  1. To play devil's advocate, you are concerned about losing your passport when going ashore but not your wallet? SeaPass card? cash? phone? Personally, I don't know why a passport would be any more or less concerning about losing than other valuables.

I see your point Matt, but i would think of all those things the passport would be the hardest/most valuable to replace? I do worry about losing those things off ship, but i think worst case scenarios they could probably be resolved without too many ramifications, but the passport? Such a conundrum.  On our southern carribean cruise last month, Royal told us to take our sea pass and copies of our passport with us. Maybe that is enough to calm our minds? Idk.  Maybe there are back up plans worried cruisers don't know about.

  2. Alas, with aging parents I need to keep an eye on and job duties that can't be tuned off for a week, I can't go without internet access anymore.

So what was your overall takeway from Voom on AOS, I too was planning to have it to check in with the kids and parents via iMessage or facetime. Should I keep my package or look for a cell pkg on port days?

  3. I agree with the others, it is what you make of it.  Keep your expectations in check and all you can do is go up! Its your first cruise! You don't know any differently!  I'll be honest, my 13 year old struggled to be entertained by the teen club, but he enjoyed other amenities of the ship with us as a family.  I think its just an awkward age and depends a lot on your comfort level of interacting with strangers if you didn't bring any friends or close relatives, BUT  no matter what ship you're on you can't escape the sheer majesty and awe of being on the ocean and waking up in a new place every day.  It's like nothing else. My kids loved being on deck to observe sail way and arrival in port. They loved having all you-can-eat bacon in the mornings, pizza & ice cream 15 times a day and thought it was plain awesome to order room service. The towel animals and napkin creations from the staff were so fun, too.  I guess what i'm saying is look for the simple pleasures first and you won't be disappointed. Have fun!

  4. When we were on Liberty (Freedom class)in March  Windjammer had free sushi at night and main dining room offered limited sushi bar at lunch.  I was hoping for some free treats too on Allure, but it sounds like that is not to be. We'll start saving up for Izumi :)

  5. Like all Windjammers, if you roll in after 9am, it will be crowded and there can very well be lines to get in.  So either avoid busy times or seek alternatives during those times.

do the alternatives get crowded?  Debating Allure or Liberty kinda nervous about the crowds :) we're gf so food is already a challenge and little slower than normal for us anyway, but gotta say I'm intrigued by the Allure options.
