  1. So, apparently some more interior staterooms opened up. We're 2 people in a 4 person room. Maybe they'll be doubling us up?
  2. So, it's one month, 4 hours until we sail, and my GTY cabin as been assigned ... Deck 3, aft as far as you can go.
  3. You're right about that. RCL tells you that taxes and fees are set when the cruise is announced, but I've seen a cabin price drop but the overall cruise cost increase.
  4. So, I'm not on this cruise ... yet ... but I am following it. The price is the lowest I've seen in a while starting at $706: I think I might've seen it at something like $571 in the past, but I don't actually remember.
  5. We got our inside GTY repriced to $846. Still following on my watchlist! It's $1147 today: The Jewel is also sailing to Cayman and Jamaica in Feb for $706:
  6. When we first cruised in 2004, the CC boards would have hundreds of participants. I've been back on these boards for the past year or two and was surprised how few people actually show up.
  7. I considered boarding in Tampa and ending with these sailings, would've been a total of 45 days: Tampa, through the canal, up the west coast, and 3 weeks in Alaska. Didn't want to abandon the mutts for that long, though.
  8. St. Pat'sDay: Outside view cabins are currently cheaper than interior cabins!
  9. I had sent emails last night, but I called this morning and Jorge was kind enough to lower our price. Saved $278! We booked this cruise onboard VoyagerOTS last August, and that seemed to make the whole process a little difficult for poor Jorge, but he endeavored to persevere and was ultimately successful. Edit: I found I can post screen shots!
  10. So, if it hasn't become obvious at this point, I'm one cheap ass bastard. I have our cruises on a watch list, which I update every time I'm at the computer. Today, the price on our cruise dropped by $271. You know I'm already on the line with RCCL to get my price adjusted. Wish me luck. I'll post updates. For transparency, we booked an inside guarantee originally at $1014pp. It's been repriced once to $985pp. The current pricing (3/15/24) is $864pp. I don't know what other categories are doing ... we always sail steerage.
  11. Don't know what you paid, Patty, but the staterooms are staring at $339 right now. Theoretically, they'll match the price if you're rate is higher.
  12. So I just checked the price (I have the cruise on my watchlist) and it's now $73 less. So, I'm working on getting my cruise repriced. Being one cheap-ass bastard, I'm going to be watching this until we sail! rkr
  13. We have an interior GTY. And the category is now SOLD OUT! We'll help them out and take a balcony.
  14. So, we booked this cruise onboard Voyager for 1015pp for an gty inside cabin. Later I saw it for 985pp and RCL repriced, lowering our cost by about $120. Now, it's online at 955pp. So I contacted them again. They said the total cost would be higher after a reprice. ? So, I ran a full quote online and they were right! RCL lowered the rack rate by $30pp, but raised the taxes/fees & gratuities. In the end, the "lower" room rate would've cost another $200!
  15. Booked this cruise on the Voyager in August. What? Aruba from Galveston? What? Hellya!
  16. We're doing the May 3/10 back to back. 2d time for this cruise. Fun fact: Last time I booked this cruise, I couldn't figure out when it was getting back to Vancouver. Then I saw it was one way! So I did the only rational thing, and booked the return the next week. Now, it's the only way to cruise Alaska!
  17. We're doing the May 3/10 back to back. 2d time for this cruise.
  18. We were on the Voyager in August and had no problem placing to go orders from the MDR. Once they gave us a tray to carry the food on, but other times they gave us the covered plates. As a note, the plates come from the kitchen covered before they're delivered to the tables, so it's not actually any additional work for the staff. The covered plates stack well and are very stable when being carried. We'd get MDR take out and eat in the pub.
  19. Doesn't seem anyone does roll calls any more. The Cruise Critic board only has 3 or 4 participants too. Back in '4, there were hundreds, it seemed. Big group that actually got together on embarkation. There was a specific mix/mingle. Not much of that now. Here, there's only 3 of us. So, anyway, hey! Here's a fun fact. Tested positive for Covid this morning (Sept 1)! Cheers.
