I booked a cruise for July 2023 just a couple of weeks ago.  Since I needed an adult with my 3 granddaughters (I booked my daughter and SIL in their own room) I listed my husband with the girls and I booked our room with just me in it.  The price for the room with just me listed is exactly the price of a room with 2 minus the taxes for that second person.  It is not priced higher.  Now I will earn double points 😉 and everyone will be happy.  Maybe different categories have different prices?   I have 5 OV Balconies in a row so we can open the dividers!

I noticed something similar recently actually. My next 3 cruises, only one is outside final payment, but I had my TA double check prices with a mock booking with a second guest and it ends up being about the same (with the 2nd person's taxes refunded). Price was close enough that it wasn't worth the hassle of booking a fake passenger and refunding.

A sailing 9N sailing in June 2023 on Vision ended up cheaper booking an inside solo, but much more expensive solo in a JS.

As a first timer, the points aren't a big thing to me....at least yet. Don't get me wrong, I am not against loyalty programs, I have three million Delta miles in the bank. In the case of Oasis this next week, it does appear that the GTY is available for double occupancy and not for single occupancy on any website that shows availability online.

I solo cruise for the entire reason of hitting D+ before my kids turn 18 so that they can become D+. Cruising with them is expensive, even with Kids Sail Free times. Mostly because I'm a single dad, so I only get discounted on one kid, not both. I also pay gratuities and flights for both of them. For the price of taking them on a cruise, I can go on 3-4 cruises myself for double the points!

  3. I am Asian and for the first time, I went to an Asian wedding last month to celebrate my cousin. For the first time, I saw bartenders bored at a wedding. No one really drank. Most had one drink and it was over. Luckily, the males in my family got the gene to process alcohol, so we definitely get our moneys worth on the DBP and the only ones chatting up the bartenders at the wedding! 😅
