  1. If you and the other person will be drinking more then 5 drinks a day each (10 total per day) then its worth it. If you don't think you'll have that many, then it's better to just pay per drink.
  2. Hi! When leaving the Galveston Cruise Terminal via uber/lyft has anyone experienced extreme surge pricing? I'm considering pre-booking but I'm worried that something may keep us from getting off the boat in a timely manner. Advice?
  3. I want to get on the ship as soon as possible and I don't want to get on after a ton of people. Is there something different about Galveston from Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, and Los Angeles? I'm familiar with boarding at those ports ...you go through security and then get on the ship.
  4. I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is that when you check in you're given a time that you are allowed to enter the building so that you can check in at the port, go through security and then you walk on the ship. Usually the earliest time is 10:30. I don't understand why that was not an option for me. I checked in 5 minutes after the check in opened. I just want to know if there are a bunch of people who got 1030, or was 11 the earliest possibility.
  5. Hi! So we are very excited to go on the Allure out of Galveston on 8/13/23. I carefully marked my calendar for the check in date which was 6/29. After listening to Matt, I knew that I could check in at 10pm on the 28th which I did so I could get the earliest time. Technically it was 10:05pm, but the earliest check in time available was 11:00 am. What happened to 10:30? Did I miss it? I want to be one of the first on board. Also when does scheduling for the entertainment open up on the planner? I want to be fully prepared, booked and ready for our vacation! Thank you
  6. What ship were you on? I was just on the Navigator in May and drinks were 14 and on my planner they are 14 for the Allure. I've not heard that they are 15.
  7. Does anyone know if let's say the cup gets dirty or yucky in some way during your cruise, will they allow you to turn it in for another?
  8. Order a certified copy ASAP from the county registrar where you were born.
  9. I would want mornings only because I want my room clean and the bed made for the day. What's the point of making the bed at night right before I get back in it?
  10. So which did you use uber or lyft? Was it easy to find the driver? Did you have surge pricing? Please tell me more about your uber,/lyft experience that is my main question.
  11. How much was the shuttle through Royal? I didn't know they offered that. Why did you do that and not take rideshare?
  12. Hi, We are going on the Allure in August and I was wondering for those who used rideshare to go home or to the airport after their cruise out of Galveston, what was your experience? Was there surge pricing? Was it difficult to locate the driver(s) ? Any tips or tricks? Did you prebook?
  13. With regard to the suggestion that you order food and put it in your room cooler... DO NOT DO THIS. The thing in your room is not a fridge and food will go bad, bacteria will grow and you'll give yourself food poisoning.
  14. Well, there is a reason and it does cause some harm. I don't want to pay it early, but if it's my only choice I'll do it.
  15. Hi, So we have a cruise coming up in May and during that cruise our final payment for our August cruise will be due. My question is, can the Next Cruise department (or some other location on the ship) take final payment for another cruise? Thank you!
  16. Sounds good, are there liquor stores near by as well?
  17. We are going on Allure of the Seas out of Galveston this summer, flying into Houston Hobby. Where should we stay? Any good recommendations of a place to stay near places to eat dinner and a liquor store where we can buy wine to bring on the ship? Also, we are traveling with 2 teen boys so need a place that can accommodate us. Also, how did you get to the port? Car rental isn't an option, how was uber/lyft? Did you experience surge pricing the day of the cruise or for your departure?
  18. It impacts more people than you realize. In my family for instance, my parents became diamond when my 2 younger sisters were teens, but I was an adult. They both had diamond status for years. All of a sudden it was taken away from one sister but not the other. (Neither earned it on their own). I will earn diamond status in a year or two and I have two kids. Recognize that you earn your status your whole cruising life, not just starting the day your kids are born. So it's very likely that you'll have more cruising points than your minor children.
  19. That's exactly what I thought. It does not say that they loose the status just that they loose the dependent relationship.
  20. OK are you 100% sure of that and where did you get that?
  21. Hi, so a big question has come up in our family regarding kids and keeping their parents' RCL status. Ok here's my question, I understand that if your parents earn diamond before you turn 18 , you get their status as diamond. Once you turn 18, the relationship as a dependent is terminated by RCL. However, I was under the impression the child keeps the diamond status in perpetuity eventhough the child's points reflect the actual accumulated points. This is not explicitly stated in the fine print. Who knows the true answer? Please help. Also, if that child gets married and has diamond only because of their parents, does the new spouse get it too? Thank you
  22. Yes! We did it for our 6/12 Harmony sailing. Worked great! Very easy, convenient and inexpensive. Highly recommend
