  1. Another thing to remember. You cannot accumulate your drinks as Diamond or Diamond Plus. If you do not use them each day you lose them. So my wife and I can order 10 drinks a day. If I dont use them by nightfall, I use the remaining for either water bottles, cans, of beer, soda etc., and stock up in my fridge . Even on disembarkation day you can order 4 x2 drinks ( as Diamond status) So wake up early, and stock up on water etc for your trip home.
  2. As a diamond the "other" drinks will be discounted. If you want more drinks free then head down to the casino.
  3. Have you tried Celebrity yet? Disney is overrated and overpriced. I would avoid that. NCL...similar to Royal meh.
  4. Your sarcasm is noted. One study in Australia found an average of about 11 snorkeling deaths each year on the continent with over 2.2 million snorkeling dives on just the Great Barrier Reef alone in 2007, and notes that “reports of harm from snorkelling are rare, and it can generally be considered a safe activity But if there is a history of wayward sharks, or any attacks, I would like to know, rare or not. Florida registers on average 26 shark bites a year. To equate a warning to a car crash is nonsense. You can avoid an accident in many ways. , people are warned and taught basic principles. Same applies to snorkelling and water safety.
  5. I play along with my wife. One is signature status and one is Prime. I feel no need for both to strive for signature status. Signature get you free internet the whole week for the whole year. So many times we gamble only using one card to boost that rating in points. The major changes are internal that you dont know about. the bonus state rooms upon reaching so many points on each cruise. Once we hit junior suite status, we play the other card or both., or until we hit 25,000 points required to qualify for signature status the following year. once you have attained your complimentary certificate from the host, you should go up immediately to "next cruise" and study the new extensive list of cruises available. They are usually far more than what is presented you on the certificate. Plus you get free play and on board credit applied if you book with Next Cruise.( get $500-1000) If you need more time to book that cruise , you need to ask for a form that will extend your time to book., up to 30 days I believe. Then you need to call Club Royale to confirm your bookings and add to it if you wish for back to back cruises on your weekly/monthy offerings. I only bring a defined amount of bank roll to play. Once its gone, its gone. No more gambling. I just paid for my future cruise regardless. I have cruised dozens of times with Royal. Yes they are all free except port charges and taxes. We both know, nothing is free, but in the long run, I feel I am far ahead of the cruising game doing it this way. I get better suites Junior to star class upgrades., better perks, great service through club royale and can cancel my cruise to the day of embarkation without loss. We did have a designated host a year ago, but they stopped that program. Hope they bring it back. I do not need a travel agent to do all this, as I have figured out the logistics of how the whole process works. This system is obviously not for everybody, but if you are cruising and you know you are going to gamble, then it makes no sense, but to do it the way I have explained. Start with a bank roll of $3-5000 dollars stick your cruise pass card in the machine and get rated. You will indeed hit some sort of jackpots along the way and then use the casinos money to play. You are now on your way to your next free cruise and more.
  6. Well I do believe and like to try new things... but not things that risk my life. Being in the moment, awake and alive and able to enjoy things now. Not worrying about the past or postponing happiness to a distant future......this is living life to the fullest.
  7. I have a junior suite back to back on Voyager of the seas coming up. The minimal prices are very low for owners suite and above. I dont think it is advisable to bid, as you are not guaranteed to get the same suite on the second leg of the trip?
  8. Yes the tour company was not through Royal. Whether there was a warning, or waiver to be signed...dont know. Rare or common... I think that depends on the country/seas ie Australia is known to have frequent shark attacks as well as parts of Florida. Jamaica? I have snorkled there for years and nobody can even think of attacks that have happened....coral reefs may be a factor? There are safe spots in the world to snorkel without fear of sharks. You need to do due diligence and research. Coco Cay owned by Royal could have sharks, but I think they have radio waves in the water to deter sharks. The safest place there is in the inside cove beach area ( no creepy crawlers there at all ) Very sad indeed. There are certain activities in life that I do not do because of inherent risks.... sky diving, bungee jumping, rock climbing, diving, cave adventures, etc. People die every year climbing Mt Everest. I simply do not understand why anybody would want to spend $70,000 + to do that and risk their lives and others.
  9. Well this happened in the same place 2019. Now thats rare or common? Overall, at least 32 shark attacks have been reported in the Bahamas since 1749, followed by 13 attacks in Cuba during that time period, including one in 2019, according to the Florida-based International Shark Attack File.
  10. So In June of 2019 another woman was killed by a shark at the same place. Why doesn't Royal Caribbean warn cruisers of this?https://abc13.com/woman-killed-in-bahamas-by-shark-attack-rose-island-harmony-of-the-seas-death/12206135/
  11. The Air2Sea agent who booked my flight and took payment, booked me a flight that did not even exist at the time. So yes this responsibility falls on Air2Sea negligence in the matter. I would not have paid if I had known the dates do not coincide with cruise dates. Regardless, I am still hoping for some kind of resolution. Looks like a day early one way non stop, and a day later coming back with a 3 hour lay over. When I called West Jet direct again and asked for new fare rates they quoted me $4,000 ! Perhaps next time I will try a TA. But up to now Air2Sea was great. I always fly date of cruise., as they guarantee to get you on the ship with their emergency task team.
  12. I have used Air2sea in the past numerous times without any problems. But now with all the changes in flights, you must do your own due diligence to follow up on a weekly is not daily basis to see if your flight is indeed going to happen. I have a flight to Puerto Rico from Toronto and it has changed 3 times already. My due date to pay was yesterday Sept 2. I called today to book seats. But the airline (west jet) tells me I can book the seats outbound from Toronto, but not coming back! I call Air2Sea and they inform me the complete flight is no longer available even though I paid. So now a special form has to be filled out, and someone will get back to me within the next 7 days? The only good thing is that the price I paid is protected. But the flights available are not on exact embarkation/disembarkation dates meaning I have to pay extra for hotel night stays. I now must wait to see what happens and and wait to book hotels when I know the dates. I have sent an email to "choiceairsupervisors.com" to register a complaint and escalate this. If anybody has any advise, please pass it on. Also need best hotels to stay near port/airport. thx.
  13. As a diamond plus/signature player all our bookings are comped. I can book an additional room for friends/family at a reduced rate also. They claim that one of the original people need to be in the additional room. You can say that you will, but what if you dont? Do they really care? Is it policed? I dont understand this policy.
  14. Voyager of the Seas booked Nov 6 for 2 weeks. Air2 Sea changed my booking to a day early. So need a room . Any good hotels with a beach? thx
  15. Staff on Adventure friendlier? One thing I can say is that on all my cruises, I have found every single interaction with staff to be a positive friendly one. To say that one ship has more "friendlier" staff......only lends one to think that because like the TV show "CHEERS" everybody knows your name, and thus they are friendlier! LOL Cheers!
  16. Nothing wrong with sleeping on a lounger. I never said anything was wrong. Knock yourself out...sleep.
  17. As signature Diamond Plus members, we will most likely do the odd cruise with Royal now and then , but will be very selective on the particular ship and port. The layout in the casino on Adventure is a poor design. Most will agree to that. If you only gamble during slow times like mid afternoon, then it works as far as avoiding crowding. Like I stated in other posts, we dont need water slides, wall climbing surfing, etc, so yes I am looking at Celebrity Edge class for a better quality cruise which would include the cuisine offered. Celebrity will also give me an "Elite" status as well which is a nice added benefit. Other than the casino, I like the overall layout of Adventure, and the more classic cruise feel. The suite I had was excellent and spent much time there. As far as inside cabins go, I could understand using one maybe for a short sailing. Otherwise they are just claustrophobic IMO. You are already going to spend thousands on a one week or more cruise,... so why not spend a little more and enjoy the wonderful ocean views at various times of the day? Sunrise, sunset sitting on the balcony is my favourite. small living spaces can affect people psychologically if they're not used to it. After all, it's called “cabin fever” for a reason.
  18. I was on Oasis about a month ago or so. Disappointing too, but not nearly as bad as Adventure. Terminal issues again BAD. No aqua shows, and limited headliner shows. When I take a stroll throughout the ship and see numerous people on loungers sleeping, Im wondering if these are the people who have booked inside cabins? Makes sense as who wants to be cooped up in a closet all day? ,even for a nap. Never ceases to amaze me of the early bird lounge reservers throwing a towel or book to keep it all day.
  19. Just to make sure in case of any confusion, MY TIME DINING is the one to avoid. Traditional Dining ( early or late times) are the ones to book. No line ups there.
  20. No. From my experience its usually to the last day, or day of cruise.
  21. You raise valid points. So you live your cruise life to circumvent the natural order of process? I checked both 7:00pm and 8:pm lines at MDR. both had lines up to 100ft. Pool? I like to use it whilst the sun is out, not at dusk. Gambling is typically a social evening thing. Yes you can go in the early afternoon but for me not ideal. Going forward, for me the answer is to simply find a better fit cruise brand that suits my needs. If that means spending more $$$ so be it.
  22. I spend thousands. Signature status and my wife. More than most cruisers. I understand entitlement issues. I stated that I do not get my expectations too high during this season of cruising. From what I am hearing from other cruisers on other brands of ships, Royal is simply not up to speed in comparison. The ongoing experiences at Bayonne terminal is unacceptable . I do not think it is owned by Royal either. What a horrible way to start a cruise sitting in a car in line firstly to simply drop off luggage, then to be directed to an off site parking field, walk a football field length to a commuter bus to be taken to the terminal to now start yet another line. Paying full premium prices. Is it better than flying? Who knows. The airports are a disaster as far as I can tell too. I wish the off site site parking on hook rd would reopen. It was great and cost far less. Very efficient.
  23. its a report of my genuine findings. Summer officially starts June 21, my cruise started on the 23. Schools normally end , end of June. Ya I took a chance knowing this. Weather was great all week except for rain day Bermuda, and walking in humidity downtown Puerto Rico not advised. Jeez.
  24. Depends how you define "fun". Amusement? Enjoyment? NO. Rest and relaxation in my suite...yes. Watching sunsets , drinking fine wine yes. Having intriguing conversations with some interesting cruisers at various bars...yes.
  25. Yes lots of negatives and too many more to mention. Not just me. I spoke with many crown and anchor members. ALL very dissatisfied and disappointed . I went to the crown and anchor rep to ask him, and he admitted many complaints have been filed. MANY. The one good thing I can state is that most of the staff, remain friendly , cordial, and helpful. Some old timers not so much... You can tell, they are frustrated too., and can do nothing about it. Room steward, excellent. he always gets the biggest tip.
