1. Can I book for someone else (family member) who isn't on the current sailing with us? We're booked for a 2018 sailing on Oasis and my parents would like to join us.

    2. Can we take advantage of the onboard credit immediately or is for the future sailing we book?

Thanks in advance for your help!
